Honestly, I don't mind too terribly if there are exclusive gay/lesbian character or straight characters. My problem would come in with how that defines my character. If I am playing a certain type of MC in one playthrough, I would like to have the option to romance someone who fits that character's type.

So I don't mind their being exclusivity, but in terms of character personalities I think there should be an even balance.

That's kind of the point of 2/2/2 though.

Everyone does have equal options (assuming all the romances get the same amount of TLC, of course.  But that's not a guarantee under any setup)  But what everyone does not get is 100% overlap.

I know.

2/2/2 is balanced and with everyone having one option for their chosen orientation alone. That's not my issue. My issue is someone getting all X along with exclusive option.

2 bisexual women and one straight is not 2/2/2.

The problem is that the person sitting next you always gets the $1000 every time the woman decides to hand out cash.

I understand the frustration, but saying that someone else should get less solely because you are getting less just doesn't feel right.

I may want more, and hopefully I would get more eventually, but I would not begrudge the person beside me, even if they received more and more with each handout, so long as I still got my £100 each time as well.

I hate this whole "Let's make the other side suffer like we suffered" thought process.

As a wise man said, "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind."

Yeah i know what you mean, but the thing is... straight male gamers will never 'suffer' the way straight female, gay male and lesbian gamers have 'suffered'. Because if there's ONE game where they get less options, that'll never be the equivalent of hundreds, thousands of other games where they get most or ALL of the options, you know?

I dunno, it's pretty useless to even talk about it because there's really no chance that they'll ever put straight male gamers at the bottom of the ladder in terms of romance options. Let's be real here.

As long as straight players have LI options, do they really need to have those LI be straight?  So why not all LI either bi or gay?

Not sure what your point is.

The only people who would get only one choice are straight guys. And they've traditionally had ALL the content. I'm not advocating for it (mostly joking, hence the "i'm trolling" comment), but honestly, I wouldn't get angry if they only gave straight guys one option.

(Don't worry, straight guys, that'll never happen. The gaming industry cares about you the most!)

I'm a straight guy. I don't really care if I got only one option (I roleplay character with different gender and sexualities either way, so I won't be affected), but I don't get why It'd be fine. I'm for equal options for everyone (and i the case of DAI, in the disposition between companions and advisors as well. I want the advisors to be bisexuals).

He is reversing your argument of:

As long as gay players have LI options, do they really need to have those LI be gay? So why not all LI either bi or straight?

by swapping gay with straight.

The same people always getting more doesn't feel right either.

To say you should just be happy to get something and totally fine that certain others always get more is not something I'm going to agree with.

I'd be fine if they'd give straight female PCs an extra option over me tbh.

But they aren't the ones always getting more or always getting the best options.

I will still prefer DA2's system b/c everyone had access to the same content.

I ran out of likes but yeah this.

One BW game straight males getting fewer options than everyone else is not gonna make them "suffer". They survived DA2. I'm pretty sure DAI having them have equal options to everyone else instead of the more they're used to isn't gonna cause a damn apocalypse.

And my argument was the reverse of someone else's post. So he's just going in a circle. Which I don't see the point of.

Ugh, I would uproar and I'm a straight female gamer...

Why would it matter? everyone should be able to get even content instead of 1 group getting better or more options then the others.

Just because straight players were more privileged in previous games doesn't mean we can use the same outlook on them now, that people used on gay players in the past. That's not progress. Progress is putting aside past slights and treating everyone equally now and in the future.

Because then straight players STILL have more options. And we're back to what we had in DAO. DA2 wasn't perfect but it was progress. Let's not move backward. If we're gonna have a set sexualities system, then the only way it works is 2/2/2 or 2/4/2. Everyone gets an option exclusive to their gender/orientation and the straight players are not rewarded extras simply for being straight. Sounds good? :)

IMHO 2/2/2 is equal to almost everyone (except bi pc, who will have four LI options) so I'm pretty sure straight dudes are fine

Though it's not like they won't complain as if it's the end of the world and whine about "feminist conspiracy" and "queer agression"

You probably didn't mean this, but your post seems to imply that every straight male might've a problem with DA2. I was quite happy with it.
I don't really mind the system as long as people get the same number of choices.

I do vote for 2/2/2 aka more-less equal representation. In this case straight male players won't get more options than straight female, or bi, gay players

But removing all straight female LIs? It's just... I don't know, leaves a bitter taste, some nasty implications as well

Exactly.

Of course the Straight Male Gamers ™ * will complain to death about anything that doesn't 100% cater to them but seriously they can drink salt water.

* not to be confused with gamers that happen to be straight

You might not want to mean this, but your post seems to imply that every straight male might've a problem with DA2. I was quite happy with it.

Well that's not what I'm implying. (thus the whole that won't make them "suffer") I'm saying that no there's not gonna be a hissy fit from equal options for the majority of gamers.

And same. I just want everyone to have an equal amount of options. And if that results in lock outs fine. As long as people are locked out equally.

I don't see why all the focus is on the straight male players, to be honest.

If anyone it's the bisexual players who come out on top.

No matter what though, they'll always have more. So I guess it comes from the 4 non-bi orientation/gender combinations.

Such is the natural advantage of being bisexual/playing a bisexual PC. More fish in the sea. :) I don't think anyone has a problem with that tho. At least I've never seen anyone complain?

Wouldn't making the NPC bisexual give everyone the same number of choices? Granted, there's the problem of having only one LI in the party, but people might get disappointed by not having their favorite LI in the party regardless if they're straight, homosexual or bisexual.
