That's the beauty of Bioware games. Their characters are so different and appeal to so many tastes, it's impossible to not find someone to romance. For my first play, which will be a human female mage, Cullen is up for grabs. xD

I really don't understand why Bioware thinks romances are optional and are not that important. There hasn't been one game where I haven't made a connection with one of the characters and wanted to know more about them.

Somehow my main Warden and Hawke ended up single and fell for unromancable characters despite some chemistry with LIs

Mahariel fell for Sten and broke up with Alistair

Hawke... fell for her lil brother and left Fenris heartbroken

Now I wonder what fate awaits my main Inquisitor. I'm sure Cassandra is a perfect match for him, but... eh, I know something will go wrong between him and some other companion

So yeah, playing without romances can be actually no less fun. Fenris friendship is actually much sweeter (imho) than his romance

The only time I found that someone that I wanted to romance wasn't available to me was in ME2 with Jack, and I didn't know I'd want to romance her until I played the game... So, for me the risk of disappointment it's always there because I never know if I'm going to want to romance someone until i see her/him in action... On the bright side, that works the other way around too, you can be pleasantly surprised  :)

Be sad for a few hours. Then, on my second play through redo all the scenes with that character, and let my dirty mind turn those events into romance novel.

And this is why fanfiction exists.

Just gonna impart this life lesson. Life's not fair. it never will be fair. That's not how the world works. Deal with it and better yourself from it. The world will be a far better place with many exceptional people as opposed to entitled/mediocre people in large vocal groups.

Also while I recognize that some of the mentions are sarcasm....complaining that your sexual orientation is not represented more than another in a -video game- can hardly be constituted as suffering. Tell that to the repressed in the middle east. Or to the underground christian churches in china... Just trying to put things in perspective.

That was an awfully longwinded way of saying, "I'm a homophobe and I don't want gay crap in my game."

I'm hoping for Varric and Solas.

Varric because I've passed one entire game hoping to have a romance with him, but nada. In DA2, if the Li doesn't have big psichological problems are a NO. =_= and he is a dwarf. I'd love to romance a dwarf with a dwarfette.

Solas I simply like how he look. and all the speculations about what little we know so far.

I would like to make another elven couple. I like Fenris romance in DAI, but he seems...so skinny with femHawke. and the giant weapon always on his back doesn't help.

Iron Bull would be great for a Qunari Inquisitor, expecially for the one I have in mind. And so Balckwall.

In the end the one I'm less interested in is Cullen. both in look and thype of character remind me too much af Alistair and Anders.

I like Alistair, and I still romance him when playng DAO, and Anders romance had some cute moments (when didn't go too much on the depressing parts) but I'd prefer something different this time around. The impression is of romancing the same character game after game...

More accurately, a privileged person, in that he believes that if a specific problem does not affect him (I assume it's a "him", sorry if I'm getting this wrong), then there is no problem. The (obviously irrelevant, and completely beside the point) very comparison just makes that clear.

Fortunately, the devs have already said multiple times that representation and inclusivity matter to them.

I just hope they follow through.

So what will people do if they cant romance the character they want?

I see lots of "I REALLY WANT TO ROMANCE X!" comments or "I WILL NOT  BE HAPPY IF I CANT HAVE X!" discussions.

So what will people really do if they cant have the romance they want?

I would deal with it, I have no expectations or delusions about potential LIs.  I'm not some love struck teenage girl who falls in love at first glance, I need to know more about my potential partners before I even think about giving them the plough.

Plus I figure the only chance at getting some Dwarf loving is at the local ****** house anyway.

I'm dead set on the Iron Bull. Mass Effect got their non-human romances, so why can't we have our Qunari? If he's unavailable, then I'll hope for Cole. That's pretty much it for the male LI for me. I abhor Cullen, I hate beards, and I loathe baldness. Way to reach out to the audience that pick LI due to their looks. >.>

Then you should probably start looking at female companions.

Yup, none of them is Cullen, none of them has a beard, and none of them is bald (well... I think... I have no idea what Viv has under those hats)

Yeah...the only lookers IMO are Cullen (good lord why) and DHMG. If they and Cassandra aren't a option for my femquizzy I'll just go forever alonez. Which is fair enough like 90% of my playthroughs of ME1 and ME2 are forever alone with dude Shep.

lol

Wait, I'm confused.  I am absolutely using looks as one of my criteria for LI picks and that's exactly why I like DHMG and Cullen.  Different strokes, right?

We've seen some concept art of Vivienne with a shaven head.

Do you know what would be neat? If the option to play an evil Inqusitor is available, I think adding four options to romances would be logical. "Dragon Age" is a 'dark fantasy' roleplaying game; therefore, the game should have options that reflect the genre.

Option One: - Accept to take part in a romance of choice.

Option Two: - Reject to take part in a romance of choice.

Option Three: - Kill the npc for flirting.

Option Four: - Seduce and kill npc of choice.

Dark fantasies are about violent and demonic worlds. When Ridley Scott made the dark fantasy movie "Legend", he toyed with the idea of having Darkness and Lili sleep together. rofl... Scott talks about it in the movie's documentary. Could you imagine showing the devil sleeping with the princess?

I think BioWare should go to extremes with the romances.

Some other options include:

~ Friends With Benefits

~ Innocent Romances

~ Rough Romances

~ Dark Romances

~ Seduce to Control

Within certain circumstances, I think an evil Indqusitor should be allowed to use seduction.

Romancing a seduction demon? rofl...

ELU!  I'm trying to save all my likes for DHMG today and there you go posting so much awesome art!  You of all people should know that Dorian deserves all of our likes :P

So thankful that I find most of the companions appealing.  Most likely one or two will be ruled out because of their personalities, but I'm bound to be happy with at least one LI so I'm set :)  Anyway, it's my Inquisitor crawling into bed with them, not me, so I'm more open-minded to characters that aren't so traditionally attractive to me personally.

In terms of looks - as a female Inquisitor I would go for Cullen or Blackwall. As a male - Sera looks to be the only one I would consider. Not sure about Scribbles, and not even sure she will be LI option.

Am I the only one who thinks if Bioware ever got really in the red all they would have to do is make a dating sim to get out. It doesn't even need a fictional setting. They could place it Edmonton, and people would still buy it.
