I said this was the selfish version :P

The more fair version (to me anyway) would probably have Vivi gay and Sera straight.

Now that's what i like to hear. (and i like Sera too but i wouldn't be sad if she's straight)

I just want 2 female companions for f/f at this point.

I don't care if they are bisexual/gay (don't see why it even matters).

Considering that they said there will be enough romances, we can expect at least 2-3 f/f romances.

Does it really matter that much which characters are going to be straight/bi/gay? I mean if people are going to be doing multiple playthroughs anyway, why not just roll an Inquisitor who can romance them? Are people really so against playing an Inquisitor of the opposite gender?

I'll hopefully be trying out every race/gender combo eventually, so for me at least it doesn't really matter who any particular character is attracted to.

It's for role playing purposes, obviously. There are many, like me, who prefer a gay romance and if a certain character isn't available, it would be crushing. Yes, I could roll a male character and romance her, but it's not really the same thing. I would have no attachment to that male inquisitor and that would just defeat the purpose of role playing the game as the character you imagined.

My personal preference for romances, assuming there will be eight options:

Straight: Cassandra, Varric

Bi: Iron Bull, Cullen, Scribbles, Sera

Gay: Dorian, Vivienne

Probaly not likely, but, y'know.

I'm saying companion options (not npcs)  :D

I'm not so sure about that.

Ah, I see that I should probably have read that closer.  Yeah, if Scribe Girl is one of the f/f options, then maybe you won't have two companions.  Bummer.  Of course, we don't even know for sure that she's a romance option.  But with only three ladies in the party, it might be tough to have two f/f companions.

I like playing elves. Usually for my bishies... XD

Nah because GW's an even worse option to me (so tired of the I'm going to die horribly soon romances).

You don't have to call him GW anymore.  He has a name, you know...... ;)

(Also, agreed that he's not as attractive as I thought, especially since it looks like he's closer to his Calling than I was expecting.  Now if he looked like that concept piece where he was walking away from a gallows?  Different story!)

This is the setup that appeals to me the most as well. A nice variety of all the different races and classes, and lots of good and varied options for both genders.

I feel like one of those people who were believed to be crazy until they are proven right.

"You all thought I was crazy and laughed at me. Well who's laughing now?!"

definitely credit where credit is due. *slowclap*

(i always liked your version better anyway)

soooo, IB, huh? but will he love you? i know he'll love you, but will he Love you? (yes, i'm a sentimental, romantic fool--sue me).

srsly, i'm feeling much better abt all this LI stuff now. And yes, I'm happy abt Cullen, but I'm also crossing my fingers for Dorian being Bi.

what if dorian is straight? i mean, we're assuming alot abt him based on absolutely nothing. And for a char. that delights in not being what you expect.

I hope Dorian is Bi. Dorian and Cullen. Plz be Bi. And Cass....

oh, dear, heartbreak is still coming, huh?

See that is my please no. I don't want Solas as one of the m/f options unless Dorian's bi XD elf dude that reminds me of those vampires from VTMB is not on my want list. :P

Hah.  A few of my friends and I nicknamed him (lovingly?) "Nosferatu."

Good news, It sounds like Iron Bull might be up for at least a night of fun, so long as you're not one of those skinny elves yourself.

Let's not kid ourselves. If straight dudes miss out on a romance, it will be with a non-companion character who has no importance to the plot.

Which romance option with importance to the plot did the straight female miss out on?

"Straight women are privileged too!" isn't going to be much of a counterargument for someone who isn't a straight woman.

I don't mention straight women because they're romancing dudes, and I have no interest in such. I mention straight men because they're romancing ladies, and I am interested in such.

pfft GW faster to type :P

And yeah that has disaster written all around it. And with cole clearly not an option that pretty much leaves Solas (I really think Bianca's gonna be Varric's LI if anyone).

I agree, but they may not necessarily be f/f.

At this point, I have no doubt that the female companions will be romanceable. Their accessibility is what remains anyone's guess. I'm pretty sure there will be at least one f/f option, though.

I really expect Solas to be an LI over Varric. But god damn I want me some dwarf lovin.

Can't we have both? It may be a bit imbalanced gender-wise, but 2/5/2 wouldn't be so bad...

Yes, it matters to me.  I'm not opposed to playing as a female, but I have NO desire to play a heterosexual character at all.  If Dorian is straight, I'll never romance him even though he's clearly my favorite because I don't have any connection to straight romance storylines.  However, if a female I like (looking at you, Vivienne!), I'm more than happy to do a single female playthrough in order to access that content.  To me, it very very much matters.

That's cool. I can respect that. Just wondering though, is there a particular reason you're so vehemently against playing a heterosexual character for even one playthrough?

I don't want you to feel like i'm interrogating you or anything, i'm just curious. Being someone that feels the need to explore every option in a game (in order to not feel like i've missed out on something great) It always confuses me when people don't want to access certain content.

One f/f and the straight/bi getting all the fun since they pretty much said there will be many romances? Nah, i very much doubt they'll do such thing.

Edit: oh you meant companions

I will be rather disappointed in BioWare if the only verified Li's are straight.

Yeah, I don't think anyone was questioning having at least one f/f option. I think most of us looking for a f/f romance are actually looking for ya know... a choice. The idea of actually having 2 or 3 options is seriously refreshing. It's something we hardly ever see in games.

It's really simple, some people just don't like playing heterosexual romances or even the opposite gender. Especially me.

It makes sense, though. Weren't the first confirmed romances for Origins Alistair and Morrigan? And plus, BioWare doesn't "risk" pissing off the dudebro crowd by revealing those disgusting GSM characters first.

Aye I couldn't play FemShep because of the VA. Thankfully doesn't look like I'll have that issue in DAI.

It's definitely possible.  If they spread them out across the sexualities (and include Scribe Girl in there as well), then there would be two of them available to lesbian PCs.  I could see that happening.

Three, actually. If 2/4/2, that means 1 lesbian and 2 bisexual women. Thus 3 female s/s options for female Inquisitors.

If I'm being perfectly transparent, I don't ever remember reading anything that said the 'all-bi' romances from DA2 will not be returning. I've only seen speculation.

With this in mind, I still have hope that they do go back to the DA2 formula. But I also somehow doubt it considering how tight-lipped they have been about the whole romance thing.

That would be a good possibility, yup.
