It makes sense, though. Weren't the first confirmed romances for Origins Alistair and Morrigan? And plus, BioWare doesn't "risk" pissing off the dudebro crowd by revealing those disgusting GSM characters first.

It would make more since for them to be bi so you treat everyone the same.

"Straight women are privileged too!" isn't going to be much of a counterargument for someone who isn't a straight woman.

I don't mention straight women because they're romancing dudes, and I have no interest in such. I mention straight men because they're romancing ladies, and I am interested in such.

Uhm... So the problem was that there were more heterosexual romances than homosexual romances available?

How many did that have?

The Old Republic had 8 class stories and 3 romances for each class, so 24 romances altogether.

This is the original post.

Palla says that privileged groups will have the experience of not getting what they want. I respond that they will still be privileged when it come to content.

That's cool. I can respect that. Just wondering though, is there a particular reason you're so vehemently against playing a heterosexual character for even one playthrough?

Not everyone is a roleplayer, some like playing versions of themselves or idealized versions of themselves they relate to as their main character.  If you are a gay man player, being forced to be heterosexual in order to obtain romance content is not part of that wish fulfillment and does not fit with that play style.   Moreover, sexual orientation minorities should not have to be forced into playing heterosexuals just to see some content they'd like to have.  It is rare enough as it is for an interactive story (let alone non-interactive stories) to offer us choices to see non-heteronormative relationships as part of a protagonist's storyline.

I will be rather disappointed in BioWare if the only verified Li's are straight.

Well, presumably the others will come soonish. I realize there are a thousand reasons for RL people to act differently, but it bugs me when devs write content that implies romantic interest in only one gender and then say "bisexual." Because then I want to know why Cullen wasn't flustered by m!Amell when the characters are identical and the culture doesn't judge sexuality.

I don't want you to feel like i'm interrogating you or anything, i'm just curious. Being someone that feels the need to explore every option in a game (in order to not feel like i've missed out on something great) It always confuses me when people don't want to access certain content.

No, I don't think that you are interrogating me.  I don't mind discussing it.  I've talked abut it in the "gay romance" thread in Feedback a bit too.

The idea, for me, is that I've had straight romances "in my face" (I'm using strong language on purpose) for years.  Bioware games are some of the only ones out there that allow me to engage in a romance story  (not the faux "romances" in the Sims, Skyrim, or Fable) with a gay PC.  If there is a gay option in a game, I just have no interest in playing a straight one.  I've still never romanced Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Miranda, Jack, Jacob, or Thane in ME (even though I've played about dozen Shepards).  All of my females are lesbians who romance Liara and all of my males are gay and romance Kaidan (and one with Steve).

I'm not against straight romances in the games.  I just am not interested in them because there are finally (finally!!!!) gay options for me (after over twenty years of gaming).

It's really simple, some people just don't like playing heterosexual romances or even the opposite gender. Especially me.

Yes. I was able to deduce that much on my own. I was trying to gauge the reasons why people don't want to even try it out when they are planning on multiple playthroughs anyway, "Just because" kinda feels like a dismissal of the question.

Three, actually. If 2/4/2, that means 1 lesbian and 2 bisexual women. Thus 3 female s/s options for female Inquisitors.

Yes, but I was responding to someone who was talking about companion romances specfiically.

The Old Republic had 8 class stories and 3 romances for each class, so 24 romances altogether.

And zero of them were s/s.  Just saying.....

Well, i really cannot explain it, it just feels like that i guess? Hetero relationships don't interest me, they don't make me feel 'close' to them, how do i say it? Someone might explain it better than i can.

Edit: apparently daveliam said it better.

For some reason, this post makes me very happy because it's like 'FINALLY! OPTIONS FOR ME!'

Thanks for the reply, I hope you get your desired characters to romance when the game comes out.  :)

I only play females and I only romance women. I identify with it. I see enough hetero relationships on tv and in movies and I read about them in books. In fact most games I play, I'm forced to either play as a male or a straight female. So when I'm playing a game, and I actually have a choice to play not only a woman, but a lesbian, I jump at that opportunity. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's me... Or I can just say, I play it cuz that's what I want to play.

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying here.

To clarify: I don't want Cassandra and Cullen to be straight (I expect one of them to be, at least, though) I just think it follows a sort of pattern BioWare has that they would be.

On the other hand there isn't any evidence of Cass being straight.

Oh, I am all too aware. :(

Yeah, I don't think anyone was questioning having at least one f/f option. I think most of us looking for a f/f romance are actually looking for ya know... a choice. The idea of actually having 2 or 3 options is seriously refreshing. It's something we hardly ever see in games.

Straight, bisexual, and gay PCs of both available genders will have more than one option.

I'd be cool if even if IB isn't a full romance, if you could engage in a sort of casual 'friends-with-benefits' sort of arrangement with him. :)

2/4+/2 definitely offers more availability and accessibility options, and stacking more bi options to benefit a greater amount of players makes more sense to me, but I'd be really surprised to see 2/2/4+.

Maybe M!Amell/Surana just wasn't his type.

No way she is gay because she had a little romance with a male mage from Dawn of the Seeker. Maybe bi but I'm more inclined to think she is straight.
