In that case, he's abandoning his companion (or companions) of a year, towards the very end of the blight. Over one decision, when he specifically gave you the reigns. I'm fine with him being upset, I'm fine with him leaving, but Duncan is dead, and you're choosing acting like a Warden, which Alistair pretends to be and letting someone sate vengeance over a man that your PC (especially the Mage PC, who can actually get out of their Origin without a problem or a Dalish who'd rather die with his clan).
If Loghain dies, then Alistair gets his precious revenge. If he lives, you have another sword at worst, and a brilliant general and moral figure for the troops at best.
His companions for a year that chose Loghain over him after he begs them to do the opposite. You keep acting like the warden didn't betray Alistair first. If you need wardens that desperately there's plenty of potentials. You choose a man who he asked you (begged really) not to come and after he told you he'd bounce if you did so you get upset. Which is fair enough but let's not pretend you didn't get fair warning. He leaves rather than probably doing something stupid like strangling Loghain in his sleep. If anything Alistair's leaving spares the warden problems in the ranks.
As for general and moral figure the warden's been doing fine without Loghain up to that point (not to mention all those armies you get have their own generals). You're also forgetting Alistair doesn't see the wardens as a punishment. He sees it as a honor. He doesn't see Loghain as worthy enough to even die in the joining.

I thought it was just making bad news a little more tolerable. Either way, I think that's what they were doing.
Or maybe they didn't think we'd be crushed?
Or maybe they didn't think we'd be crushed?
Honestly, I think this is what happened.
I still just really wish they'd tell us what the spread will look like. It would be so much easier if we just knew what sort of numbers we were working with.
Or maybe they didn't think we'd be crushed?
Well, after cries from a "straight gamers" I wouldn't be surprised if that's what has happened.

Yeah, chances are they underestimated our reaction. We continue to defy expectations.
Well, we still don't know enough yet, so.. maybe it could get better from here?
Can't get any worse.

Indeed. They felt trusting enough to show us all the companions, so might as well say who will like who.

Funny, if Alistair doesn't consider Loghain worthy enough, my Warden isn't going to consider it a betrayal. Like I said, I'm fine with Alistair leaving, I'm glad that he sticks to his character, but I'm not going to say he's some sort of paragon of standards because of it.
The Warden has been leading 3 other people into battle, not thousands. Alistair is wrong, then, because it's entirely possible that you're a heartless, backstabbing noble who sentenced people to death over petty fights, and he's more than happy to have you as a Warden. Dovren (or something) is a lecherous thief who openly admits as such, and Alistair is more than happy to accept him.
There there, my little raincloud.
At least we can be a f!Qunari
or so we think
If that's removed, I'm not buying the game. That's my line in the sand.

That would be great, but even just a tweet saying "it's going to be the 2/2/2 system" would be nice. Very nice if they told us if everyone would get the same amount of companion LI choices.

Ok. Let's put an end to this gloom and doom train of thought. They're not gonna remove the female Qunari.

Would you buy it, if they remove only horns?

I'm surprised they even let out this information so soon, and not to expect a backlash.

Hmm, they shaved about 5% off the Qunari, I'd wait until the game is at least 5% off.

I think if they showed us them, or at least her since we've seen males, it'd help the mood.

No kidding, it was a joke lol?

No, they decided to come out with romance stuff yesterday so they need to come completely clean.

When the hell did I say he was a paragon of standards because of that?
The warden has been gathering armies. Armies with their own generals. Also Alistair flat out says he doesn't think you should've been a warden if you go back to the camp with him at -100 approval so...yeah.
Also you don't see the difference between a lecherous thief and the man who tried to have the last of the wardens killed and blamed them for King Cailan's death? Really?
Look I'm just saying the warden poking his/her lip out after Alistair poked his/her lip out and said he was leaving if they did X and they did X gets no sympathy from me. Alistair was acting like a child. You either put up with it or kicked him to the side. Acting as though he put the wardens entire gathering of armies up to that point at risk is where you lose me. You end up with the same amount of GWs as you started off with. He gave you a choice. Him or Loghain. You picked the latter.

To be honest, they're damned if they do damned if they don't. I'm honestly content, although this does bite for some of my friends who won't be able to romance who they wanted.

Ryz, and the other poster, back on topic, if you please?

Exactly. So they should get all the news out now so they can get all the frustration out now instead of let it bottle up for 5 months.
I'm surprised they even let out this information so soon, and not to expect a backlash.
I don't doubt they knew some people would be angry. I assume they hoped more people would be happy. I'm not sure why they thought keeping the spread numbers extremely vague would be the best way to avoid panic.
To be honest, though, the Bioware employee (forgot his name now) seemed to be floundering a bit on the question. It didn't seem at all like something a marketing team would direct him to say. I think it's possible he just didn't anticipate it and there wasn't a ton of thought put into how people would react.

Cameron Lee, I think.
