Do you think its possible that some of the romances might be dependent on race? I remember people were complaining in Origins about how ridiculous it was for their dwarf romancing human companions, maybe they listened and made special ones for non-humans. If its likely 8 romances, I think:

 

Straight - Cassandra, Cullen

Bisexual - Scribe Lady (ala Kelly), Solas (all elf romances have been bisexual in past games)

Gay - Dorian, Sera

Dwarf inquisitor only - Varric

Quanari inquisitor only - Iron Bull

 

With Leliana, Vivienne, Blackwall and Cole being non-romanceable.

Why do people always make lists where dwarves and qunari would be the only restricted races?  It could just as easily be a human or elf who will only have romance within (or possibly outside of) their race.  I think of Velanna.  She would totally be plausible as an elf only romance.

Honestly, I think limiting romance based on race and gender are the worst options. To me, if you are going to restrict a romance it makes more sense to base it off of alignment(for lack of me coming up with a better description) than anything else.

 

So in DA2, to me, it made more sense for Fenris to romance another man than for him to romance a mage who was super mage rights. Or in DAO, I could see Morrigan romancing another woman or an elf before I could see her romancing a pro circle goody two shoes.

From what I remember, the idea of romances being restricted based on race was mostly a result of some people pointing out that it would run counter to lore, when in fact there has been nothing in the game's lore that states as much.

I sincerely hope not, I really want Solas to be Bi, that way he's at least available for straight people and gay people.

 

If it makes you feel better, Solas only ended up gay on my list because I flipped a coin. Dorian is DEFINITELY bisexual or gay, so my list was a bit flopsided.

 

Maybe I am just stupidly optimistic but Garrus and Anders were brought back, then they turn out to be LIs. Just sayin'.

 

Garrus and Anders were actually more obvious in my opinions, especially the latter. Varric is more in the Joker grey zone.

 

Don't get me wrong, if he is gonna be romancable, I'm gonna tap dat ass, but like said, I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

I don't think it was based on anything, really. People just decided humans can't romance qunari because reasons.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

LIs are restricted by gender. People have suggested they be restricted by race and/or PC affiliations and actions.

My new predictions, assuming 2/4/2:

 

Straight: Cassandra, Cullen

Bi: Vivienne, Iron Bull, Scribbles, Solas

Gay: Sera, Dorian

 

I do wonder about Varric… he is very popular. Some kinda bonus mini-romance only available for female dwarves? Maybe he'll surprise us as a full romance option. Not sure, and it doesn't really concern me, too much. I'm for Team Cassandra all the way!

I'm wondering if there's race-restricted romances. Varric for dwarves and Iron Bull for qunari. I think that'd actually be pretty interesting.
