I can't find anything to differentiate between companion romances and companion "flings".  Are you sure they are different things?

Okay, tossing my votes into the ring, and going all out (meaning everyone is included.......EVERYONE!)

1) Straight - Cullen, Scribbles

2) Gay - Sera, Blackwall (I already have silly story reasons for this one )

3) Bisexual/Pansexual - Cassandra, Dorian, Solas, Vivienne

Now I did say everyone, and here we mix it up a bit, for "sheets and goggles":

4) Female Dwarf only - Varric (I have always kind of liked the idea of him somehow having Bianca come back in the picture, but I'm tossing this out here.......cuz.)

5) Qunari-centric - Iron Bull (either male or female qunari PC's, however this doesn't mean that a qunari PC couldn't get it on with options from lists 1-3.)

There ya be. Oh, I also believe that getting turned down or dumped (if you do things completely objectionable to their core personalities), is always a possibility.

I seriously hope Cullen will be available to male PCs. Had a thing for him ever since I rolled a mAmell.   

As for Blackwall, another Thane wouldn't be cool  , and I could do without Solas. I'm not one way or another, (though, because I'm tired of the gay option being an elf in DA:O and DAII - My boyfriend blowing up the Chantry and being a crazed abomination not withstanding), I hope he's not the gay-only option if he's an LI.

Yes you can romance a companion and have a fling. You try to romance two different LIs and you get a confrontation moment where they force you to pick one. That doesn't happen with a fling.
 

Also Tharan dumps you after the ONS. So yeah how are they considering a fling where you got ditched for a robot a romance baffles me.

 

Romances also have different ending conversations. Again that doesn't happen with a fling. You can marry an LI you don't marry a fling. So on.

Yeah almost all of them (I think Kaliyo might be the exception but I wouldn't romance her if someone paid me). In their few last conversations start talking about marriage and kids (and this gets to levels of WTFery with LIs like Revel).

I'm guessing some of those males are actually flings. There's only 8 main classes (SW, JK, SI, JC, IA, SM, BH, Trooper) Is there any class with 2 male LIs? I know the imps have 1 male LI each (I guess Pierce is considering an LI? But he's clearly a FWB relationship...I slept with him while romancing Quinn and there was never any confrontation). JK has one male LI, Consular has a male LI and a fling. Unless Trooper has 2 male LIs?

 

Sorry, maybe you misunderstood me, ladies always only get one real choice (but with the SW flinging Pierce and the consular flinging Tharan). The classes that get 3 romances, are the ones that have two ladies for dudes to romance (because EYEROLL).

 

 

 

edit: As for getting married, I can only think of one where you can't marry the person (I am ... sort of avoiding spoilers, I guess). Kaliyo'll marry you though.

No, there's no s/s romance in SWTOR and it sucks. The best you can hope for are flirt lines (they seem to have decided to make all their new stuff have flirtable people, I flirted with Master Satele's son on both genders for example).

Not true.  There are several confirmed gay people in Star Wars (including Juhani - thanks Bioware!).  There is a gay guy in SWTOR too, but he's exclusive to Imperial characters, only a fling, and killable (-thanks Bioware....... ).
