It's often up to us to show that the assumptions needn't be true.
Hoping DAI challenges more
I am totally assuming that Cassandra will be dude-only. I am assuming SO HARD you can probably taste it.
So Laidlaw was only talking about Dragon Age games.
Gonna revise my expectations back to only 6 romances (I still hope for 8, but 6 seems more realistic.)
So
Straight: Cullen, Scribbles
Bi: Cassandra, Iron Bull
Gay: Dorian, Sera
Sadly this leaves no room for Varric.
I still kinda think there will be 8 for a couple of reasons. First off: I hope that there will be 8, and that hope subconsciously influences what I actually believe! To be honest: I'd rather be hyped now and disappointed later than disappointed now and hyped later. I'm terrible at delaying gratification. Secondly: It feels a bit disingenuous to claim "We have more LIs than any [Dragon Age] game" when each individual character has the same number of options. In fact a female Inquisitor would have less options than Female Hawke had in DA2. And I'm gonna speculate wildly based off of that assumption.
I'm excited for the game. Even though I am not really interested in Qunari and I think mustaches are pretty much the spawn of Satan... I think I could be happy with even that lineup.

I'm definitely thankful ![]()
I don't think Solas is going to be gay, two gay elfs situation is pretty odd. That means Solas (if he is an option) could be straight or bi.
My prediction!
Cass, Solas --> straight
Cullen, scribe --> Bi
Dorian, Sera --> gay
I think is pretty balanced that way. The iron bull strikes me as a one night stand, but who knows, maybe we have seven options after all.
*fingers crossed for Cullen not being straight*
Man I am surprisingly excited about Sera being gay. Damn the number of playthroughs I am planning on doing keeps rising.
I... will have no life.
I get the general James Vega vibe from Iron Bull, in a possible mini romance arc.
"Are you flirting with me, Basra?"
*fingers crossed for Cullen not being straight*

You have until October 7th. Make the most of the time you have left...

Quick! Live out your life while you still have the chance! October 7th approaches...

I would be happy with that if he's not a full blown romance....but I'm hoping he is.
*Doesn't want Iron Bull to be just a fling!* D:
Still kind of hoping we get the 2/4/2 model, but I can live with 2/2/2 (which is what I originally predicted anyway).
Straight: Cullen, Scribbles
Bisexual: Cassandra, Iron Bull
Gay: Dorian, Sera
Isn't it odd that the second a character is confirmed to be romancable, then that become the sole important aspect of the character for the BSN?
Just look at Sera. People are busy whining or celebrating that she is a f/f romance. They completely ignore the fact that she is a former Friend of Red Jenny, or that she seems to a "Robin Hood" for the little guy in Thedas.
Oh no, let us instead focus on the least interresting aspect of ANY character..... ::Sigh::
Can't really see Cassy as Bi. But it fits in with Viviennes profile.
I'm so happy about Sera! Now all I need to hear is that Cassandra is bi and I will have sweet dreams until Oct 7.

maybe going on a tread about "romances" isn't the right place to look at? ![]()
I just wanted to toss this in here. I keep hearing that Solas "looks like Nosferatu," or "X Character" is ugly. I find that silly, and here's why.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the most popular romances in the Mass Effect series.
Meet Garrus Vakarian (picture is in spoiler tags due to size)
This was a character that one could easily consider ugly, but that didn't stop a lot of people from enjoying his romance. Why was he so popular? For one, he had a great personality, a dark and dry sense of humor, and utmost loyalty to Shepard. For another, he was a friend in the first ME game before he became a (straight) romance. It gives me a smidgen of hope that the DA team does the same with Varric, but I digress.
I can understand why folks might not find one character physically attractive. For example, I think Vivienne looks fantastic, and really stylish. However, her personality is rather repellent to me and certainly not someone I would ever romance no matter what gender my Quizzy was. That being said, why don't we hold off on name calling some of the rest of the companions until we know more about them?
Garrus - unattractive? Seriously?
One could see him that way, yes. He isn't conventionally physically attractive by a long shot. Personally, I see nothing wrong with him (guess my FemShep's next romance), and I love his scars.
General question, not to you specifically: If he's considered attractive, why the hate on the DA companions?
Speak for yourself, I'm easily a turian lover. ![]()

Every thread about the characters is about romances. But isntead of having to make one post in each of them, this was a happy compromise. You can go apeshit crazy about the different romantic options in here all you want. My frustration is that the character threads, serve the exact same purpose apparently.

You don't need to be human-like to be considered attractive in media. Hence all romance stories about dragons, werewolves, big cats etc
Turians were given rather attractive features by modern human standards: they're fit, yet not robust, their faces have these cat-like features and lines which make them resemble some types of dinosaurs, dragons and dragons
Their beauty is sort of animalistic but it surely was made to be appealing and not ugly (like vorcha are, for example)

He's alien enough to not be judged on human standards

well, is the novelty. Sera have just been "revealed" in the romance departmant, is only logical people like to gossip about her. She is an Elf, and a S/S LI. Is quite a novelty in DA a non BI Elf. and a female companion. A novelty for recent Bioware's works.
Once the exitemant, or delusion is quietened, the treads about the companions would return to speculate/discuss about others things.
