Cassandra + Blackwall + Cullen + Vivienne - straight
Iron Bull + Dorian - bi
Sera + Solas - gay

These are my assumptions. I just hope Blackwall, Dorian and IB will be available for some quizzy lovin' (or ATLEAST Blackwall or IB). What the rest are doesn't matter me that much XD

So only one f/f ? Didn't they already say that everyone would have more than one option? My guesses:

Cass + Cullen + Scribe + Solas- straight

Dorian + Viv - bi

Sera + Blackwall - gay

...and I base this on absolutely nothing (and I generally suck at guessing:)

Why do people always make lists where dwarves and qunari would be the only restricted races?  It could just as easily be a human or elf who will only have romance within (or possibly outside of) their race.  I think of Velanna.  She would totally be plausible as an elf only romance.

Yeah. Seriously. WTF right?

It's not like dwarves and Qunari are creepy mutants or anything. For God's sake, Tali and Garrus are LIs and they are a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SPECIES.

In real life, actual dwarves and people with Marfan syndrome or Gigantism have relationships with other human beings too. And obviously they pro-create as well.

e.g Peter Dinklage (known for playing Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones) has a wife and a daughter.

So what if we've only seen a handful of half-elves in the Dragon Age series?

Did you know that there were ZERO female dwarves in DA2? That doesn't mean they don't exist.

I really not. If there are 8 options, 4 bi would allow more playthrough. having 1 gay and 1 straight is enough to show "set sexuality".

well, is the novelty. Sera have just been "revealed" in the romance departmant, is only logical people like to gossip about her. She is an Elf, and a S/S LI. Is quite a novelty in DA a non BI Elf. and a female companion. A novelty for recent Bioware's works.

Once the exitemant, or delusion is quietened, the treads about the companions would return to speculate/discuss about others things.

Have you seen what is going on in the DHMG and IB threads? Neither of them are confirmed romances, but both of them are practically a fan erotica forum.

What I am saying is that I find it sad that romance (or just the hint of) drowns out EVERYTHING else about a character in a flood of squees and tears.

Poor Solas, whether males or females, people avoid him like plague. I like him in National Treasure though.

Lol i've noticed that lately, not sure why? It's because of his looks? He might end up being awesome as a character, we know nothing of him yet.

I don't really need a lot of LI's, I'm fine so long as I have one that I really like

In DAO I only like Zevran, Alistair's a good character but I don't like his romance

& in DA2 it's the same with Anders, he's too mushy (and kinda creepy  ) for my taste, but it's fine cause there's Fenris

I'm just really worried about Inquisition...

Cullen's just not for me, I don't like those awkward types that easily get flustered

And since Cullen has to be either straight or bi, I'll have to live with whoever else I get, or play as a male

-prayer circle for Dorian or Solas-

Generally playing as a male's not a problem, but yeah, obviously I'd like to play as a female as well <_<

Right there with you on this one.

What I find most amusing about it is that from an in-universe perspective, human/elf relationships are the only one with a strong stigma attached to them. Humans may find elves attractive, but a lot of that is fetishization of them, and even then, a lot of the higher ups consider it distasteful, on the line with sleeping with animals. On the flip side, elves have a strong stigma against sleeping with humans; partly due to the "sleeping with the enemy" thing but also the "all the kids would be human and we're slowly dying out because of that" thing.

So the one pairing that has actual, in universe complicated issues surrounding it is the one everyone's ok with as if it isn't a thing.

Nope, Solas's distinctive feature is how bland his face looks - no special marks, no tattoos or hair, no details which make his face...stand out, sort of.

In fact he doesn't seem to even have brows

He kind of looks like a person who got his face burnt and though eventually it healed, he still can't grow any hair

We haven't seen him in any closeups, though. Some of the mid-range shots show some pleasantly angular features and a wickedly sexy cleft chin.

When it comes to romance, I tend to go with whichever character resonates best with that particular protagonist, but going by looks alone, I wouldn't rule Solas out.

I just don't like Solas because he's an elf mage with some kind of strong tie to the Fade. Kind of takes the fun out of me making a Dalish mage. This isn't really romance related though. I just don't like redundancy.

Maybe Solas isn't a LI and we are in fact looking at Cullen, IB, Dorian, and Varric as LIs.

That's going to happen whatever depending on the class you choose. I did a Rogue Archer in DA2 (only played it once and barely finish it) which made Varric redundant.

Guessing character sexualities is a challenge because we still don't know how many LI's we will have, but I'll share my thoughts anyway:

If we have 6 LI's:

Heterosexual LI's: Cassandra, Cullen

Bisexual LI's: Scribe Girl, Solas

Homosexual LI's: Sera, Dorian

If we have 8 (!):

Heterosexual LI's: Cassandra, Cullen

Bisexual LI's: Scribe Girl, Solas, Vivienne, Iron Bull

Homosexual LI's: Sera, Dorian

Solas and Cullen are the two I have most difficulty placing. There are pretty much interchangeable on that list.

I don't think Varric will ever become a LI.

A system without redundancy is a weak system. There's nothing to pick up the slack should one part fail.

I felt the crossbow and speed of Varric set him apart. Plus, I made him my saboteur/disorienter. I felt more redudant comparing myself to Sebastian.

With DAO, I'm not a fan of male HN. Alistair has a much better HN/Warrior type of story. I'm surprised so many people play that way. I liked the Dalish and Dwarves in that game more.

I've seen decent arguments for and against. It essentially boils down to whether he'll be DA's Garrus or Joker.

I don't think he can ever really be compared to these characters, because their arcs are basically tied to a single person. If the series was basically just the Warden or following up with the Champion for multiple games, then I could see that happening. I think that this will likely be, or at least should be, Varric's last time with us as a playable companion.

Well the question is is Varric the character where the devs give in to popular demand and make him an LI because the fans want it(Garrus), or is he the character who, despite popular demand, keeps the protagonist(two protagonists, in Varric's case) in the friendzone(Joker).

And I certainly agree that this should be his last game as a companion, which adds another layer to the equation; the devs wanted to give Varric kind of a quasi romance in DA2 but didn't. If this is his last game, then this is essentially their last chance to do that.

Accident with a fireball ?

Probably

If he's Felassan indeed, then probably it's a result of, well, "an accident" at the end of the book

Nah. I am interested in Solas as a character. His concept art and description are very mysterious

But when it comes to appearance, I'm quite creeped out
