I think he's pretty cool looking... technically speaking at least. That's the first closeup I've seen. Gives me hope for faces in general.

Honestly color me surprised that Sera is gay.
I did not see that coming.
Least I learned it now and not during when I was playing.
Ah well will just role a female character for her then.
My jimmies remain unbovvered.

Don't know whether anything can be taken from this to help guess the preference of some LI's, but in my World of Thedas book it says:
"The view on indulging lusts with members of the same gender varies from land to land. In Orlais, it is considered a quirk of character and nothing more. In Ferelden, it is a matter of scandal if done indiscreetly but otherwise nothing noteworthy. In Tevinter, it is considered selfish and deviant behavior among nobles, but actively encouraged with favoured slaves."

We have
It's... kinda scary
Really? You find this face... scary?
Spoiler
I can see where you come with the bald thing, but he's definitely not unattractive and scary.
The only dude that looks scary is IB. And there are ppl who like him more than Solas. Weird... but then again there are ppl who found Garrus sexy *shrugs* ![]()

I actually like the look of Solas over all the male companions.
Seriously, for me, personality and character >>>> looks and until I've interacted with them I won't know if they're awesome or just meh.

I know... I'm going to devastated if that's the case, since I have reeeaaally bad luck with my Bioware romances and I love the sound/look of him.
I think that it's going to be 1 straight option per gender, 1 gay option per gender then 2 bisexuals.
That'd make 6 LI's, more than other DA games.

I think this game is going to be the first that makes me play as a gay/lesbian main character, since at least one of the LI's are exclusive to that specific sexuality. I think that's pretty great and I honestly wish they had done it sooner.

I find this interesting considering that Solas is the one companion who's personality and character we know literally nothing about(though that's likely to change later today.)

Nope, Solas's distinctive feature is how bland his face looks - no special marks, no tattoos or hair, no details which make his face...stand out, sort of.
In fact he doesn't seem to even have brows
He kind of looks like a person who got his face burnt and though eventually it healed, he still can't grow any hair
Solas is actually very distinctive. He has full lips, a cleft chin, downturned eyes, a small indentation of a scar above his right brow... Not to mention that those eyes are a lovely shade of violet. The only really "ugly" thing about him is that he seems a bit haggard and very, very sleepy. And while he is slim, the Solas thread has definitely taken note that he has some really toned thighs. So no, he's not out of shape or childish in shape (or in face for that matter--he's not a pretty boy type), just has a slimmer toned physique. At worst he is somewhat average. I think he is better looking than average, and doesn't necessarily need to be devilishly handsome.
I think the problem is more that all people see when they look at him is his bald head. And I think he is not actually bald, but more likely shaves his head, due to some of the concept art showing him with a topnotch of hair (the pattern of how men go bald usually is from the front or top center, thus it would have to be shaved into that shape).

It's a refresher, I agree.
Sounds like all the feedback didn't go out the window.

Personally, I think Leliana was already gay, even though she was technically Bi. At least for me. She seemed geared more for girly girls specifically (and not just all women). And she has slightly more dialogue and come ons with my female Warden, I think (or maybe I'm imagining that).
edit: I might even say the same about Liara. I don't know what guys see in her, but to each their own.

I'm happy for those who are happy about Sera's announced orientation, but I'm still worried for my own choices as a picky player who won't play a guy or romance characters just because they're available to my Inquisitor. Based on what I know of Cassandra, and on Dorian's looks (because I'm shallow like that), those are the two I'm hoping most will be bisexual, but everybody seems to be guessing Cassandra will be heterosexual and Dorian gay. Which would be typical, for my premature video game crushes.
Am I the greedy bisexual??? Oh no. Do I have to come out again?

This look of a man who hasn't slept for months, lack of hair (and, apparently, even brows) and any distinctive features is what makes him less appealing than most other companions. He may have fine facial contours but alone it's just not enough
Looks at Jack, she's bald/shaved, but her face stands out and attracts attention
Iron Bull is almost "ugly" but this brutal, masculine face with scars, eyepatch is what makes him alive
Solas looks bland, his eyes are kinda... dead
His concept art, though, shows as a smug elf with very expressive face
We are to see in future how his in-game animation looks

I've seen claims of Leliana being easier to romance as a male warden and claims of her being easier to romance as a female warden.
The fact that she shows some attraction or at least appreciation for Alistair, and will flirt with(and have a foursome with) Zevran if hardened says to me that she's bisexual. She might lean more towards one preference or the other but I never got a strong hint of that.
On the other hand, Isabela always struck me as having a strong preference for women over men(while still being bi; it doesn't require a 50/50 split). She has much more positive reactions to both a female warden and a female Hawke, for instance.

You don't have to do anything. We totally get your concern ![]()
That said, I won't lie and say I don't also feel that Cassandra will be straight and Dorian gay (i.e. the male version of Sera). But I dunno... hopefully Cassandra is at least s/s. Can't really say much of Dorian.

You're probably right about that. But... she's the closest thing to the kind of insane I'm used to. Like the wild girl at a bar. So she's my favorite romance there. I can't deal with the other forms of crazy in DA2.

Isabella always struck me as a sexually bisexual, yet romantically more invested in relationship with women
Probably due to her past

Aren't Alistair and Leliana a couple in the Darkspawn Chronicles?

The Codex in DC rumors it. So a Codex which shouldn't be taken as fact only thinks they get together. ![]()

I am hoping that when more details are released about him, it will change my mind. You are right- his face is really well-designed and has tons of potential. (He's got a real purty mouth.) For me, it's the overall design that lacks flair. Because he lacks a unique hairstyle, tattoos, horns, etc, he reminds me of the low-res placeholder elves from DA2. I am hoping that once we see his character kit, his clothes will have some unifying theme or something that says "YES! that is something that Solas would wear!" All of the other companions seem so distinct and colorful, I feel like he just fades into the background. And that's COLE'S job! Maybe he's just a victim of his own mysterious nature. *shrug*

There's difference in romance lines, she's more caring and gets jealous with ladyHawke than dudehawke (when tallis flirts with hawke)

She actually gets jealous in both, she sounds more protective towards fenHawke though.
