I personally do not think Iron bull is "almost" ugly--he flat out IS ugly to me.  That's my opinion.  Others think he's hot stuff and that's fine.   But I also found Garrus ugly in Mass Effect, and still romanced him, and he remains my favorite Bioware romance to this day.

 

 

 

From his description, I would be very surprised if it was impossible to sleep with him. Unless you are a mage, because mages are too squishy. 

 

Does that have to be a romance?

Is Bioware brave enough to introduce companions with benefits?

Did you not read where I pointed out if he had pale hair (since his eyebrows are very pale) he likely shaved to avoid notice?  His concept art showed dark hair, but it's rare to have dark hair with reddish blonde eyebrows, unless he's like a calico/piebald elf or something.  I think you're simply being contrary because you're determined to find nothing positive about Solas to like.  You're certainly entitled not to like him, but you seem to think no one else should either.  Personally I'd be very pleased to have him be available as a romance.

 

And now I'm dropping this subject because you are evidently determined to be super-negative about a character you know almost nothing about.

Well, here's hoping they announce all LIs. Seems weird to only have 1 confirmed character w/ orientation, 2 confirmed characters w/o orientation, and at least 3 blanks. 

 

Yeah, I really wish they'd just let the cat out of the bag and tell us who's available and who's into whom, but they may wait until they've officially revealed all characters, or at least all the ones they're going to reveal.  Fan tears, you know.

No, it's more the fact that any time anyone says anything positive about Solas, in counter to what you say, you decide to strike up an argument to explain how horrible every feature about him is.  I do not find Iron Bull or Blackwall appealing, but I don't go around telling people how wrong they are to find them appealing.  I accept that their tastes are not mine, and move on.

So, unrelated topic; I think how we've seen in recent trailers and demos how the non-companion members of the inquisition, Leliana and Cullen, do accompany us into the field and don't just stick around the keep all the time, this should address some of the complaints towards non-companion romances.

Agree, people want to put a character in a certain box and imply meaning to things that don't carry that IMO.

We should all be free to express some dislike.. without it getting too serious around here.

 

I repeatedly told the person that they were free to dislike the character, BUT, if someone else is allowed to dislike a character, am I not allowed to express that I like them, without the haters getting hostile with me for expressing my reasons for liking it?  Because there are plenty of characters I dislike, and I don't go around telling everyone they should dislike those characters too.  They're characters.  It's not that important.

I guess he expected that they would be revealing everyone very slowly, but this little leak became public a little quicker than expected

Frankly I've always viewed Mr. Gaider's attitude in this regard as being a touch arrogant. I can understand his frustration with some fans who do apparently want to know the entire game before hand, but some of Gaider's comments on the topic(not wanting to release any information regarding the companions or romances prior to release) to me sound as if he expects us to just buy the game with no real incentive and just take it for granted it's going to be good.

Yeah, at least that way we get the good with the bad. Like if all were revealed the people who are sad will be like "Ah, Sera isn't an option. That's depressing. On the other hand, *insert character her* is an option for me so yay!" 

 

As it is now, those disappointed fans have no good news to counter the bad. The best we have is "Well, we now know Cassandra will be available to at least men." but we all already knew that.

I agree. They are pseudo-companions: NPCs with companion-level content without being companions.

I agree, I'd rather we chill because the whole conversation has me feeling uptight about something that ultimately doesn't matter.

 

In any case, maybe they will reveal the rest of the cast post-E3, at least names anyway.  The only exception might be Cole.

 

I wonder if anyone's openly asked if Iron Bull will be a romance option, what with the info from his bio?

 

My current stance on the characters as romances:

 

• Blackwall - Unavailable.  Sort of hope I'm wrong even though he's not my type; lots of people seem to think he's one hot guy.  His quote, however, makes me think that he's a Warden through and through.  Wardens give up their past lives and families.  He may have left someone behind post-Joining, and may still be hung up on that.  Or he may not, and simply end up putting being an honorable Warden before any sort of pleasure.
• Cassandra - Available, most likely Straight.  Hope for the sake of her female fans she is bisexual and I am wrong.
• Cole - Unavailable.
• Cullen - Available.  Most likely straight, but might possibly be bi.  Has a lot of male fans who will be disappointed if he is straight.
• Dorian - Available, Possibly Bisexual.  Possibly gay.  I suspect he's gay--sorry other ladies, and sorry self.  (I'd like to pursue him too at some point.)
• Iron Bull - Companion with benefits.  Casual relationship, could be considered a romance but is more a friendship.  Bisexual, but will be limited by whoever Bioware thinks is sturdier.  I.e. warriors, but not mages or rogues.  Or qunari and dwarves, but not humans or elves.
• Scribe Woman - Not available.  Yeah, I know, everyone else thinks she will be available and straight or bi.  I have a different theory.
• Sera - Available.  Lesbian.  Confirmed.
• Solas - Available (tentatively).  Probably bisexual, may be straight.  It seems unlikely, due to past fan feedback, that he will be gay.  Hopefully has a very interesting personality so people will look past that bald head.
• Varric - Unavailable.  Straight.  Still in love with Bianca and always will be.  Inquisitor and Hawke cannot compare to the glory that is Bianca.  And even though I like the guy well enough that I'd romance him if he were an option, I'm fine with him being off the table and I think I even prefer it that way.
• Vivienne - Available.  Bisexual, most likely.  Could be straight.  I think she will be the third romanceable woman, rather than Scribe Woman.  She's been given an awful lot of attention for someone who's not going to be available to the player romantically.

I think we can all be pretty sure that Morrigan and Leliana are off the table, to the point I really shouldn't even be mentioning that here because it goes without mention (especially since the devs have already addressed that).
