Bah, they won't give me the option that I really want, so whatever.
I didn't think Zevran, Fenris, or Anders were attractive at all. And yet, I still had a good time romancing Zev and Fenris.

I F*CKING LOVE THAT HE BLOWS THE REALISM ARGUMENT STRAIGHT TO HELL.
Thank goodness. If there was going to be one more realism argument my eyeballs were going to roll out of my head.
They announced this morning in an article that characters will have set sexualities.
oh wow, okay, thanks for filling me in.
Me too!!! Especially since the people that use that argument are ALWAYS so pompous about it
I swear, some days I wanna throttle the guy, but then he goes and says something totally perfect!

I was talking about Inquisitor
So, nope.
Gaider's comments made me feel a lot better about the situation. I think it'll definitely be 2/2/2. I just hope they make the NPCs bisexual and don't skimp anybody on companion romances.

Categorically not true.
I understand there are some people who prefer the idea of being able to romance any character who is able to be romanced, with any PC. That may have been a happy by-product of the system in DA2, for them, but that was not its purpose. Its purpose was to allow more than one option for every type of player, no matter who they were. That remains our goal.
As Mark Darrah tweeted earlier today, we have characters that are gay as well as bisexual and straight. I'm not going to discuss numbers or any further details at this point, so you can make of that what you will, but that allows us to tell more types of character stories without having to resort to ambiguity. Those stories exist for players who don't romance the characters as well, and that's also important. The rest will come as we discuss this aspect of the game in detail, but I'd hope the Dragon Age's team's expressed interest in inclusivity would provide us some benefit of the doubt until that happens.

Let's hope the content of "more" options will also be sufficient.
GAIDER QUOTE: Those stories exist for players who don't romance the characters as well, and that's also important
That's the part that is most interesting to me. I hated that I lost out on character content because I didn't romance someone. I think that ME 2 was the worst for this. Half of your squad just stops talking to you about halfway through the game because you don't choose the "sexytime" option. I'm really looking forward to being able to really get more character development with the companions this time around.

Isn't just that a fancy way of saying it'll be in the friendship paths?
If these means more Morriganish and Garrus like friendship paths and less "You're not sleeping with me? GTFO" I'm all for it.
So Gaider just posted in the resurrected "sexuality" thread in Scuttlebutt. The gist of his comments were that, while he would prefer if the discussion of romances wasn't around "realism", the team is focused on creating more varied relationships, including not locking out content for LI's who aren't being romanced. He also assured people that the team is still focused on providing equitable options and that they will be discussing more about romances in the upcoming months.
I feel a bit better after reading it.
Music to my ears. That's really what this whole LI debate boils down to. LI's tend to get just a few more scenes, and a little more personal time than their non-LI counterparts, and everyone wants their favorite character to get more screen time. Nice to hear they're focusing on making sure everyone gets a good experience with the characters they enjoy.
Huh? Where?
They did say there will also be a "surprise romance option" as well....
Yeah, I didn't see that either. Where did you see this?
I liked Fenris and Zev. I liked Anders until DA2, but I would like a gay romance option that isn't a gay stereotype and isn't elven. Give me a Sten or a James. It will also be nice not to have to break someone's heart because I was talking to them because I found their character interesting and because I was male and they were not they assumed it was romance.
Reuniting with Anders. Semi-confirmed.
Bad surprise. Bad Surprise!

I got the sense it meant that now Anders will tell you about his relationship with Karl all the time.

noooooo don't say that div, don't you put that evil on meeeee
