I'm interested to know the hate for such a minor characters in DA such as Cullen, and the urge to kill characters they haven't seen yet on the game that is not yet released. If that's your decision, more power to you, but it's quite strange what with the obsession of killing.

They give us the option to kill though, so you can't just question the people who express those desires. Bioware themselves are the enablers.
Sometimes I wonder why they bother -- since they clearly wanted to revisit some things anyways (like retconning Leli, Anders, Wynne, etc).

That's pretty much what some of us have been asking since they announced the LI system. I'm not opposed to the system for DA:I, but the reasoning isn't great. I'm happy to give them a chance to give us some clarity in the coming months though.
It's a character thing, a personal thing, some people are just straight no matter what, some are gay no matter what. Why I was happy Traynar and Cortez were homosexual.
I actually think it's a bit insulting to make everyone bisexual just to appeal to the gamers.
It worked in DA2 because the characters could easily have been bi (with maybe the exception of Merril but she's the only one I haven't romanced as the same sex yet), but then there's Sebastian. Could you see him being bisexual?

Disagree completely think the ambiguous playersexual da2 approach was great. Very sad that they've gone with arbitrary targeting orientation for gating. Others are entitled to approve of this change but others like me will bemoan the horribleness of it.

My honest answer? Yes, I could have seen him as bisexual, sure. He'd still be a prince torn between country and his spiritual vows, he still would have most likely been chaste as a romance regardless of sexual preference. He still would have had all the same character arcs. I know bisexual men that will talk about their interests in women, but sometimes don't about other men, especially in public. Either way, would it have drastically changed his character if he had been bisexual?
FYI: You can be attracted to both genders and enjoy relationships with them without sex. Just like my orientation doesn't change regardless of how much or how little sex I'm having with either gender at the time.
See, I liked it the system not because it "just appealed to the gamers." I liked it because I didn't feel like the companions needed to specifically announce whether or not they were into men and women just to make them interesting and well rounded characters. I personally don't like the assumption that bisexual characters are only included to please the player, myself.
I've even read a post (not one of yours) that bisexual companions and LIs shouldn't exist at all because they are "just fan service," and that only gay and straight LIs should be in the game.
Anyhow, representation is fine and I wholly support set sexuality with that intent in mind. However, that doesn't stop me from asking why the writers said that a set sexuality makes a character more fleshed out. I've heard some great feedback in the thread, but I hope that given time, the writing team themselves clarifies this.
That's my take it on it.

The first impression of him is wanting to kill every mage, of course if not met him as a mage first. That part I forget mostly on but remember making him run away one of the three times I talked to him.
The second time he was better or little more neutral to mage slaying. Which he is ok on, now to see what becomes him in Inquisition.
Im still holding on the sword hilt yet. Only cause I dont like Templars. I remember more bad templars than decent ones. There were some but never really seen but couple compared to the rest.
Yeah, more playing to mage side, with only one or two ever with Templar side. I know circles has its use but, they shouldnt be confined like that. I do remember a guy saying something about those tranquil being easier too. Just like Im against Chevaliers way of slaughtering elves in their homes without justification first. I would tell them show me beforehand. As Hawke, Aveline never liked my siding with the two elves that sought justice.
Sorry, but it doesnt sit well with me.

No no no, i dont think you understand why the new system is so perfect. Let me explain.
Remember how in Dragon Age 2, there was a character you liked, and could romance them regardless of what gender you were with no impact on the actual romance quality at all? Everyone wins right?
Well, see, now with this new system, some characters will be locked off to you for arbitrary reasons. Now only some people win.
Its really quite revolutionary.

I wonder how it may affect the popularity of characters.
I always thought, say, a lot more characters would've had bigger fanbases in ME if they had the Liara treatment. While it seems all Da2 characters have equally sized fanbases.

I can definitely see where you're coming from. If Dorian ends up being a m/m only option, I'm both going to squeal and scream because hodddamit, that ****tickler on his face...

Am I the only person getting a bit concerned about the use of "win" to describe "successful romance"? Make all the Mass Effect 2 jokes you want, but the notion of a romantic partner being treated as some kind of prize isn't exactly progressive thinking...

A lot of people complained about her hair, as loud if not louder than her sexuality. Gamers are just fickle sometimes, and when something new pops up, they'll have something new to grumble about.
Just wait and see if my theory is correct about Cullen being bisexual. Then you'll see a real crapstorm.

Anyone complaining about her hair is sheltered in the middle of Kansas or something.
I don't know. I was a skater punk in the 80s and 90s. I've seen far crazier hair than that. And had crazier.

I use the term "everyone wins" because it is an actual term referring to a situation in which everyone has a satisfactory resolution.
I don't view women or men as a "prize" if that's what you are implying.

Let me guess: A whole lot of Kool-Aid, Maniac Panic dye and other assorted products in your past?

Where did Bioware even pick up fans like that?

Manic Panic sounds familiar. I think I had turquoise. Then it faded to sickly green. It clashed with my skin..looked like i was dead for awhile.

Her hair in the reveal pic was awful. The lighting was all wrong and it looked like lego hair.

They are just fans like the rest of us. Pretty much like most folks in the world, some end up lacking common sense and good priorities over others. It doesn't make it any less eye rolling, but I try to ignore them for the most part.

WHAT. D: These people clearly have absolutely no taste. You can't go wrong with pixie cuts and bangs.
