Sheryl made Isabela in the character creator and picked the second darkest skin color available, same as Duncan's. I don't know who her DA II concept artist was or how her character design was handled, but I suspect that if she'd been made with the Frostbite engine originally, there wouldn't be any confusion.

I REALLY REALLY hope not, because the interview stated that he would sleep with anyone, and we don't need more slutty bisexual characters like Zevran and Isabella for people to reinforce the old stereotype that bisexuals are all promiscuous, so they're understandably bisexual. Someone doesn't need a reason to be bisexual.

I think bisexuals should be given a range of sexual personalities, and 'adventurous and sexually active' is a valid one.

If Iron Bull is bisexual, he's not going to be the only one.

He Has a reason to be promiscuous though, i think of it like an amish teen that goes into the city and then gets obsessed with every vice he/she can find because their society isolated them from experiencing these things and in doing so made them unable to control their desires.

My guess is that Iron Bull is in a similar situation.

It's strongly implied that he became bi because he was groomed that way by the Crows.  Some of what he describes could even be called child abuse. It never felt to me like he was born that way, rather became that way because he was forced to.  Your Mileage May Vary of course, and I know there is fans that would be quick to dispute that.  I respect their views, but it always bugged me some.

Wasn't Origins done on the Unreal Engine, which was pretty ancient by 2009?  The sequel was done on Eclipse if memory serves, which was a better engine.

It's why I haven't been able to do his romance past the very first time I played the game.  It isn't a tremendous issue for me, but the implications for me aren't pleasant.

 

I can see why posters might see it different and I don't think anything is wrong with that.   It just didn't sit well with me.

Goodness, I did love me some Aarin Gend.  Of course, at that point in gaming history, I was pretty starved for any romance content that wasn't for straight dude PCs.  I'll remember him fondly for what he gave to me in those cold, choiceless days.

EDIT: Natashina, I hate to be nitpicky, but isn't that picture of Jacob from Mass Effect 2? I'm not too familiar with the engines and whether that matters or not. I just remember Jacob in that arms-folded pose from after his loyalty mission.

Mass Effect was UE.

Dragon Age Origins and II was done with Aurora, which they've been using since NWN/KotOR/JE. They haven't changed it, they've upgraded/rewritten chunks of it over and over.

My point with the pictures was that as time went on, they got better and better at rendering things like skin tone.  Some characters didn't change appearance so much as got an upgrade with tech quality.

Thank goodness I got a computer upgrade so I can see that in all it's glory.  My hubby got a PS4, so he isn't left out either.  I'm really excited for this Inquisition.  I'd also be thrilled as punch if we can get Cassandra as a bisexual LI.
