It feels like you are afraid of how people will judge you BECAUSE you are bi. I don´t know you and most likely never will, but even if you don´t tell people that you are bi, it´s not something to hide either imo. I don´t go to every sranger and say: " Hello there, I´m gay btw!", cause that´s just stupid, but if they ask me i will tell them. I joke alot about my sexuality so i have fun with it in that way aswell. True story: i came out in school when we still shared the showers after gym class. You know what the teachers had me do after i came out?, they hade me use the teachers showers cause i made my so called "friends" uncomfortable...so i agree you don´t judge characters in the game after their sexuality, but you can´t deny that peoples lives and storys can change cause of it...i don´t agree that people should judge people depending what they like, it´s just a sad truth...i think it´s just nice to have a gay/bi etc person in the games i play...
LOL, I definitely feel that people have judged me because I'm bi, and I don't have any problem with the fact that I don't disclose to most people I know. IF I had a female partner, I would definitely want to introduce her to people and talk about her, but right now, while single, it's not my co-worker's business, or even casual friends, unless we're getting close and talking about past dating experiences. Trust me, as someone whose been both "out and proud" and closeted, it means less headaches, stereotypes, and gossiping about me by people I don't care about. And I'm also a private person in general, and introverted, and yeah, even prudish in some ways. I just *don't* talk about sex with people I don't know well. And I know that people with "gaydar" are going to be the ones I make friends with anyway, most of the time, so generally it works itself out.
As far as having gay/bi characters, I'm definitely NOT saying that all the characters we meet should be "closeted" (or whatever the Thedas equivalent is). I want diversity. I want a wide range of character types, not just promiscuous bisexual rogues, to represent the LGBT spectrum. And I'd LOVE to see butch lesbian characters along side femme lesbians, not just one or the other.
BUT, I also know, from experiencing DA2, that I prefer the "all bi" love interests model. It doesn't preclude diverse LGBT representation, and it shouldn't mean that those love interests are automatically worse or less defined. I understand the issue with resources, and it is what it is. But all of the hemming and hawing in these threads about set sexualities making characters "better" is quite annoying, when you're a person who relates more to the DA2 characters who didn't disclose than those who were supposedly the "realistic" bisexuals.
