This is why you don't pre-c5reate your characters ladies and gents. I personly like this, this means Varric might be a LI now.  DOn't see why some are upset, some characters not wanting to get jiggy with another race makes sense.

Oh characters having racial gender restrictions do make sense I never said it didn't. I hope they have choice restrictions too cause that makes more sense than the former.

So they are going back alot more to the roots then i thought, Baldur´s gate had this race "****-block" aswell . in Baldur´s gate it was no love for the small people, AKA gnomes and dwarves. This for me is BAD news...owell...

Would make alot of sense, and in Varrics case racial restriction is the only way we could ever romance him.

I suspect there will be no restrictions outside of that (i.e. elves and humans).

Race restrictions make the gender restrictions more easy to swallow; either go hardcore on restrictions or no restrictions at all, but gender being somehow the only restriction was really, REALLY jarring.

The blue hell it does. It's just an arbitrary limit that adds nothing to the game. It doesn't add realism, it doesn't add depth, it doesn't add replay value. All it does is take away choices and punishes players for choosing a certain race as their inquisitor, along with sending the message that interracial relationships aren't ok.

I do think the fact that she's not a dude plays into it with some, but I also think it's the fact that it's three oversexualised "minorities" (not really in the case of women but you get what I mean) put together.

Thank you for the lists. Perhaps my inquiry is more toward the name calling. Isabella as a sexpot or way worse and my fear that this ethos is already continuing with say Cassandra a la Aveline and the automatic dismissal of her as a romance because she doesn't fit a mold. It makes me somewhat sad at the prospect of once again a female LI who happens to enjoy carnality would be called out while a male wouldn't just like a female who doesn't look like a wilting violet is being cast aside as a viable LI. It has more to do with the perpetual shaming of female characters while the men are usually ignored unless they are viewed as too feminine which I also have issue with. I'm not saying you have to like a promiscuous character, but do we really need to shame them. The main reason I prefer the Bioware games is because I don't see stereotypes with them the way I do with say Manga or Anime. Bioware games have always broken stereotypes for me, but then stereotypes are thrust down upon the characters. It just makes me kinda sad.

It does add replay in fact, it also means characters liek Varric might be a LI now. If you want to bang everything, go play the first witcher game.
