I'm saying that they shouldn't limit the player's options based off of arbitrary decisions. Those decisions should have a purpose behind them.
Gender gating can have a purpose; that purpose being representation for people of different orientation.
What purpose does race gating serve?
To get a player to play as a race it normally wouldn't maybe? You then have perspective from the other side of the coin. For example, I have never played as a dwarf. Maybe because I am short in real life, I prefer to not be short in a game.... I dunno, it's just me being me. Now, I love Varric. I never considered him romantically, but I adore him! If he was made a romance, I could see me deciding to finally make a dwarf if he was only attracted to dwarfs. Same for the Qunari. I have issues with the Qun, so I haven't decided if I could really bring myself to play as a Qunari even though I know they are Vasshoth. But if I fell in love with the Iron Bull and he would only romance a Qunari, I could see me doing it. Then I would learn more about these races that I had been avoiding for my own, way off, reasons. Sometimes you have to lead a horse to water and in order to guarantee multiple playthroughs through multiple races and genders you may have to give a major incentive like set sexualities and race preferences. It makes the world feel more real, because this is what happens in real life relationships, while also allowing people who may not normally do so, gain a better understanding. I think it will be done tactfully so I am not concerned about that at all. This is Bioware after all and why I love them.
