ME1&2 were downright awful in that department, though they fixed it in ME3.

We still don't know if a particular race/gender/sexuality combo won't have a choice though. All Gaider suggested is that certain combos might have less choices.

His words seemed clear to me ' no guarantee that a particular race/gender will have as many prospects'.
If that's not setting up some options for only one option I'll be amazed but hey maybe I've been hit by so many horrible hammer blows in a row and can't see the wood for the trees.

That suggested to me that some races/genders will have more options than others, not that everyone will only have a choice of one. I can see why that would upset people but I do think people are being a little pessimistic considering we don't yet know just how many LI options there are going to be.

Forget about which LI is gay / straight / bi ... The question we should be asking here is will the sex scenes be PG or R rated?

Not R rated, that's for certain.

Honestly, this is probably my BIGGEST annoyance right now.

Telling us still like this while we still don't even KNOW who's romancable in the first place!

It's like they want us to suffer! ;A;

I know they feed on fan tears and all, but we're at the point now where I wish they would JUST TELL US. If my dwarf is going to be Forever Alone, I'll live with that, but I would really like to know well in advance, so I can get the wailing and rending of garments out of the way and not be soured on a game I'm looking forward to right when it comes out.

Hm. Ignoring the 2/2/2 or 2/4/2 model.

Straight: Varric - no for humans and qunari, Cullen - No for Qunari, Scribbles, Vivienne

Bisexual: Cassandra, Iron Bull - no for Dwarves or Elfs, Solas, Blackwall

Gay: Dorian - No for Qunari, Sera

That's like... the ONLY potential problems I could see so far?

Problems for a Qunari Inquisitor so far are the only ones I can potentially see, mostly due to racial issues.

If we're assuming that the difficulties in animating the scenes factored into the racial restrictions at all, then those scenes better be hard PG13's to justify it.

Because honestly, I'd rather have fade to black.

Ugh, navigating these virtual relationships is turning out to be more complex than some of my actual relationships. I've got to be the right race and gender, and make choices that please one of the 2-3 romance options available, or my Inquisitor ends up alone and unloved. Heavy is the head that wears the CC concealing helmet..

Yes. There is no guarantee that a particular gender/race combination will have as many romantic prospects as another.

And that's fine. Romance options are not candy to be dispensed fairly and evenly, and if there's a particular character that you've decided before the game is released that you must romance, it's advisable you play a different PC. The most we can do (and have done) is ensure that there's no overall slanting towards a particular group-- it's all over the map, for various reasons.

I don't particularly mind if some inquisitors end up getting more candy than others. The one thing I'm curious about is if you stand by the ideal that each player (and through that extension, each inquisitor) still has some degree of choice (Meaning, will each inquisitor have at least 4, two male and two female, options)? Or is part of that player having choice going to be gated by what species they end up choosing? I imagine these are all things that will be revealed in time, but it's worth posing.

Is it distressing or encouraging the amount of work they've put into the romances (by the sounds of things)?

I can't tell.

Same.

Animated love scenes usually look laughable to me anyway. (and as nice as ME1 were 1. They were neigh identical save Liara's intro and B. Male Gaze was strong).

I rather have FTB anyday.

There are some Origins modders who are amazing at cutscenes, admittedly they didn't do any sex scenes that I know of, but DahliaLynn is sooooo good at romance...I love her so hard.

Fair enough I don't think there's room for the number of li that would be required for 2/3 per variation and The more li the greater propensity for diminishing returns in terms of quality. As far as I'm concerned there's been nothing but bad news regarding the romance approach and am preparing myself for worst as best case scenario is hardly rosy IMO.

Yeah I don't either, I just wanted to overall look at the potentials ones we had so far, I think it'll stick to a 2/2/2 system we've predicted so far

Yeah, she's one of the few I like in terms of romance/sex scenes. Inviting your LI to curl up in your tent with you was nice.

That makes sense. Varric has already stated he isn't attracted to humans. Cullen and or Dorian may have had enough bad experience with Qunari that they're uncomfortable even romancing a Tal-Vashoth. Maybe Iron Bull worries that he'd break an elf. Perhaps Solas or Sera has been oppressed by humans at some point in their lives and they can't get past that?

Problem is the engine Bioware is working with is not mod friendly. So whatever scenes they do end up using, you can't mod.

Pfft only thing that made Origins sex scenes palatable was replacing the love scene music with the porno music mod.

Well, personally I'd rather they'd go for light R hard PG13 because they're never going to get better if they don't work on it, and because our society is too hung up about sex and needs to relax. I've got this whole thing about how messed up it is that they can show a brood mother's six ****** flopping about to disgust us, but Morrigan has to put on a bra and Samantha has to shower in her underwear.

But if the option is between fully animated scenes and a lack of race restrictions, then give me the lack of race restrictions and fade to black.
