Its starting to sound like some actually play these games primarily for the romances....
I think people either have entitlement issues or they expected the game to be exactly like DA2.

Oh thank the Maker for that! I don't think I could have taken additional race restrictions. Thanks for answering that for me.
To be clear, Gaider did say that there was no guarantee that a particular race/gender combination would have as many romance prospects as another, but that's a long way from saying that they are race restricted.

To an outsider who had never played the games. Reading these forums, they'd be forgiven for mistaking these games for dating sims.
I'm playing the game to listen to Alix Wilton Regan talk for 50 hours.
she does have a lovely voice.

Speaking strictly for myself, that isn't the case.
My outrage on this is strictly a matter of principle. I find the decision to be a horrible idea that limit's player choices in a franchise built around player choices, and an (almost certainly) unintentionally offensive stand against interracial relationships.
From a game play perspective, it doesn't actually affect me.

I don't mind their policy. I think with those rules in place though, they should have made a better spread of races among companions. If possible, even more companions to boot.
Why do I keep getting the "You don't have permission to view this thread" everytime I try to quote someone and not use quick quote? Is it just me or is anyone else getting that?
Well, it's at least heavily hinted by Gaider that there might be race restrictions. Check be last dev post in thins thread and the last one i the Cassandra's thread.
Annnnnnnnd now I'm sad again
most of my PCs were going to be dwarfs to and I have a bad feeling that them and qunaris are really going to get the short end of a race restriction stick ![]()
There's the confirmation.
That isn't confirmation. That's evasion and double-speak.
Tell me, if you can, how get from "there is no guarantee that a particular race/gender combination will have as many romantic prospects as another" to, confirmation of racial restrictions? Especially as we already know of one reason this will be true (gender restrictions)?
This is blatant ass-covering, and we all know it.

And who are you to judge if people do?...i play it cause i like the settings, the politics, etc, and that i can romance people i prefer (mostly), in a RPG setting, is a nice touch i can´t really find anywhere else...but it is nowhere near the most important part of the game for me.
Or, you vote with your wallet.
I don't have a problem. I plan to play bother female and male inquisitors and intend to try EVERY romance/scenario.
The developers don't owe me anything. My mind is open and willing to try anything with this game.
she does have a lovely voice.
I wanna know who the other voices are

No problem here

Agreed. 3 female companions and only 4 races that aren't human (and 2 of those are elves) is pretty huh with this news.
Edit: I always forget about varric. Damnit. I blame his height.
I am honestly holding off any planning until we get the full list plus restrictions.
I wanna know who the other voices are
Oooh that would be nice.
No problem here
So I'm the cursed one
today has not been my day.
I think people either have entitlement issues or they expected the game to be exactly like DA2.
I think that there's a problem with some people being too emotionally attached to certain characters, which leads to them feeling like they have some sort of ownership of them. This in turn can lead to some thinking that they deserve a say in the development of said character, then feel resentment when the reality clashes with headcannon.
I hope most of the rage on the last few pages is about the race preferences and not the gender ones. Are gay companions not allowed to ever exist? ![]()
As it stands I'm not going to allow any of this to change my plans for what inquisitor I'm going to play. This is just an annoyance.
The issue is, is it simply optional for me to pick them up, or can I tell them to get the hell out of my keep after I've recruited them?
I was a fan of da2 approach. Really dislike the opposite way they've gone with with masses of arbitrary restrictions.I think people either have entitlement issues or they expected the game to be exactly like DA2.

Headcanons before the game is out and you have played most of it, is kinda stupid in my book. Then again sometimes it can´t be helped i guess lol. It is their game so Bioware do what they want with it, but people has a right to be heard one way or the other. But they do not own ANYTHING of Bioware´s.

Thats a good point. Because all I see now is "WAHHHHHH I can't play how I want. This game sucks"
I don't think the developers owe me anything. I will roll male and female inquisitors and try all the romances. People need to learn to adapt or have an open mind
I wonder, given the game was originally designed with a purely human protagonist, if the race restrictions mean characters who weren't originally intended as romances had them written in when the option of non-human protagonists arose. And if humans are least restricted, simply because initially they were the only game in town.
So people on Tumblr are blowing up about race restrictions for romances.
Can someone point me to the source on this? Because I'm completely unable to find it.
