Racial restrictions now as well?
I don't like it. But now Iron Bull's bio of "bedding anyone that doesn't break" makes me think that if he is an LI -- or fling or whatever -- it could be solely based on race.
My female dwarf WILL ride that Bull!!!

Just as long as they tell you straight-out when you're attempting to flirt with them "Nah, I ain't interested" I do not mind race-gating in theory. In practice, there shall be much fist waving if it's with a character I find myself attached to, but c'est la vie. I play DA games a million times so it's no biggie.

You ever considered that it MIGHT be because they are just not that into you?
That I don't have a problem with.

XD ah BG2.
Well the one good thing maybe if DAI is as popular as BG2 BW would've done fantastically. So while I'm disappointed at the romance news I hope DAI is a return to BG's success for them.
(Though I'd hope DAI has as much ability to customize the Inquisitor as you did with Bhaalspawn. Please give me a snarky, cruel, intelligent, manipulative *Inquisitor plz thx).
*not bhaalspawn. XD I already got one of those.

Are people saying interracial relationships are "unrealistic" now?
It´s as realistic as Animations costs...![]()

Romances seem to be quite time and resource consuming content. Why would they want to place *double* restrictions- gender and race- on them, to the point where only a tiny fraction of the audience ends up experiencing content that took lots of effort and resources to create?

That's not what he said. He said that there was no guarantee that a particular race/gender (emphasis mine) would have as many romantic prospects as another.
Then why bring up race at all?

It's a touchy subject, but interracial and inter-species aren't quite the same thing.

Yeah, my giant Nordic dad and 5' asian mom aren't real. Nor am I. I'm a figment of your imagination.
This post isn't even real.

Juhani was lesbian (although there was a bug that made her available otherwise).
She was, but it was carefully hidden because Bioware didn't think it would be accepted, but times have changed, now lesbian and gay Lis are out in the open.

To be honest, I was glad I ran into the bug though..
Didn't know her intended role until later.
Love Courtenay Taylor. I wish she had a part in DAI.

Same here. My Indian father and white American mother never existed
. Let's start an imaginary club.

There was no indication that any LI would be interested only in their own race. Everyone seems to be assuming the worst, based on a very broad statement.

Because Ianamus asked if some races had less than others. The fact that he included gender in his answer is telling, IMHO, but it still isn't a straight answer. All he really told us is that there were restrictions, but he didn't say what they were.

Then if it was only a matter of gender, the answer should have been "No."

Always assume the worst. That way you can't ever be disappointed, only pleasantly surprised.
Besides, Bioware was already running low on their benefit of the doubt reserves as far as I was concerned.

If racial restrictions must be applied in that way (which I hope so much that they are not cause its a dumb restriction) I just hope that it doesn't end up with humans getting the majority while other races get the short end of the stick, I'm not to worried about elves since Bioware has always had elf LIs in their dragon age games I'm more worried about being a dwarf or qunari getting the shaft on that end. I don't mind playing as another gender thats fine I can deal with it but I don't like that I may have to play as a race I'm not fond playing as or getting hardly anything for playing as a race I enjoy. Now racial restrictions with some things make sense like being an elf would cause other elves to open up more easily than they would to a human that makes sense to me and is fine but having to play as an elf because a character I'm curious about has a thing for elves is not.

Yeah, its not like the most popular romance options in Mass Effect were inter-spec....Oh.
Not the point, and i'm not one of those that does think it's unrealistic.
I'm just pointing out that inter-species relationships aren't the same as interracial relationships.
