I consider the realism argument to be invalid.

It's cherry picking and makes me angry when I see it because it's always applied arbitrarily.  "This thing that I support is realistic.  While this thing I cannot be bothered with is unrealistic."

With respect to romance content there's already a whole heck of a lot of things that aren't realistic due to the realities of it being a video game.

If Realism is not a good term...whats a better term?

Oh and I am sorry if I offended. I just think its great that all the companions won't instantly want my inquisitors. I have no issues being rejected. :)

And yet, we still ultimately got two of the best romance options in the series.

In your opinion. I thought Talis romance was horrible and how they handled her face in ME3 was a giant middle finger to her fans.

I am not comfortable with the suggestion that sexual orientation is a preference. Please do not confuse the two.

I'm not sure I necessarily agree with that. Whilst not a choice, I still think it is somewhat of a preferance.

I didn't choose to be attracted to women and not men, but I would still definitely prefer to date one over the other, if that makes sense?

I can only speak for myself but I don't play the romances for the awful sex scenes, I play it for the sappy romantic dialogue.

Honestly they could cut out the sex scenes altogether and have the entire romance be fireside chats ala origins and altered dialogue and I'd be perfectly happy.

Once again, get creative with your scenes.

Im not asking for a hardcore love scene, im asking to be able to be romantically involved with characters and not have it locked by something a stupid as Race!

Then Garrus and Tali are again a bad example. Shepard could only be one race.

I'm sorry, but there is no magical 'be creative' button that frees developers from having to spend a ton of time and energy on content.

They might want to animate things like hugs or other forms of physical contact (non sexual, ofc XD) during romance chats...this will cost more with more race possibilities to animate.

Yep, I was fine with the fade to black scene with Garrus.  I guess some cuddling or w/e would have been nice but his romance had amazing content (in both quality and quantity) in ME3.  It was his personality that made me a fan, anyway.

Ugh don't remind me. Couldn't even give her a face but could scan Chobot in. Bleh bleh bleh.

Anyway I guess if nothing else this got me more interested in making sure I can play a varied amount of personalities with the Inquisitor and not have them walking around with the idiot ball so there's that I guess :P

Or you could, y'know.. practice what you preach, and not be so intolerant of those you deem to be intolerant.

I consider myself to be a tolerant person.  But I don't feel that means that I should be tolerant towards those that I feel are intolerant, nor do I think that this makes me a hypocrite.

We're heading down a tangent here that's going to make me prone to removing posts and/or closing the thread though.  Lets stop.

Same.

The kissing usually ends up not lined up correctly or clipping anyway.  (don't get me started on that eye searing cuddling scene in ME2).

That scene on Rannoch where she faces the sunset, then slowly turns around would have been perfect... *grumbles about missed opportunities*

The issue here isn't ultimately whether or not a particular person will *like* the romance.  It's only that challenging character physiology doesn't mean you can't have a romance.  It just means you have to find some other way than traditional "hot kiss followed by partially clothed shenanigans" to handle it.  In short, it actually means getting more creative with something besides person on person contact.

You can cuddle Garrus. Call him up after the SM I think and you get some god awfully animated cuddling.

Garrus has so far been my favorite romance. It was so...nice. Just...nice. I like in me3 when Shepherd wakes up and he's sitting by her bed, reading.

Yes. They are different things. I PREFER vanilla over chocolate ice cream. I PREFER to drive to work instead of taking the bus. I PREFER blond men over brunettes. My sexual orientation is not a preference. I would be happy to discuss it further via PM, as I don't want to derail the thread, but I stand by my earlier statement.

It's an english thing, really. I prefer eating chocolate cake to dying is a perfectly valid sentence, for example. So yeah, sexuality is still technically a preference from a semantic standpoint. And with regards to sexuality literally everything is labelled a "sexual preference" regardless of how attracted/unattracted somebody is to said thing. I don't see why gender is any different.

And yeah, feel free to PM me if you want to discuss it outside the thread.

I don't understand where this dichotomy of "If you don't want X restrictions, then you want all the companions to instantly want your PC" comes from.

I don't care if my character gets rejected. Hell, if my character were half as much of a jackass as I am, I would want them to be rejected. I just don't want them to be rejected based on their race and not their personality and actions.

What? You didn't like having his mandible gauge out your Shepard's eye?
