Yes. There is no guarantee that a particular gender/race combination will have as many romantic prospects as another.
And that's fine. Romance options are not candy to be dispensed fairly and evenly, and if there's a particular character that you've decided before the game is released that you must romance, it's advisable you play a different PC. The most we can do (and have done) is ensure that there's no overall slanting towards a particular group-- it's all over the map, for various reasons.
So, then, the bolded can only happen if you guys tell us who all the LI's are and what flavor of Inquisitor can and cannot romance them before release day.
I just don't want them to be rejected based on their race and not their personality and actions.
But some people just aren't going to find other people attractive. A gay man will never hook up with a woman even if her personality is everything he could want, simply because he's not attracted to her. Varric isn't going to hook up with a human because he only likes dwarves.
I mean, it's one thing if you flirt with them and they say "EWWWW YOURE A FILTHY SHEM EW EW EW", in which case I'd be angry too. But it's another if you hit on them and they say "Look, you're a great friend, and I like you, but I'm not just attracted to humans/elves/dwarves/Qunari." Which I think is what Varric said in DA2.

If i want to romance a dwarf as a qunari, i should be able to do it. I dont need a hard core sex scene, i just need some good dialog.

The real problem was how they hyped it so much, what with a poll and everything.
If they hadn't said anything or had said early "sorry, but we won't be revealing her face" It wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad.

And, again, they only have a very finite amount of time to do this in. Even just writing the scenes takes up precious time that is desperately needed elsewhere.
Speaking as a writer (projected release date in three months!), trust me. The creative process is all about whittling away everything you want to put in so you can get it released before the rents due and you get kicked out.

Which I already plan on doing, but how can someone who wants to romance X on their 1st playthrough be sure they are picking the "right" options in CC in order to be able to romance X without prior knowledge of X's restrictions.
How can we "pick a different PC" "before release" like Gaider said, without prior knowledge?

Possibly. Our games aren't really intended to be played by way of "I'll pick the character I want to romance before the game even begins," but rather discovered organically. That said, we know there is a subset of fans who do want to do that, so it very well may happen. Whether it does or not isn't up to me, however. If it doesn't, I'm sure the information will be readily available after release, if that's what you really want to do.

There's nothing wrong with them having whatever attractions or preferences or whatever you want to call them. They're more than free to have those.
And I am free not to recruit them into my army and house them in my keep.

Trust me, it will be spoiled on the forums before the majority of us even get to play.
I wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't count on them telling us before hand, either.
