But being encouraged with slaves. Oh, I feel the drama in his story.

Yeah, I'd talked about this as a possible "thing" with his arc in his dedicated thread back when we were thinking LIs were probably all bi. I could definitely still see it being a part of his story.

I really really hope that the mustache guy will be a romance option. If I can romance both him and cullen with my female inquisitor I'll be really happy <3

In the future I would love to see an Itachi Uchiha type character. Basicly a guy who is really smart, knows what he is doing, very calm and doesnt get angry.

I think that Playersexual is the best option, I dont want any content locked away from my inquisitor + the realistic argument is not valid since Thadas is a fantasy world.

I think that it will be so cool to have a romance in which you help the character discover its sexuality <3

Some people still see it as such, like Gamlen and Oghren when it comes to m/m relationships. Cullen's parents could have been like that.

There will always be people like Oghren who think girl on girl is hawt but two guys doing it is icky, but even then he's not actively condemning it or anything. The chantry in Thedas doesn't teach them that it's a sin or against nature or some equal BS. So the idea of a closet doesn't exist IMO (except maybe among the Dalish) because same sex relationships have been always accepted unlike RL.

So that's why I can't see him in the closet struggling with his bisexuality.

What do you think of the Dorian/Tevinter nobility plot that was talked about above?

Referring back to the "Will NPCs follow you around", check the trailer at 1:03. One of the people heading toward the Inquisitor is unmistakably Leliana.

Plausible I guess. Homosexuality in Tevinter seems a lot like homosexuality in ancient Rome where it was okay as long as you were the one doing the penetration.

I don't know, that could potentially be really, really problematic if he had a former elven lover who was a slave, because that's not a situation where true consent can be given. I would rather them just go with the "I was encouraged to marry a nice blood mage and provide our families with lots of grandmagisters" angle and completely avoid bringing slaves (or even allusions to ancient Rome's views of homosexuality, because they went hand in hand with rampant misogyny) into it.

So...that pretty much confirms 2/2/2, ja? Since there's no other way such a goal could realized without full player/bisexuality? Unless there is and I just haven't thought of it... Well, don't I feel better about this whole situation...

Wouldn't 1/4/1 also work?

I'm not saying that representation shouldn't be shown, but we should feel fortunate that they're there. It's been stated many times that it's just an added bonus to the already amazing story.

The romance in Jade Empire is what made me a BioWare fan. The romances in other games have satisfied me, but it feels a bit odd to say 'thank you for not having shallow, boring companion relations.'

That's rather close to 'thank you for not sucking.'

I'm not sure I'm grateful; as a customer it feels odd to express gratitude toward a company.

I do appreciate the developer's openness to non-heteronormative worlds and passion when it comes to the story and characters.

I am not at liberty to confirm anything like that.

Out if curiosity. Do you know what characters are LIs and their orientations and plots? I'm not asking to tell us any details, just... Do you know or maybe just like us you have only some information cause it is not directly connected to your work?

It's basically that nobles aren't allowed to have homosexual relationships. It's encouraged between slaves and owners can do whatever they want to their slaves. It's just taboo for nobles to have homosexual relationships with other nobles. Or relationships with slaves, but I imagine that's just not done.

I don't think it's the same, exactly, as the Roman idealism. That was basically a sexism issue. Being the bottom was like being the woman. Tevinter isn't sexist. I think it's largely based on Tevinter's genetics based nobility system. Breeding the most mages gets you on top. Not breeding means less mages for your family, which means less prestige.

No, because that means there is only 1 straight person and one gay person, male or female, while the other 4 are all bisexual. 1/4/1 is basically what DA2 had but with a homosexual only character as well.

I just meant homosexuality and issues arising from it might be a part of his backstory. Not the past lover part. I don't know exactly how they would implement it in practice.

Definitely on the slavery/misogyny thing in Rome. I think Tevinter's issue is a totally different thing, like I said in the other post I made. It's just about spreading their genetics and making more mage babies with other nobles that have high genetic propensity for breeding mages.

Well they never said it would be an equal distribution, just that there would be gay, bi, and straight characters. Therefore 1/4/1 could be a possibility.

How does it not work? No matter what you play, you get options.

Ah okay, I don't have access to WoT now so thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, I can definitely see it, he falls in love with a slave/noble but they can't be together so he's on a mission to reform his country. But we're not going to Tevinter so I'm not exactly sure how he's going to do it.

The Venatori are a Tevinter faction, so popular theory is that he's following them, for whatever reason.

I do know the romances.  I'm not familiar with all of party member plots, though.

Relationships with slaves - aka official relationship, or just sex? Because the latter is allowed and even encouraged. A magister can have a favorite slave(s) to sate his desires without frowning upon by the rest of nobility.

I meant established relationships, yes, like committed relationships.

But not the same number, if the straigt LI is male and the gay LI is female, that means male straight or gay PCs will have 2 LIs, and female straight or lesbian PC will have 3 LIs.

Yeah, even if the description is kinda vague, I don't think that a reaction to an established relationship even with Liberati would be pretty. Don't know if there's any sanctions though.

I'm sure it would be frowned on, since their whole nobility system is based on who breeds the most mages. Marrying into a family with lower mage counts directly damages your families chance at staying in favor, so I think it's surely not well accepted.

Great now I'm imagining him with a normal kid who's all "I HATE YOU DAD. Why did you sleep with my nonmage mother and curse me to this magic less existence!"

bwahahahaha.
