No. Because they were playersexual. Had they said openly, or at least hinted in the slightest, that they were bisexual characters then that would have been just fine. The problem arose when BioWare tried to have their cake and eat it to.
From what I have learned, bisexual people are not any more or less likely to advertise their sexual orientation. If the person happens to be monogamous, most tend to assume they are not bisexual. To the point where they literally argue with the bisexual that they can't be bisexual because they are with on person....
In other words, a bisexual character that is only known to be bisexual because of the metaknowledge of multiple playthroughs is not an incorrect representation of bisexuality.
Unless, of course, a bisexual person would like to correct me on this (admittedly I'm not, but I see your argument come up all the time and it seems less and less true every time I see it).
I'm planning on having my red headed female elven mage romance Cullen so count me in among the xenophile group as well.
I was just explaining the views regarding cross racial relationships in DA's world is all.
I was hoping for a Female Qunari with Varric, but that probably aint'a gonna happen at this point.
Isn't kicking someone out of group solely because of their sexual preferences a little... unfortunate implication-ey?
It's not really any different to kicking someone out because the dismiss the concept of a romance with women.
Ever heard of ant-style totalitarianism?

Lets not get into definitions of what it means to "design a role" or what it means to roleplay or what have you. I design a role when I play RPGs as well, to which I then react accordingly to the events that I am given while in the game. This is different than yours (which is fine), but I'm definitely the type of gamer that is fluid and organic in my relationships.
But I'm also the type of gamer thats like going in with the idea and concept, and I organically mold it to the game as I play through. Ideally I don't even know who the characters are. Sometimes my characters have in game epiphanies and revelations and they end up being completely different and it wasn't planned at all (My KOTOR playthrough fit this to a tee, and it's one of my favourite memories in gaming).
I'm not saying that you wanting to do it your way is lesser than mine, but it's just that I don't feel that something like this means we aren't letting players plan their characters, unless we only take a specific subset of "planning."
The principal reason why I can't plan through a full playthrough with my first character, though, is because I feel that the game will innately force me to deviate from what I want to do in it because I'm unaware of the game mechanics and narrative elements that may or may not substantiate the goals of my playthrough. But I'm also someone that (if it were up to me) wouldn't reveal who the romances were (whether or not this makes me a jerk or not, I suppose, is up to the other person) and I'm also someone who is okay if a game doesn't have romance content. It's just different.
I wasn't really attempting to define what "playing a role" was. I was simply stating that unless you are the kind of player who literally wants to know *nothing* about the story and characters beforehand, and just wants to react organically to everything, you will always, consciously or unconsciously be weighing decisions and characters before you ever even start. This may be based on a defined role, or it may just be based on the player's personality. Regardless, it is simply not realistic to expect or want players to react principally organically and not to metagame and plan in advance. Even players who *try* to play organically can't help forming preconceptions. Even refusing to provide information won't stop them because A) they will just look the information up elsewhere or
do as I do and create a "dummy" character for the first playthrough that serves no purpose except to educate me as to what the choices in the game are. I literally reload most major decisions with this character just to see what some other option would have been.

I would advise NOT letting The Iron Bull overhear that.
*dying laughing*
Harem confirmed for qunari PC.
Kinky...
If anything, it sounds like the devs are almost being threatening about it, and that isn't right

I'm trying to explain the reality of it. The alternative would be "we could make more romances" but that means "less other stuff" (probably still character stuff."
This thread is now closed. I think people need a timeout to cool their jets because people are getting increasingly defensive.
I will be reopening the thread (or at least creating a new one) soon now that some time to cool down a bit and digest has occurred.
