Varric is 39, Cass is few years younger (~36), Cullen is around the same as her, IB looks to be middle-aged from the Fires Above, Warden is obvious 40's. I don't see Vivienne being younger than mid-30's, considering her posture, Solas and DHMG might be younger than 30's, but close. And well, Cole is an eternal child, so it doesn't matter.

Quit speaking your lies!!I think he'll be a LI for female quanri only. Along the lines of "friends with benefits."

The thing, for me, is just that being there makes the bond stronger. It's the fact that we both saw all of this (inevitably mostly horrible) stuff together and fought through it together. We were both present when all the important decisions were made. The results of the game feel like more of a collaboration. It's just an element that makes the LI character feel like more of a part of my version of the story and of my character's life.
I totally understand that this isn't the experience that everyone wants. Some people like the "someone to come home to" narrative. I respect that. It's just not my thing.
I also prefer companion narratives, but when I say "someone to come home to" ( © Clockwork_Wings) I'm looking at the positives. The inquisitor's got a lot going on, they may value a little bit of stability.
It's one way to roleplay.

I thought only Alistair was a clueless virgin. Leliana, Zev and Morrigan all seemed rather experienced....
They were.

I don't see any companions besides Sera who'd be considered in the 20's range. Varric's gotta be in his mid-40's by now, Cullen somewhere in his mid-30's and Cass late-30's to early-40's. Everyone else within those age ranges, except Grey Warden and Solas who could be in their early 50's.
Cole is definitely in the 20s range, at least physically. Solas is really ambiguous, and I think that may be intentional. Could be anywhere from 20s to 30s...

Yeah I'd be a lot happier about the NPC romances if everyone was "playersexual" again.

Yeah, I'm just talking about his appearance. And mentally he's 12, so.

Qunari lives a lot longer than human, IB could be quite old in term of years.
Cassandra lowest possible age is 36 years old, otherwise she was sub-18 when she saved the Divine in 9:22 and that doesn't make much sense. Most people doing that math of her age put her closer to 38 years old (i.e 20 in 9:22).

I concur. It had its flaws and its detractors, but nobody would be locked out of a story they wanted to tell, which is always nice.

Well, it's not that I can't understand that other people see it as a positive. It's just not something I'm personally interested in. People like different dynamics, I get that. It's just not one that interests me.
Like others have said, I would be much happier with NPC LIs if they'd been introduced with an all bi/vague system. Also, if they added two more bi companion LIs, so everyone got the normal amount of companion LIs, but 6 companions + 2 NPCs is really unlikely. For me, though, losing one companion option is disappointing. There's just no way around that.

It would actually be nice, instead of the Embarassing DAO romances, and the Emo-tastic have to prevent wrist slitting romances of DA:2, i mean come on i hope for something Mature, Smart, and Lasting if most of the party are Old enough to be Parents.
[Edit] Everyone had so many issues in DA:2, or they where Clueless Virgins in DAO
Isabela was emo and Leli and Zev where clueless virgins? What games did I play?

I find it amusing that people are equating mid 30's with "middle aged"! I've never felt older! ![]()
I do agree that Varric, Cassandra, Leliana and Cullen are mid-late 30's. The Grey Warden is probably in his late 40's.
Iron Bull is a tough one because I'm not sure if we know enough about how qunari age to gauge it.
Vivienne and Dorian look like they are probably late 20's through mid 30's.
Sera looks to be younger. Probably early to mid 20's.
I'm not sure for Solas and Scribe Girl, at this point.
In general, it's only an "older" group if you compare it to JRPGs, which tend to have teenaged party members. Most Bioware games have companions in their mid 20's through mid 30's.

From what I understood, qunari don't live that much longer. Maybe an average of ten, twenty years longer on average, given their more advanced medicine.

Me, based on the pics of the 9 that were being passed around before the We are the Inquisition trailer, I saw no reason all 9 couldn't be LIs. They're of age, not animals, not genetically related to the inquisitor...but if wishes were poppy we'd all be dreaming.
I'm far, far more likely to pick a companion my first playthrough, although, if it's possible, romancing Cullen to a saarabas has its storytelling promise...

I don't really consider 35 to be "old" or "middle age". I mean, most people playing teens in movies and TV shows are like 30. lol

The Companion romances in DA:O, made me feel they where all talking big because the moment you go the next step, you get thrown into this clueless corny, ridiculous love scene. maybe its just me.

Seeing as both Leli and Zev are the ones who in fact give subtle hints for sex instead of the Warden asking blunty, I really must have played a different game.

Except it wasn't lazy. It was inclusive, so gay and lesbian players would have a choice of romances instead of...none. From what I've seen, the romances in DA2 don't suffer in comparison to DAO any more than I would expect them to, being in game with a fraction of the development time.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the options are. I really don't want to pick Cullen, if he's even available for m/m, but I only like Dorian from the male companions. I can't say what I'm going to pick until we have an idea what sort of options we're looking at.
I'll be honest, though, if Dorian is available, I'm not going to bother with the other choice. It was the same with DA2 and ME3, always Anders and Kaidan, respectively. I wonder at this point if a game will ever motivate me enough to play through with a second romance choice. lol

I would recommend it. I always end up finding myself surprised that my second choice often ends up being more interesting than my first choice.
