Elaborate, because I don't get this impression at all.
Well in regards to the dragons comment I was using hyperbole, of course.
In general, though, every tweet, every comment, every blog post I've seen from Gaider regarding what players thinks what may or may not be in the game, no matter how logical an assumption it may or may not be, he'll express, at best, a playful amusement, and at worst an annoyance that players try at the guessing game at all instead of taking a "wait and see" approach.
Exactly. "Closets" don't exist in Thedas because it's always been accepted unlike RL. That's why I'm skeptical about the idea that Cullen was bi all along and he just flirted with the female mage because he was struggling with his sexuality.
It's not that hard to rationalize. If you were a male mage, maybe he just wasn't that into you. Just because someone is bisexual doesn't mean they are equally attracted to both genders.
edit: whoops, I see you elaborated. Yeah, I see what you mean now, that him being bi isn't what you're objecting to, just the notion he was in denial about it, because there's not much reason to bottle that up in Fereldan. Makes sense! IGNORE ME!

-Varric being gay/bi is extremely unlikely. The fanboy backlash would be way too much for whatever the gain would be. People see Varric as the essence of masculinity and him wanting the D would cause meltdowns on meltdowns. It's not happening (but if it did it would very much amuse me)
-Usually the "Carth" (Alistair, Kaidan, Jacob) is straight but with Kaidan playing for both teams in ME3 I think we've found our bisexual in Cullen. He could be straight but if it's going to be 2/2/2 I am fairly confident he'll be bi.
-Solas... Is hopefully straight. The women are losing their minds over him and they can keep him. Unfortunately I do see him ending up as one of the bi or gay LIs because he is just so ugly and demented. And ugly and demented are probably the two most common traits for Bioware gays!
-Iron Bull: Definitely the dark horse but who knows it's possible.

Cullen flirting with the female mage and not the male mage is not a valid argument for his heterosexuality in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Anders and Kaidan were both exclusively interested in females in their original games but became bisexual later on.
From a story perspective it may not make sense but everything in Dragon Age can and will be retconned so who cares?

Sad thing is, I don't thing he's wrong about Varric. I definitely thing Varric might be bisexual - if nothing else he's perfectly comfortable with a male Hawke flirting with him, I believe - but I do thing there'd be outrage over it, unreasonable as it may be.
Whether or not that would affect Bioware's decision on the matter, who knows.
Ugly is uh. In the eye of the beholder. I can't think of any not-straight Bioware character I thought was ugly. I can think of a couple of straight ones, though!

I kind of hope that Varric isn't a romance option at all. I really like the idea of him being BFFs with both Hawke and the Inquisitor. I'd rather see his story arc explore the Bianca angle (Is she dead? Is she just in hiding? Can he move past her?).

Totally agreed. Especially if part of his storyline this time around is relating to the Bianca aspect. I'd like to learn more about Varric's past outside of his relationship with Bartrand. I know that there is some stuff in the comics about it, but I'd also like to see it in the games.
