At least if not Sera, I really think Cassandra would fit this role at least.

I think Cassandra could be persuaded a little easier than Sera

That would mean that there will be 3 female companion LIs and only 2 male companion LIs since Cullen is an NPC. That is unfair.

Won't it be unfair either way with the gender restrictions?

Since Cullen probably won't be gay, straight female PCs get one male companion option.

As I said many times I predict two companion LIs and one NPC.
Vivienne, Cassandra and Scribbles.
The only way Vivi won't be LI if Solas is Kirby's character and LI.

Yeah. And the 3 male companion LIs could be Dorian, Grey Warden, and Solas(that way there are 3 human and 1 elf per side). :P

No

True.

No

I'd prefer Iron Bull or Varric take the slot too. I only put GW because as I said that gives each side 3 humans and 1 elf.

Why is that unfair?

That assumes both the female companions are straight or bisexual. Couldn't Vivienne or Sera be only into women?

Why is that unfair?

Unfair is perhaps the wrong word. Unbalanced is probably better.

If all the female LIs are companions while only 2/3 male LIs are, then anyone going after the female LIs will get more content.

I'm sure they will even if one is an NPC (as she'll probably be the lesbian option).

It seems fairly likely he could be bi, though.

I almost said another inappropriate joke, which elu would definitely frown upon.

I seriously doubt I'm going to get 'more content' than straight women.

Chances are Cullen and the female NPC equivalent, most likely Scribbles) will be the bisexual options. That way everyone has equal romance content available: 2 companions and 2 NPCs.

I might actually rip my hair out if yet again the one lesbian in the game isn't a companion. <_<

If Scribbles mentions a toothbrush I swear to god...

They've never said that they're interested in offering 'equal romance content.' They've said they want PCs of any preference to have options.

Why you say that?

Well, at least as likely as not. I don't have any evidence, but there's not really any that he isn't and making him bi would balance things. They didn't balk at it with Anders or Kaidan. Let's be honest, we have every precedent that they don't care that he was only into the female PC in Origins. From a meta standpoint, it totally makes sense that they'll choose balance over what some people will see as a retcon.

I just can't see them giving only 1 companion option to the straight Male Inquisitor.

Perhaps Mass Effect is making me cynical ;)

All this talk always boils down to the same question: will the romance options being stricly equivalent or not ?

And I'm not sure I'm positive about it.

Yeah.

Straight male PCs could have three options (all three female companions available -- two are straight, one is bisexual).

Lesbian PCs could have two (the bisexual female companion plus the NPC lesbian option).

This is possible given what they've said so far.

David Gaider basically posted saying that they understood the want for balance and they weren't pulling away from supporting the LGBT community. I don't see that kind of statement backing up a decision where they're going to royally screw us with the new system, instead. Allan and David Gaider seemed to try their best to assure us that they weren't going to make an extremely unbalanced system. I'm going to trust their word for it.

I mean, the system might not be perfect. I'm willing to say maybe the choices will be slightly unbalanced. I don't think they're going to be, "STRAIGHT GUYS GET TWICE THE OPTIONS LOL", unbalanced. I think everyone will definitely get the same amount of options, that's the bare minimum that my faith in Bioware covers. At worst, somebody might get stuck with only 1 companion LI while others get 2. Which also sucks and I hope they'll do better next time, if it happens.

Right. I'm not saying this is what they'll do, but we can't assume that BioWare is going for full equality. Simply that whatever your PC's gender and sexual preference, you'll have more than one option.

Giving straight male PCs one more option than straight women, lesbians, or gay men isn't 'screwing them over.' Likewise, having a straight male character or a gay female character as an non-companion isn't screwing anyone over.

Screwing people over is something like what the ME series did. I mean, for ME 2, I had to buy my PC a girlfriend, the didn't even come with the box. :P And gay men got jack until ME 3.

Call me cynic, but after their statements on the survey, their word™ doesn't mean much to me.

Well, what one considers to be getting screwed over is inherently subjective, I guess.
