I'm not saying you're wrong - the heart wants what the heart wants - but it always makes me a bit sad. There are so many different and wonderful thing available! How could you not love them all?

That's how I feel about the people who limit themselves to solely the female or male romance options.

Though I must say that Vivienne doesn't appeal to me. She is intelligent and witty, which I like, but I see her as too manipulative for my Inquisitor.

If only I didn't have this inferior genetic stock.

There's just nothing about Vivienne beyond her looks(and even that is sullied by her horrendous fashion sense) that appeals to me at this time.

I like her arrogance. I like that a single outfit of hers shows more thought (and is probably more expensive) than my entire wardrobe. I like that vanity combined with an outfit that says 'you ought to be looking at me.' I like that she knows exactly what she wants and sets out to make sure the world conforms to her wishes. I like that she's power hungry. I like that she's a bit mean.

I'm not sure I'd want to get to know her in the real world, but as a character, I think she's delightful.

I like female characters to be more like Merrill or Bethany, mean girls are just not for me. I am in no way limiting myself to a "salad bar", per say, but I can't see why that is bad. Anyway, we'll see when the game is released.

P.S.: I actually really like salads... :)

Salads are delightful. I find they're under-appreciated.

Are you hoping Scribbles will be sweet/nice?

I have not seen anything that i would like in Vivienne or any of the other companions but i will not decide until i play the game as that is the only way to get to know people.

I've never found arrogance to be an attractive quality. I also can't stand political games and manipulations.

I hope she will, and I also hope that Sera will be a funny, light-headed and friendly type of person like Varric or Zevran were. If so, my choice (if considering girls) will be obvious.

Why are you people so against Viv as LI... :(

Cause she would take Sera's spot.

Sorry mate there's no place for three LIs in this town.

Maybe she started out as an idealistic young mage who wanted to make the world a better place for her friends, but years in the game have hardened her and made her jaded. Maybe as you two journey together and she watches your Inquisitor make a real difference, she rediscovers that part of herself.

I want a bad boy. The male LIs are always so nice and soft.

"Ash- I was born in New York City. Both of my parents are actors and they tried to steer me away from the business! They told me that if there’s anything else I want to do I should do it. It was kind of hopeless though, I loved acting. I did my first professional play when I was 8 years old in New York. It was a play based in New Zealand, Ron’s Garden by Julie McKee. I had to learn a pretty hardcore Kiwi accent. That was the beginning of my exposure to dialects, which eventually led to Tali’s unidentifiable pseudo Eastern European, Quarian Gypsy accent in Mass Effect." Source

It's a fabrication.

I think our definitions of what a fabrication means, differs in this context. No biggie though.  :)

That would be fine.

I'm just saying that right now I'm not dealing in maybe's and if's; I'm dealing in what I know about the character and what I know about the character doesn't appeal to me.

Me too! But I don't think, Bioware will ever create a boy who behaves like Morrigan, Miranda, Cassandra or Vivienne. If I think of Bioware I think of men with family or relationship issues, like Carth, Sky or Steve. or I remember dependend friendly guys like Alistar, fruity guys like Zevran or quiet guys like Fenris who are not really story relevated (though I like the boys in DA2 more than the girls). but we'll never see a man who's as intelligent, arrogant, powerfull and superior as the female main characters. I think Bioware adores the females more than the males. Just compare the main companion romances Carth and Bastila, Alistar and Morrigan, Miranda and Jacob, Ashley, Liara and Kaidan, Dawn Star, Silk Fox and Sky.  Bastila and Morrigan are very powerfull. Morrigan resists the fade and knows more about the world than other companions, Miranda and Morrigan are always right, if they comment on something. And Dawn Star and Silk Fox are more story relevated characters than sky. I don't say the guys are always boring, shy or full of family issues. Alistar, for example, has a nice background story too, but just compare him with Morrigan or other female characters who have a really strong personality. I think the only game with balanced characters was DA2. that's one reason why I love it.

What about Atton Rend then? From Kotor 2? He is somewhat uncommon LI for Bioware. I wish there were more like him.

You forgot NWN, which had Aribeth's touching, tragic plot-relevant romance, and that one guy whose "romance" was so forgettable it could barely be construed as such. And while they did improve with Valen in HOTU, he still falls under the "quiet, nice guy knight-in-shining-armor" we're all used to. Meanwhile the guys got Nathyrra (who has a bit of Jaheira in her + drow) and Aribeth (again + still plot-relevant and tragic).

And let's not get into the inequality of the Baldur's Gate romances.

That's because he's not from Bioware XD Obsidian made KOTOR 2. But yes, Atton was great. If there was an LI like him in this game I would be very happy.

KOTOR 2 was made by Obsidian, not Bioware.

Oh... sorry. My bad :) Then it's true that Bioware has none of arrogant, powerful and witty male LIs. Sad.

There need to be some variety of personalities applied to men and women, indeed. I did notice that the male companions in BW games tend to be kind, troubled and funny. Women tend to be aggressive and bossy (my favorite type), cute, arrogant etc etc... A mix of those personalities would be interesting.

You have a point! But yes, it would be refreshing and cool to experience such a character and romance.

I can agree with this, even if so far I've liked a lot the male LI's personalities (Anders a littles less, but still liked him). The thing is, I'm afraid that the intelligent, brave, powerfull and superior man in the party is suppossed to be the PC and I don't know how some guys would react to such a powerfull male character...
