I also really like Anders and Zevran (they are my head canon LIs), but I wish we had more choice when concerning guys in DA games, that's all. Whiney and/or light-headed LIs are moving from game to game and nothing changes...

O_o I need to see this. Why does he help you ? And what does happen to him after the battle ?

Uhm, nothing. There's hints on suicide, but Varric still mentions him in the end, as far as I remember. I've been able to complete his rivalmance on a pro-Templar path only once, it felt so wrong.

I agree with it. That's my point. I don't have a problem with nice, kind, funny or whiny guys, but what I have a problem with is that it doesn't change. It's always the same.

Anders's rivalmance is one of the saddest and repulsing things I have ever seen in a romance. Seriously. It was just cruel.

I've never done it myself(never got around to finishing a playthrough where I sided with the templars), but I'm given to understand that there's a strong implication that he'll be made tranquil afterwards, which he seems ready to submit to.

But I could have heard wrong.

The point is that females wanting a male companion/LI like Miranda or Morrigan don't have one. They don't have a choice between "ice queen" and "delicate little flower" like male Players do.

Same for gay women/men who wanted this trope as well. It's only the straight male who gets this kind of romance.

@ Liara, I will stop arguing over this because I feel I'm off topic. But I hope in the future you'll find what you are looking for.  ;)

As for the next LIs and their orientation, now I will accept whatever the outcome is.  ^_^

And scribbe girl is growing on me.

Indeed. I want an aggressive loudmouth, a nasty guy, a proper bad boy as gay romance option, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

I love the tsundere vibe I'm getting from Cassandra.

As far as I'm concerned, either Sera or Vivienne would make an excellent second LI.

And I'm really hoping that Scribbles is a non-companion LI.

If all romances for women are Companions, I think Cassandra will be Bi, Vivienne Gay, and Sera Straight. Cassandra seems central to the plot and a main person so she will probably be available to everyone. Vivienne seems to appeal to female players versus male, and Sera remains so most likely straight, who knows though.

I also think that Cassandra will be BI because that would be a big mistake otherwise. But at the same time, I don't see why Bioware would give only companions to male players and one npc to female players. So, it's also more likely that scribe girl and Cullen are both npc Lis and BI. But at the same time, Bioware has also proved with the 6:3 ratio,  that their logic doesn't always equal to ours, the fanbase. So everything is possible.

It is possible there are 4 romances of each gender? 3 companion 1 non companion who will most likely be bisexual, which means 1 lesbian, 1 gay man, 1straight girl, 1 straight boy, 2 bisexual women, 2 bisexual men?

if you are attracted to women 3 options, attracted to men 3 options

Most people right now are working under a six LI assumption, and there are some who think that's too many to hope for.

Me, I think eight's really a stretch.

But then, it's not impossible.

I'm expecting 4 based on previous games. Sebastian doesn't count since he's dlc.

I'm hoping for 6, fitting into 2/2/2

In my dreams there would be 8 - simply because there won't be dlc characters so no chance to add in any more romances down the line. However maybe if they did 8, it could be 2 straight, 2 gay and 4 bi....but the extra 2 bi characters could have other conditions to be met before you can romance them other than just being friendly or however its done this time. Maybe a character requires you to be a certain race or maybe the player needs to make certain decisions through the game.

Whilst that sort of thing would usually annoy me a little bit, there would still be 6 characters for everyone else to choose from if they didn't like the specific conditions needed for the final 2.

How many romances did ME 2 have?

1. Miranda

2. Jack

3. Thane

4. Jacob

5. Tali

6. Garrus

DLC. Liara

And Kelly as a sort of a one off.

I think six is all we can hope for, and even then, I'm not sure that's a good thing.

To be honest, I definitely pre-judge a little by what faction a character is obviously with. I know which factions I'm going to support. It becomes pretty obvious which characters just are not going to be on board with my choices. I mean, I'm still going to explore their dialog and everything, either way. I'm not the "MURDER KNIFE THE DISSENTERS" type. But I know which characters are just obviously not going to be my LI or BFF based on their faction representation being the opposite of who I'm tossing my support behind.

To be honest, I actually hope we're successful in undermining this conviction as the game goes on.  But that's because that the type of thing that I really enjoy happening to me!

:)

People are already having mixed reactions about there only being three female companions. If all of them end up being romance options...

Well, there will be a lot of claims of the female characters are only there to serve as romance fodder. Even if one of them is female only.

I don't think that will be the case though. Much as I don't want to see the Vivienne fans disappointed I think Sera and Cassandra will be the female companion LI's. What I still can't decide is whether I think scribe girl or Sera will be the female only option.

Post 2000!

Good going, romancers.

Me too! But I don't think, Bioware will ever create a boy who behaves like Morrigan, Miranda, Cassandra or Vivienne. If I think of Bioware I think of men with family or relationship issues, like Carth, Sky or Steve. or I remember dependend friendly guys like Alistar, fruity guys like Zevran or quiet guys like Fenris who are not really story relevated (though I like the boys in DA2 more than the girls). but we'll never see a man who's as intelligent, arrogant, powerfull and superior as the female main characters. I think Bioware adores the females more than the males. Just compare the main companion romances Carth and Bastila, Alistar and Morrigan, Miranda and Jacob, Ashley, Liara and Kaidan, Dawn Star, Silk Fox and Sky.  Bastila and Morrigan are very powerfull. Morrigan resists the fade and knows more about the world than other companions, Miranda and Morrigan are always right, if they comment on something. And Dawn Star and Silk Fox are more story relevated characters than sky. I don't say the guys are always boring, shy or full of family issues. Alistar, for example, has a nice background story too, but just compare him with Morrigan or other female characters who have a really strong personality. I think the only game with balanced characters was DA2. that's one reason why I love it.

I think it's interesting that my first reaction to Cassandra is 'So, why isn't she in charge of the Inquisition? She seems better qualified.'

I thought that of Alistiar when I learned he was the senior Warden, but his personality was far too timid. Interestingly, this original development was as an older, more seasoned fellow.

How would people feel if none of the companions/follower NPC's (scribbles and leliana) were female only romance options, but say...Empress Celene was?

And then say, one or two of the female companions/followers were bi. But Empress Celene would be the only "royalty" anyone could romance, and thus gay female characters would be the only ones with the opportunity to end the game as "royalty" (similar to marrying Alistair or Anora at the end of DA:O).

I guess I'm wondering if smaller romances for certain demographics that make more awesome game endings possible, is acceptable?

Celene is already confirmed gay by Patrick Weekes. This time the ladies will have the chance to flirt with royalty.

I've seen Gaider say that there's not going to be a marry into royalty option in DAI, though I can't remember if that was in regards to Celene or Cassandra's spot in the Nevarran Royal line.

Just in general I think. He hasn't mentioned either of them. Its not like we really need Royalty anyway.

The Inquisition will be powerful enough at the end to rival any nation!  B)
