I want Briala and Celene to fix what they had :crying:

But yeah, no thanks. Celene is a cool character but not for a romance. It would only really work as a human female anyways.

But I understand the idea you're suggesting to make the world more interactive outside of the companions which would create more options and such. Its a cool idea but I don't know if many of us would want to sacrifice the tried and true companion romances haha.

I can only speak for myself but...

no.

Can you elaborate on why? I'm not trying to cause an argument or slight gay characters, I just honestly would like to know - from my own experience romancing Alistair, one of my biggest rewards out of it was being queen at the end.

Celene is already confirmed gay by Patrick Weekes. This time the ladies will have the chance to flirt with royalty.

I know she's gay, I just mean, if she was a romance option.

well, you can't deny, that Bioware tends to create manipulative, strong, powerful females. I think one reason is, most of the devs are males themselves but I also think most gamers are male and straight and like the imagination of "taming" a strong female. Sorry, if my words aren't best chosen. I don't think this discussion is ridiculous because there are many hints. Just think of the companions in Bioware games, and you will see, they are always based on the same elements.

Morrigan is the only manipulative, strong, powerful female I can think of. Leliana might have been manipulative when she was a bard, but there's no indication that she wasn't sincere throughout her adventures with the Warden.

Cassandra doesn't seem manipulative at all. Vivienne seems rather in-your-face about her thoughts and opinions.

I doubt we can marry her, but I could see flirt dialogue beign available.

I see that, and yea, that is basically what I'm going for. I kind of think that if there were less romances available to me as a straight female, among companions, but there were couple really awesome other, smaller NPC's that could change the ending of my game by romancing them, that it might be exciting to do that.

But I don't know if I'm a weird one, but also I've typically had more options than other demographics, so I didn't know if that made me spoiled.

Alistair was also a companion.

I don't like non-companion romances and don't find them a suitable substitute.  And I do worry that, yet again, the lesbian PC will get stuck with one.

Just in general I think. He hasn't mentioned either of them. Its not like we really need Royalty anyway.

The Inquisition will be powerful enough at the end to rival any nation!  B)

Well, yea, but I remember him interjecting himself into an argument me and ladyofpayne were having regarding whether or not certain romances should be human only and she was using the Alistair example of him becoming king and only a human noble can become his queen.

I'm trying to recall whether she was pointing to Celene or Cassandra as an example that might have that same development, which Gaider proceeded to shut down.

How would people feel if none of the companions/follower NPC's (scribbles and leliana) were female only romance options, but say...Empress Celene was?

And then say, one or two of the female companions/followers were bi. But Empress Celene would be the only "royalty" anyone could romance, and thus gay female characters would be the only ones with the opportunity to end the game as "royalty" (similar to marrying Alistair or Anora at the end of DA:O).

I guess I'm wondering if smaller romances for certain demographics that make more awesome game endings possible, is acceptable?

I'd rather have a lesbian companion, personally, though I have nothing against the idea in general.

With regard to Celene though: I doubt marrying another woman would be considered an acceptable thing for a queen to do, due to the lack of offspring. I'd definitely like to see flirting with her be an option unique to female Inquisitors though.

Hmmm. Considering you guys were talking about marrying a companion to become royalty. It could be that he meant Cassandra. Which makes sense since we don't even go to Nevarra anyway.

I would actually hope the flirt option is available to everyone, she just only flirts back if you're female.

As much as I love Celene... no. Maybe a flirt here and there..

But I would personally prefer to fix the relationship between her and Briala instead.

Probably.

I don't feel like digging through the old BSN for the thread to confirm.

Anyway, the gist of it was that that development wasn't going to happen, so I think it's safe to extrapolate from that that us becoming royalty won't happen. Celene mused that if she were to marry a foreigner, anything less than a king might cause her detractors to rebel. Now that they actually have rebelled, I imagine she's going to be leery about alienating any of her allies.

I could see Femquisitors flirting with her, maybe even getting a one night stand; sure she's getting lonely without Briala, after all.

I can't lie, if Briala didn't want to get back together, I'd probably make my move

It was in regard to Celene and/or Gaspard from what I remember. The person was using Anora's Consort and Alistair's Queen as example.

Good point.

Really, only a human male Inquisitor could marry Celene and become royalty.

Female Inquis would be one-night stand.

1) A female Inquisitor isn't going to be able to marry the Empress and become royalty. If you're able to have a romance with the Empress, she'll likely marry a suitable noble man and take you on as a mistress. I can't speak for other lesbians, but I'd rather be the partner of a pirate, bard, or Seeker than the mistress of an Empress.

That’s not an ‘awesome ending’ in my eyes.

2) I don't care if any companions or non-companions are lesbians. If all the romancable women in the game were bisexual, I’d be happy with that. I’m kind of tired of an undercurrent in this discussion that one ought to be in constant competition with straight men and that bisexual females aren’t as desirable because they count as points for straight dudes.

Yes, we’re talking about fictional romances, but the idea that bisexual women are just lesser on some level when it comes to relationships is one that crops up enough in the real world that I find it kind of gross.
