Well, I don't think it's going to happen, but if I'm being honest.. I'd take slightly less developed LIs over only one companion choice. It's not the choice I'd like the most, but that's already off the table, so. Yeah. Especially if the NPCs were the ones mostly getting shorted, it's the better of two lesser options, in my view.
I'm holding out hope that the NPC characters are going to be strong. They were put alongside the companions in the trailer shot so I think Dragon Age is really trying something more substantial then Mass Effect ever did. IF it really is different/substantially stronger then the Mass Effect equivalent then I think I will be ok with there only being one option amongst the companions. But all of this is assuming 2/2/2 and that LG gamers finally get to see companion characters of their orientation. Even if I don't end up liking my one option I'm excited for this prospect.

To be honest, I never really felt like I needed a specifically gay LI and I don't have any specific feelings about getting one. I would have been happier with a gay non-LI companion, maybe with a quest similar to Aveline's. I was very happy with the all bi/vague system and I'm still a bit disappointed to see it go.
I can't say I'm in any way really okay with only having one companion choice and the NPCs still don't really appeal to me. I've said it before in this thread, but having the companion LI with me through all the actual decisions makes them feel much more integrated into the story, for me. I'm not into the "someone to come home to" dynamic. NPCs just aren't going to have that same appeal, for me. The truth is, I'd be lying if I said I thought there was a chance they'll ever appeal to me as much as a companion LI with the same amount of content.

Why not?
If there was no reason than any woman would do, yes?

But if they come with us to the base camps and not just stay in Skyhold, that would breach the gap a lot.

Well, I can't speak for them but I have a good feeling about Sera.

I'm probably lying to myself too about it haha. The dynamic didn't work for me in Mass Effect. But, the vibe I get...or am choosing to get haha, is that the NPC's would be a different sort of power couple. The new trailer had a shot that a lot of people seemed to think was of the Inquisitors mobile camp and Leliana was seen there. So maybe at least one of the advisors travels with you into new regions and has a lot of responsibilities there. It's still not the same, but if say...using the PAX demo with Crestwood, you're sneaking around back for an ambush with Varric, Cas, and Viv while Cullen is leading the frontal assault with your soldiers? If they can be actively incorporated into whats happening instead of just sitting back at home base waiting then I think it could be cool and substantial; even though yeah, it still isn't a companion in the traditional sense.
I'll take any gay companions definitely haha, not just LI's. But if they are going with a system other then all bisexual, I'm trying to find ways to look forward to the system. If I don't focus on that I'll just end up dwelling on how sad it made me when I found out Ashley wasn't going to be a romance option for femshep in me3...that was the first new Bioware game I played after coming out, she had been my fav. romance, and with Kaiden announced I had thought they were implementing the DA2 style, so I got super excited for that content and then....well. Toothbrush.
So I don't need a gay lady companion in this game or in every game, but I do want to see it happen, at least once.

I think Bioware LI's have improved with each game, beyond incorporating different sexualities they have incorporated different attitudes towards sex and romance. I felt companions have been well-written, and even if I didn't like them I didn't like them for who they were and not because of stereotypical or lazy writing. Even if my character didn't find them attractive they were interesting.
I am super excited to meet the new crew.

Disagree with the underlined. The system they are using in Inquisition is a degrade from DA2's system imo.

Please no. We've already had two rogues be like that. Not again.

I can't think of a previous Dragon Age companion who was like Isabela. The Black Mountain from Jade Empire comes the closest.

Nah, I don't think she'll be sex-focused like Isabella.

An argument could be made for Zevran. I think that's who was meant.

Degrade how? I was upset ME and ME2 had no one gay, but they did stretch in other ways.

It limits options by not letting everyone have access to who they want how they want.

I used to feel that way(and talked about it in a previous post), and no one more surprised than I to find I found the characters to be stronger, and the choices to be more important when characters identified their sexuality- but that is only true for me if multiple sexualities are represented in the game.

And I find the whole concept of "set sexuality makes the characters stronger" to be

Only Clarkson knows enough harsh words to describe this concept for what it is.

Everything was easily handed to us in DA2. I knew the minute they announced this game it was NOT going to be the same like DA2 or Origins. And yes it sucks. I romanced all the characters with different gender Hawkes but like I said...DA2 was easy. How about waiting until you play the game before judging it?

No need to. Let's say for example Cassandra is a straight only option. I'd have to play a male to romance her. What if I don't want to play as a male that playthrough? I'm forced to do things I may not want to do to discover content. There's no need to wait to know that situation will exist.

What on earth do bisexual LI's have to do with DA2's difficulty level?
