No need to. Let's say for example Cassandra is a straight only option. I'd have to play a male to romance her. What if I don't want to play as a male that playthrough? I'm forced to do things I may not want to do to discover content. There's no need to wait to know that situation will exist.

and easily handed to us? Equal opportunities to get content hardly seems like it's something that shouldn't be given to us.

DA2 allowed anyone to romance who they wanted. That's far better imo

I agree with this, even if it means that it covers all of the bases to the point of simplification. I personally thought the game was not that good, but I remember so many boo-hooing the fact that everyone was bi (or gay), that they felt their preferences were infringed upon. I look at people IRL as people, they are who they, I similarly carry that over to the characters in games that are very personally involved.

What I am trying to say is that its a game. I want a challenge in all aspects of the game...including the romances.   And they are going to make Cassandra Bi so everyone can romance her.  Men and women both wanted to romance Aveline. I wanted my femHawke to romance Aveline.  Common sense dictates that Cassandra will be Bi.

But you already made up your mind about the game so I will shut up now. I plan to play the game fully and then I will decide whether it sucks or not.

My first playthrough is always male and gay.  In DA:O I wanted to be able to romance Sten or Alistair- couldn't.  In ME I wanted Kaiden- unavailable and reticent because of my genitals.  In ME3 James was the guy for me.  Not to be.

But, in ME3 Cortez lets me know very early he lost his husband and Traynor has a crush on EDI.  There was no "very special coming out," every character did not have to speak in ambiguities or ignore talking about important relationships in their previous lives.  Cortez did not seem physically attractive to me, but his competence, loyalty, and personality won me over, and as a gay man I got to see someone in a game who was gay for everybody in that game, and not just gay in mine.

It meant something to me.  I can handle not having every person in the game wanting me or possibly wanting me.  Fenris hating mages was more upsetting to me than not being able to romance Varric.

You wanted to romance Aveline as a female, so Cassandra will definitely be bi? What?

First of all, I never made my mind up on anything in regards to whether the game 'sucks' or not. I don't understand why you're even saying that.

The only thing I've made my mind on is that I already don't like the romance system because imho Dragon Age 2 handled it much better.

I don't understand why romances should be a challenge when people are going to miss out on things unless they play as another gender, which myself and a lot of others are uncomfortable with the idea of that and probably will never do it.

There is no reason for Cassandra to be bi and every reason for her to be straight, but that's another subject.

If that is their reasoning for possibly making her bisexual, I fail to see why they just didn't do that for every LI.

Also I'm confused about the Aveline. No one could romance her and she was no bisexual, could you please clarify what that was supposed to imply?

I didn't realize Cortez had a personality. All I remember is the dead husband, since that's literally all he had to talk about.

A NPC can do that you know.

Romances in DA2 were easy because unlike DAO, there was almost no difference between the straight romance or gay romance. As well as all that "hit the heart button" stuff.

I think bisexuality of Leliana and Zevran was waaaay more complex and "real-like" and interesting, than in DA2. But that's my opinion only.

I also don't mind playing a game again to see more content.  Maybe I'd be more upset if I were only going t play once or one particular way.

I agree. If an NPC is bisexual, there should be more references to it. I mean, Zev and Leliana mention liking both men and women regardless of gender, whereas Anders only speaks of Karl as his lover if the player is male. It makes them feel less "playersexual" in my opinion.

That said, I don't think a big deal should be made about it--this is Thedas, where bisexuality is just an odd quirk, after all. I just want them to be less "bisexual so the player wins either way" and more "bisexual as a personality trait", if that makes sense.

I always preferred Cortez and MShep than Kaidan.  I felt there was a realness to them.  Their relationship touched me.  And when I admitted that... I was bullied and raked over the coals by the mShep/Kaidan fans.

I never said I think the game will suck. In fact, I think it will be amazing. I just don't like the romance system.

And I don't see the challenge in set sexuality when to pass the challenge you become a boy instead of a girl.

Where did they say Cassandra will be bisexual?

So do I. Constant fanservice is making me sad. I want to know that I can't win either way, that a person or a character might turn me down. I mean, it does lessen the whole "Mary Sue" PC attitude a bit. Romances are no fun when they are too easy.

Bisexuality have to be complex now ?

I may have used the wrong word. What I mean is that their bisexuality seemed more realistic and worked-out, not just to please the player, but to show a part of their personality.

It was a flirt icon. Hitting it didn't mean you got to romance someone, just that you could show interest.

How is Zevran's bisexuality more 'real-like' than Isabela's, Anders', or Merril's? Why is complex bisexuality better than simple bisexuality?

Set sexualities don't make romances easier or harder. If you want to make the romances more difficult, make choices in game matter. A choice you make toggling between two options in the character creator is not a direct influence on game difficulty. This is like saying the game is more effectively designed for game difficulty if choosing green eyes makes it impossible for you to kill trolls.

Complex bisexuality and simple bisexuality. I feel like we are discussing carb intake.

Isabela is a great character. Lots of people feel the same about Merrill, Anders, and Fenris; lots of people who played as femHawkes and MaleHawkes. When anyones argument hinges on the 'weakness' of much beloved characters, well, it ...probably won't go that well.

Zev and Isabella's bisexuality was mostly just sex.  Lelianna had a troubled past, and it made more sense that she was more wary of my female warden, not only was she bisexual, but a previous relationship effected her worldview.  Lelianna also seemed much more interested in bonding romantically, so complex(?)
