OK, I get that and that is the code of the game. But from an LI perspective on being gender based, until the choice is made during the character creation, you have four. Does that make sense now?
Yeah, not a mystery to me. What is a mystery is why this conversation has lasted as long as it has. lol
I think that every SO (being straight, bi or gay or asexual) should have at least 2 options to choose from, that would be fair. BUT it doesn't mean that all the LI should be "playersexual" because obviously "playersexuality" is clearly fanservice.
Don't forget that the resources of devs are limited, so they are not able to make everyone happy and that's not such a big deal. Quality over quantity.

She didn't specify which would lead one who never played the games to consider there are limitations from the outset of starting a new game in DA:O.
If I only played the game once as a guy I would never know Alistair was an LI. If I only played it once as a woman I would nvr know Morrigan was an LI. In any one game you have three people who can potentially express an interest in you. And Leliana and Zev can both not be recruited, either by missing them or by killing them outright.

Yeah...lets draw straws and see who gets to be the 'not happy fans' in that situation.
I don't like playersexuality. It makes me uncomfortable that 'headcanons' could essentially be used to deny the LI's are part of the queer community or for the community to erase the ID of a bisexual character in favor of saying "such and such is only gay'. But in terms of maximizing those precious resources, it is the most efficient and inclusive.
This is the same with me, even the same LIs I picked. I replay to see some different story choices, but so far I've always chosen the same romance. ME3 I only played once, but I would still always choose Kaidan if I played again.
That's not to say two really awesome available m/m LIs wouldn't be one thing that could encourage another play, if it happened, though.
Maybe it's Cortez' generic character creator face, maybe it's him talking about his dead husband all the time or maybe it's because I haven't fought alongside him and I have no history with him or maybe it's because I know the sex scene with Cortez is significantly shorter than the one with Kaidan, which pretty much sums up my feeling about how much effort was put into him, but so far I've always chosen Kaidan.

Also I can't understand why the lighting in his lovescene is so terrible. Shep has a freaking glowing armory right next to his bed. What's with the darkness?

I too want to stay away from the whole 'promiscuous bisexual rogue' thing. All the textual (meaning bisexual without requiring meta-gaming to learn this) followed this thing. Except for Anders who was a promiscuous bisexual mage. For the love of Tom Brady, please...don't have the bisexual characters all be promiscuous rogues.

I was more referring to the discussions on the semantics on 3 vs 4 LIs in Dragon Age: Origins. Given that we both agreed, but one party was coming at it from a metagaming perspective (before the CC) and the other was coming from it from a textual perspective (after the CC).
