It was his wording that I took issue with.

Speak for yourself, man. You certainly don't speak for all gaymers.
It was his wording that I took issue with.
I never said that I speak for all gaymers. Nor did I say 'the majority' or 'most gaymers.' I just said 'a lot of gaymers.'

If you don't like Solas as a gay LI then who would you like to be the LI? I think my female inquisitor would love to have Solas as her LI although she doens't like his pants.
Is less bald better than total bald?
Personally I hope for DHMG or the warden. Iron Bull would be okay too, but I don't know about him being a romance option. Qunari are not strictly speaking human. Do you know what I mean? If it was ME he may be counted as alien LI, but then there would be no female counterpart, no female alien LI. So I'm not sure they would do that. Anyway, I would be fine with Iron Bull. Based on previous games it's not Varric or Cullen. They appear to be straight or bisexual. Cole seems to be up in the air with him being a spirit or whatever.

Besides, Sebastian is just plain wishy-washy. Give him some time to cool down, and I question his willingness to carry out his threat to raze Kirkwall, let alone his ability.
What, you can't picture Sebastian showing up at the walls of Kirkwall with half of his face painted blue?

Considering Cullen is almost definitely an NPC romance, and Scribe Girl is probably his female counterpart on that point, I'd like to see more than 6 romances, as unlikely as that it.
Because the likely 4 companion romances are Cassandra, Sera, Solas, and the other mage guy.
Exactly 0 out of 6 that I'm interested in romancing, which is kind of amazing in that it so perfectly dodges my taste, you know? (except Cole, also 0 interest in him) I'd expect out of six, there'd manage to be ONE. But with the romance tendencies Bioware has, it's nah.
Like if that's the lineup, I guess I'll settle for scribe girl since she seems interesting, but I'm not particularly into an NPC romance.
Since the 2/2/2 is pretty much confirmed, I'd like said 2/2/2 to cover companion romances only, with the 2 likely NPC romances being bonuses. Probably het only bonuses, but I've kind of accepted that Bioware's going to be shitty in that area.

If DHMG is Dorian, I wonder if he won't be a romance option. Just because, if the next game focuses on Tevinter, I can imagine him being the companion that returns and they don't like using LIs as returning companions. That is just PURE speculation at its finest, though!

He isn't the only one I've seen expressing the sentiment, though.
I've seen lots of gaymers being like "I don't want another gay elf." Which is silly because we've never had a gay elf to begin with. We've had two bisexual elves and one bisexual human. If you count Mass Effect we've had two bisexual humans and one gay one.
The other argument I've seen is based on Solas' body type, because he's an elf, (I don't know whether or not I'm allowed to use gay slang on the forums), which is also kinda silly imho. Solas may be skinny and hairless (like most elves), but he hardly fits the stereotype. He's clearly older and while I think he has a handsome face, it hardly fits the qualifier of "pretty".
DHMG fits gay stereotypes much more than Solas imho. With his gaudy dress and...dramatic hands. I personally hope that Solas is available to male characters, because I like elven romances and he looks like an interesting character. I don't really want DMHG or the Warden to be one of my options, but I'll also admit that I really, really hate mustaches almost as much as I hate long beards, so it's coming from a shallow place. I know that ultimately I'll probably like both of the LIs because Bioware is very good at writing and that's what matters most.

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean. So do you mean that they are too different comparing to humans, dwarfs and elfs that is unlikely that there would be any romance between humans and qunari for example? Because those things don't exists in the world or because people playing DAI wouldn't want to experience that kind of romance? I don't think it would be a problem if there wouldn't be a female counterpart for at least to me. I could see it that it would be a risk to make the Iron Bull as a LI because I think there might be people who would rather romance someone more human like elf or human for example. So if Iron Bull would be like the only romance option then it might be a problem.

While I certainly think the desire for a female qunari LI is there, I don't think the lack of one precludes Iron Bull from being an LI. Zevran didn't have a female counterpart in Origins, being our only elven companion.

Wouldn't be the first time a gorgeous companion people fantasized about romancing wasn't available for romance!

-Who do you think the love interests will be?-Who do you want the love interests to be?-What sort of love interests would you like to see in the future?-What system do you think they'll use and what system do you want? (playersexual, bisexual, some vague combination, 2/2/2, other restrictions)-How many love interests do you think there will be?-NPC romances; Do you think we'll get them? Do you want them? How do you think they'd work?
- Cullen, Solas, Iron Bull, Sera, Cassandra and Viv
- Dorian, Iron Bull, Cole, Sera, Cassandra and darkskinned girl in blue dress)
- Can't think of anything but Cole. He is soooo... I just can't get him out of my head.)
- 2 stright+2gay+2bi
- 3 For each gender
- We'll have them. But I'm not interested.

Patrick WeekesRe: "no pants" yesterday: "no pants" is writer slang for when a straight white guy writes someone not straight/white/guy and screws up.Patrick WeekesI would rather hear "Dude, you stepped on a very common land-mine people step on when writing this stuff," from 2 friends than 2000 players.

That's exactly what I mean. Some people may not want to romance a quanri. Or maybe Bioware even asked the question how many people would want to romance a qunari. Depends on what the writers thought and if the team decided there was enough interest to invest time and effort or not. So yeah, I don't know.

Well then I'm not really seeing your correlation here. Iron Bull would look like Iron Bull eve if there was a female qunari on the roster; either he's ok to have as a LI as is(which I think he is), or he isn't. Having a femqunari doesn't effect that.

When I'm trying to think who could be LIs I'm starting to see everyone as a possible LI. Or maybe not Cole. I'm not familiar with his background but he has a mind of a child? Sounds something that probably isn't a LI.
I recall a discussion early on about Cole as an LI and a number of posters, including DG if I am not mistaken, thought Cole as an LI would be a tad creepy given his youthfulness. I will see if I can find a link.

I don't think it's necessarily stereotypes. Some people like skinny men, some people don't. Right now we can only judge by the looks.

And I don't have a problem with that. I'm totally cool with someone saying "Solas doesn't look like what I want in a romance." The Warden and IB don't look like what I want in a romance. Different tastes are fine.
I get a little more annoyed when people are like "I just hope it's not another gay elf!" and complain about tropes that don't really exist.

Heterosexual: Cullen, Cassandra
Homosexual: Dorian, Scribbles
Bisexual: Solas, Sera
Not feeling great about female players potentially having both the NPC love interests, but I can't see them limiting the elves to only one gender.
Like many posters, I'm also hopeful that my gut instinct is wrong and Cassandra will be bisexual.
