For me, my favourite area/quest line has to be Orzammer/deep roads.  The sheer length of the quest and the huge dungeon crawl aspect both accumulate to make one epic quest. I remember my first journey through the deep roads being immense, not knowing what to expect as the enemies were actually a challenge and a large amount of bosses thrown in for good measure.  Just when i felt I had defeated the main boss, recovered my team and thought i could stop chugging the health potions up would pop yet another boss.  Easily one of the best quest lines I've ever played in an RPG and I've played the likes of BG, Morrowind, Planescape, daggerfall and so on.

Least favourite and i know this may be somewhat controversial, but i think that title has to go to the Brecilian Forest.  Interesting quest/s, but if any area in the game felt too linear and void of variety then this was it for me.  Whilst there's other areas that have less space to moneuver, the boundaries at least feel realistic or fit in with the environment in which you're traveling i.e. deep roads, Haven and so on.  Hell, even the Wilds felt less restrictive than what Brecilian does.  To me it just felt like i was being funneled through a cave without a ceiling.

My least favourite area of the game was Orzammar and the Deep Roads (sorry!). The dwarves annoy me with their infighting and inability to see beyond their petty squabbles. If I could say, "Sod them all" and leave without helping, I would. But Arl Eamon thinks we need them, so whatever.

My favourite main quest would probably be the Broken Circle. The first couple of times I ran it, I despised it almost as much as the Deep Roads, but it grew on me once I figured out each of the Fade areas. Now I appreciate the ability to get a glimpse of my characters' hopes, dreams and fears as I rescue them from their nightmares. It's the one time where you really get into their heads.

Favorite area for me is Cadash Thaig with Dead Trenches being a close second.

Least favorite? The fade.

I really hate the Fade. I just don't find it very interesting, since you're alone and it's vaguely annoying to find anything. I also had an issue with how blurry it was... it started to hurt my eyes after a while. LoL I did like the little nightmares of the characters - I agree with Freckles, it reveals a lot about them.

I think my favorite was the Brecilian Forest, because I kind of felt like I had really made a mark there at the end of the quest by ending the werewolf curse. With the dwarves, they just keep fighting. The Circle basically goes back to being the way it was. And Redcliffe was really too short for me to feel like I had done a whole lot, despite the obvious implications for the Landsmeet.

That being said, as a whole, I think the game is fantastic, despite some tedious parts. Every game has a few of those, I think.

My first playthrough, it would have had to be the Sacred Ashes quest line, the Guardian and his puzzles. The bridge puzzle itself was very good I thought and it was nice to give the guardian something to do. Orzammar is very well done though i have to say each time i dread it lol I just know its going to take a zillion years to get through it so I cringe slightly on the way there. Now, I just head to Tapsters first for a couple hours, getting sodding drunk, stay upwind of Oghren and go beat things to a bloody pulp.

The Broken Circle/Lost in the Fade is my least favorite part in the game all that running around back and forth; get this then get this, and then go slay that demon, but not before you get this +1 to one of you attributes in this secret area. ARGH! >_<

The deep roads are my favorite. Darkspawn everywhere and I'm leveling up every hour; it's great.

The Brecillian Forest is a close second. I just don't care for all the running around. It feels as if I'm running around in circles, never really getting to where I want to go.

No need to apologise for having an opinion.  Not everyone is gonna agree what areas/quest line are the best and weakest.

My least favorite area is the Fade. I plan to go there first just to get it over with. I do like the nightmare areas, but it just takes too long to get there. I really like Orzammar, but I have to admit that I found myself a bit claustrophic after three hours down there.

Favorite area is probably Redcliffe. I like the people, and I like Bann Teagan. I wish there was an epilogue where the female PC married him if she didn't marry Alistair. Unless there is and I don't know about it.

Least Favorite: the Deep Roads. I mean, the Dead Trenches were awesome, but everything before and after just long, tedious and boring.

Favorite: The Circle Tower and the Fade, closely followed by the Brecilian Forest.

Least favorite is the Fade and as others have said, its the first place I go as well just to get it over with.

Most favorite would to be the temple and caves areas of the ashes quest, followed closely by the deep roads.

I actually think I like the various cities/towns best - I like Orzammar, Denerim, and Redcliffe for the party interactions and what not.

I hate hate hate the Deep Roads, just for their length, and because the Broodmother seriously creeps me out. Even though I beat her last time on my first go, I dreaded the fight. I actually enjoy all the darkspawn fighting there - that feels to me like what the Wardens are supposed to be doing. But oh, how I hate the rest of the Roads, and how I always seem to miss something there so that I have to backtrack umpteen times to find it!

Least favorite: the Fade part of the Broken Circle quest. Like so many others, I go there first just to get it over with. I really prefer the team interaction, so that section tends to drag for me, since I must do it alone.

Most favorite: the Sacred Ashes quest, despite the puzzle (I suck at puzzles!). It was chock full of challenging combat goodness!

I wasn't such a fan of any of Orzammar, because it was just sooo long and it didn't feel connected to my character at all. Then again, it did put me in touch with my character's painful "I just want to get out of here!" feeling. That said, the Brood Mother segment was awesome enough to make things better, and now that I know my way through it better I think it'll be ok.

My favorite part was the Sacred Ashes, surprisingly. I thought I would hate all the religiousness of it, but it turned out to actually be very captivating and emotional, and the little puzzles were a welcome break.

Speaking strictly of areas:

Favorite: Haven. I love that creepy village to pieces. Also the Docks of Lake Calenhad: the music, the scenery, yet again the creepiness...  perfect.

Least favorite: The Fade, because of the graphics choice and overall design. Very close to it would come the Deep Roads. Mind you, I do like the quests in those areas, I just wished they looked differently, that's all. Though with the Deep Roads being you know, the deep roads, I suppose there was little choice.

Sloth demon's domain in the Fade is my least favorite, certainly. No group interaction, no combat, not-particularly-exciting puzzles, etc., all coupled with mandatory backtracking for hidden stat upgrades. The companion dreams are good, as are some of the spins on "what a templar's nightmare would be," but that's only a tiny part of the experience.

I agree on the Deep Roads (excluding the awesome Dead Trenches) as well. I think the biggest problem is that both the Orzammar politics quest and the Orzammar dungeons are quite long, but they're done sequentially instead of back and forth. I think it would stay fresher if, for instance, the Warden did a favor for Bhelen or Harrowmont, then did part of the Roads, then did the second favor, and so forth. That said, I just enjoy the Roads less than most of the game; I think they're still fun where the Sloth demon's Fade is just tedious.

The Sacred Ashes areas were probably my favorite. The Gauntlet was great, and even the simple Mountain Top had an aura of quiet menace, especially with the companions commenting on the dragon. The best part, though, was Haven. I think they nailed the atmosphere, and I love that you need to do a little digging before the villagers become a menace.

The Brecilian Forest was great, too. It had a free form "enchanted wood" feel that seemed right out of a fairy tale, especially on the first playthrough.

Finally, I think Soldier's Peak did a great job of using pacing and atmosphere to tell a self-contained story in a creepy little package.

Least favorite, but a massive margin, the fade. My favorite is the deep roads.

I can't stand the fade, now if it had been like it was in the book "The Calling" I would have loved it, but it was repetitive and dull. The rest of the game I like, theres nothing really bad I can think of about any other areas, but I just love the deep roads.

All the dungeons are too damn long, it's much better to digest them in small sections.

- Orzammar: Love=everything after broodmother. Hate=the 'spider section'.
- B. Forest: Love= the temple. Hate= the forest.
- The Circle: Love= The Fade (yes, I think its a good break from the monotone fighting :P.) Hate= the circular layout of the tower.
- Redcliffe: Love= preparing for the zombie attack. Hate= the actual zombie attack (on release this fight was crazy difficult even on Normal).
-Sacred Ashes: Love=how creepy Haven is, the final temple after the high dragon. Hate= the damn tunnels.

My favorite quest line is Paragon of Her Kind because I feel like it requires the most thought and tactical skill. There's a really epic feel to the Deep Roads that I don't feel as much elsewhere, and the lore and atmosphere is first rate.

That being said, if this game was Real Life, it would take me about a year to get that one army because I run back to camp between every one of the Dwarven sub-quests (and at least twice after the Dead Trenches). It wears me out to just run it on one go.

I like the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest while I'm playing, but I always forget about it as soon as I'm done. I feel like a goldfish when I replay..."was that creepy kid always standing there being creepy?" It just doesn't stick with me the way the other parts of the game do.

I'm not sure whether to love or hate Orzammar. I love the area, and the culture, but the dwarf tunnels make me feel claustrophobic lol.

But I like Denerim and all it's quests as well as Circle Tower... I would like to see more Tevinter ruins like Ostagar (though I'm sick of that place after starting 14+ unfinished playthroughs there.)

Least favourite is the Deep Roads. There's too much mindless darkspawn-bashing on the way to the Anvil. I don't like being trapped in the Fade either, when my PC is left alone without their friends, but I can speed through it quite quickly, and I enjoy Niall and the companions' nightmares.

I also dislike the linearity of the Brecilian Forests, especially all the awkward backward-and-forwarding between areas, however, it isn't hard to speed through. There's also a change in theme, from silvan werewolves to crypt-dwelling undead, and I find that makes things a bit more interesting than the Deep Roads.

Favourite is Ostagar. I think the area is gorgeous, and I love the sense of spatial depth - the bridges, turrets, cliffs, wall-walks. It was also a nice part of the game, because the dark-spawn had (in my first play through) not bounded quite so prominently into the plot, and the political stuff was in the foreground. Another plus was that Ostagar reminded me of the places in The Witcher - not my favourite game for character and story, but it certainly contained my favourite (3D) settings.

I loved the Urn quest. It really felt like hellping Kolgrim was evil and when I did I actually felt uncomfortable and regretted desecrating the ashes.

If I had to choose a least favourite I would choose Orzammar just becuase it is so long, the final battle against Branka/Caradin was so hard the first couple of times I did it and the fact that I couldn't care less what happens to the dwarves. But to be honest I still enjoy Orzammar becuase you get a couple of good items there. Really, I don't think there's any section that I don't like.

Favorite area is definitely the Gauntlet. The emotional reveal of your companions and especially of the PC, from being questioned by the Guardian to meeting shadows of your past and yourself, is always a highlight for me. Plus I find the mountaintop and the temple areas beautiful. Dragon and all.

Least favorite is probably the Deep Roads, because it's such a long grind of just battle after battle, especially if you consider Jarvia before that. I wish I could turn it on auto-pilot and just get through to the end. I also dislike the dwarven politics angle in Orzammar- having to make an a more or less arbitrary choice with so little information.  *Edit:  The good thing about the Deep Roads is that it does convey how oppressive they are.  While that is one of the things that makes me dread them, I guess that is realistic, heh.

With my Dalish elf, I thought this part was great.  It actually fell kind of flat for my female City elf though.  I would have gotten more impact had it been Nelaros instead of who it was.  It will be interesting to face this scene with my blood mage who doesn't really care about people though.
