I can understand children and Keepers being barefoot. the kids because it would be a waste of money (for City Elves) and of resources (for Dalish Elves) since the feet grow in little time, and the mages don't need to be as rapid or as armored as warriors or rogues, and they would simbolyze the "contact with nature", or at least with some elven divinity.

outside of those groups, It feels idiotic to have everyone barefoot.

expecialy Dalish, who travel from a place to another, and having to put their feet on every kind of terrain. even worse a forest. I think forests are even more dangerous (for the feet) than other kind of terrain. expecially if it's a forest of marrons.

I agree, mages and kids going barefoot seems the most logical. Warriors and everybody else? No please

I liked that the elves didn't have shoes in DA2 and I really want my Elf inquisitor to be barefoot with pretty stockings and slinky robes to wear  (plus wouldn't mind painted toe nails) Oh and what about feet tattoos that match the tattoo on your face??? Oh a bit off topic but in TWOT book the picture of the female qunari, she was barefoot.

Unless you're Toph Beifong or a hobbit, you have no excuse going barefoot, connection to nature or not.

Glad my case works then, since I plan on making an Elf Rogue based on Toph.  B)

True. Dalish Mage then.

That will literally be the only way I'll be able to enjoy being a Dalish is if I can RP what Toph would be like if raised Dalish. :P

Agree for the most part, Any mage whose in the circle or keepers who don't leave the camp could go barefoot, because I would expect someone to be in charge of keeping the camp cleaned up., I do it at home every day, first thing that comes off when I get home from work. :)   But even mages need something to protect them from spiky things in the woods, this looks very very painful.  Yes, I want shoes for my mage.  I also had a vision of doing a spell in battle and having someone step on my toes and then stabbing me.  Distracting, maybe steel toed slippers.

Gosh, Fenris's bare feet pissed me off so much. Especially when he's all spiky-warrior otherwise.

I know it may be a pretty minor thing to some, but what bugged me in DA2 was that elves had a chronic lack of shoes.... If someone knows why this is, as in, supported by the lore, then please let me know. But are we going to give elves their shoes back? (please?) Now, maybe it would make sense for the Dalish to be barefoot to be "in tune with nature", and maybe the City Elves are just too poor to afford such basic attire. But whatever the decision, it should be somehow noted in the games, so that we are not just left staring at those bare, little feet going "WTF?". I couldn't care less what the Dalish want to do with their bodies and lives, but please, at least don't make the City elves look so ridiculous (again) xD  I personally don't see a connection between bare feet and being in harmony with nature, or the world, or whatever. Poverty? That actually would make much, much more sense. Pleaaase, Bioware, give us our shoes back! :D

Love y'all

yeah - I agree, even more in cities with their dirty streets (middle ages setting - ******-pots are emptied out the window for example...unless thedosians don't do that?) it makes even less sense to walk those streets without any shoes :(

greetings LAX

ps: that some of the poor might not have them, ok, that is plausible but widespread? - no, even more if people are working for say nobles etc. (those very same nobles would make sure that their servants are properly dressed, even more in Orlais, were not doing so will damage your reputation (people might start suggesting that the noble not clothing his/her servants is POOR him or herself and thus VULNERABLE!))
