Looking at the cover a second time I think I can put my finger on why I don't like it.
I find it impersonal, all I see when I look at the Inquisitor is the back of a suit of armour. There is no character or icon there to connect to. When I play RPG's I'm controlling a character, I don't become him. Well the Cinematic one's at least
I would have liked if they had the inquisitor facing us so we can see their face, help define their character a little bit, but that would have ruined the neutral gender thing so IDK. Duel covers to the Rescue?
Plus as others have said the Red & White colour scheme is gone which is kinda sad.
That said I do like how the cover tells a story to us about the game. Like it is an actual scene rather than some Pose where the PC is trying to look tough like the ME3 box art
The cover looks great and I love the gender neutral character that lets you see what you want.
She looks female to me ![]()
Didn't notice the dragon shape at first. Saw a bunch of demons up there and thought the iconic look was missing. Looked at the cover art from a distance... whoa! BioWare did an amazing job!
I also really like that the Inquisitor's gender is unspecified. The person could be a man, but it could definitely be a woman as well.

I don't see how seeing a face on the cover helps with this. We're all going to just throw that face out anyway and design our own, right?

Yeah, Garret Hawke certainly didn't "connect" to me.
(who's Garret Hawke? don't know this guy...
)
I like the fact that it wasn't used a default face or gender. I miss a little the "splattered red dragon", but is still cool.
great cover.

The cover is reminiscent of some of the box art we used to have in the 90's. Great stuff...
Including the title for DA:I. It used to strongly resemble the title for Dragon Age II, but now it is closer to the style used in DA:O.
They really don't want anybody to think "Dragon Age II", when they see the cover. Good idea too.
(this is the old title from 2012)
Amazing art. It's my new wallpaper!
Same here. ![]()

OK, that's pretty awesome. Both versions. I like that they're going with an ambiguous protagonist, too. Nice choice for an RPG like this, assuming they stick with it across their different promotions.
I dont care about the gender of the inquisitor in the cover art. Both are OK for me.
I dont mind the absence of the blood dragon with white background because it didnt exist in the covers of DAO collection edition (part of a sword) and DA2 signature edition (grey dragon with black background). Maybe there will be an alternative cover.
I note that now the "Inquisition" is highlighted while the "Dragon Age" was bigger in previous games. Maybe it implies more or less the "new IP".

I've got my fingers crossed that they either continue with an ambiguous protagonist OR split their time equally between advertising a male vs a female.

Well, Skyrim was alot bigger than Elder Scrolls on its cover. The "Dragon Age" is there to remind you its a game series but "Inquisition", thats the real game title.

I know that. But the "Dragon Age" is bigger than the "Origins" in the cover of DAO. And now the style has been changed. I mean the change may reflect something.
The inquisitor seem to have long hair too .. But it's just the armor contrast ... BIOWARE. STO PLAYING TRICK WITH MEH. It has more the shape of a man though ( The body type seem to be more V-Shaped )

No.

I'm happy to see the neutral character, but I REALLY dislike the change in colors and style.
It's like this game does not even belong to the same world. Can you imagine all 3 game disks wrapped into one box? Or simply standing on the one shelf side by side? Red+black+white, red+balck+white and...grey-green-orange?
That 'inversed' recolor is perfect, imo. I wish they used that one instead. I'm very likely to buy a digital copy anyway, but I like it much better.

You're in luck, according to Aaryn Flyn "...wherever we can, we'll try to keep it that way." (from twitter last night)
I like it. Quite a lot actually. I like having the back view. I can see my warrior woman or guy looking like that from the back. Which is probably why I like mages.
My personal choice would have been to show images of some party members and leave the main character off completely, but I have no problem with this. I think it looks good. Nice job artist group of people. ![]()

I really like it. A series first for me. Who was the artist?
