In 2009, the term "Dragon Age" was brand new, unknown, untested, and worthy of its own marketing strategy. There was no "ensure new fans know they can jump in" approach to the size of the series title because everyone was new at that phase. That game was very much your introduction to DRAGON AGE, which happened to harbor the subtitle "Origins", an unusual trait among new IPs. Most just feature the series name: Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, Halo, Fallout, inFamous.
Fair enough!

It's ok, my mind wasn't blown, and honestly I like the minimalist red dragon version much more.
It does remind me of a Steven Erikson Malazan bookcover, and that's pretty sweet.

A team effort, apparently.
Ah, well it was a job well done regardless.

I like it. Reminds me of this picture of Fingolfin vs Morgoth
Though I feel like it makes the Inquisitor look very alone, when I'd rather emphasise them as a leader. But I shouldn't over-analyse.

Ah, I was just thinking how it reminds me of something. Now I finally get it, thank you ![]()
Can't help but to post a relevant song as well! ![]()

Man, a video game in the Malazan universe would be sweeeeet, playing as a Tiste Andii.

There's no ambiguity. It's rather clear to me.

The only thing I don't like is the huge EA logo in the corner. It is too large and doesn't really seem to fit in well.

Definitely looks like the femquisitor to me hopefully they'll do a male version too. I would have preferred the inquisitor to not appear at all as I intend to play as a Qunari male which that image definitely is not.
Why would they do a "Male version" when the gender was left ambiguous

I love how the inquisitor on the cover could be of any gender (although not every race
). Sad they had to go with white human dudebro in the trailer. Although Dat Voice.. but they could have had another race at least.

As I said I my post the inquisitor in that image looks female to me, not in least ambiguous .

Inquisitor looks female for me too, but for others she/he looks male, so ambiguous ![]()

Very cool cover. Reminds me abit of the old Ultima games, to be honest.

Add that blood dragon artwork as an alternative boxart on the other side!

Looks like the Inquisitor's power/dragon fighting against the demons. Maybe the dragon isn't evil.

I just had a closer look at the box art. My first reaction: "Wow, this is great box art". Second reaction: "Wait.....is that a woman?". Even closer look. "Hmm...not clear, but you can easily see a woman there. It could also be a man with less bulk than the usual type. That's a bonus."
So, definitely ambiguous. Nice. *Really* nice, especially since there's no downside to the effect. The composition of the picture is also very good, with different aspects flowing into each other and showing different things dependent on how you look at it.

You're right though. It is ambiguous.
