From my experience, I have observed that when I shoot guardians through their shields with incendiary/disruptor/cryo ammo, the ammo effect of setting them on fire/stunning/freezing them doesn't work (if they do, I have never observed it).

That made me wonder about a couple more things:

1. Do the ammo damage bonuses work vs. guardians (60% for warp IV, 50% for incendiary IV, 50% for AP IV etc) when you shoot them through their shields?

2. Does the warp ammo damage boost work on guardians primes with reave or DC if you shoot them through their shields?

Just curious.

I believe their shields Nullify the effects of Ammo Powers besides piercing effects. Not sure about Warp Ammo though, most of what Warp ammo works against does not apply to Guardians. But since their shields only nullify effects that should prime them such as Disruptor, Cryo, Incendiary, and Explosive, any other effects shouldn't apply to being nullified.

Only thing I know is that Warp Ammo will damage them through their shield even if you don't have piercing.

Maybe if you get some rounds through the mail slot it could effect them with the ammo bonus, but I'm not sure.Their heads usually come off before priming can happen.

Has anyone bothered to notice if ammos prime when penetrating through anything? I'd say this warrants a test first. It might be a property of penetration rather than the shield being special. I've never bothered to pay enough attention to see if it does or doesn't. I'm just trying to pew pew the elians.

If I recall right, the DoT of Incendiary Rounds wont be applied through the shield.

However, direct damage ammo powers will actually hit twice.

I've noticed something similar with targets not being primed for Tech bursts when shot through cover/walls with disruptor ammo, and was planning on asking the question here at some point.

Just shooting the shield of a guardian applies ammo damage, if it's not IA. Shooting it with penetration, hitting the shield and then him will apply the ammo damage twice. So yes, it is possible to kill a guardian without ever hitting him. Not sure about the second question...

IIRC only direct damage gets applied through pierced cover/walls (twice, actually, in the case of Guardians), while the DoT, stun and freeze/slow effects and ammo priming do not.
