Platinum is even more amendable to camping than Gold. Not surprised people are doing this.
That said, I prefer a different camping strategy on Glacier platinum. The one where you camp four positions and rocket all the spawns.

Upper deck spawn point with the long wall. It's the ONE place you don't want to get trapped while playing Glacier Hazard (especially when a Crabby is coming). The reason you probably didn't figure it out was because you were too busy trying to avoid getting stuck there or shooting at it.
I figured this spot out a looooooooooong time ago while doing a solo. I got backed into the corner and realized it was a great chokepoint. Not so great on solo where you'll eventually get overwhelmed but great for a team cranking out deeps. It's also great for completing monotonous challenges like Hex shield, melee, etc by starting a solo game. I'm surprised it took people so long to figure it out.
I was just griping about this in another thread the other day. If you've never seen it, that should give you the gist. I've been running into it a lot on gold over the last two weeks. It drives me bonkers; takes the easiest map and makes it much harder.

After knowing this maybe it is time to get a four-Phoenix camping team out again... or maybe substitute a Phoenix with a Geth Juggernaut...

I joined a lobby a few weeks ago, not realizing this was what the host had in mind by presetting it to Glacier and bringing a Jug. Once the game started, he got on his mic and said "Follow me, this is what we have to do to win on this map." Games that start with the host saying that are the games that usually do not win.
So I followed the herd to the dark room. He instructed us to camp there, his Jug at the front of the room, the rest of us in the back. When Wave 1 started, HE BACKED UP TO THE REST OF US and PUT HIS SHIELD IN FRONT OF US. It was literally 3 feet from the back wall, with us in between, including the Jug! Needless to say, everyone went down almost immediately. I managed to escape, then realized it didn't matter, because I was quitting.

Yeah even if they just moved that camping spot to just a little outside the room (like the spot everyone waits to go roflstomping into the basement from), it would be a massive improvement. It really is the worst camping spot I've ever seen.

A few months ago I actually did a successful 3 man plat camp here, well it was the front of the room actually, not the rear. It was with 2 friends though, certainly not pugs. One was the Jug, one was a Volus Engie, I was a KroSent with Reegar Incendiary cheese. It went very smooothly, and even quickly, but everyone knew what they were doing.
Then we were like so that's that and went back to running around like headless retards.
People camp the DARK ROOM of all the places in Glacier?
Basement is MUCH more suitable for that, if you're willing to be bored to death.

I've never seen it before, whether on Gold or Plat. Makes sense, though. The Hex Shield will prime everything for a tech burst. Add a Demolisher, Volus Engineer and Human Engineer and it will be an easy Plat extraction.
