You'd think but in reality it becomes a painfully slow slog. So far I've yet to see that camping set up take less than 30 minutes, no matter the team composition.
Stop camping that corner chokepoint on Glacier

@Shadohz
Thanks.
After knowing this maybe it is time to get a four-Phoenix camping team out again... or maybe substitute a Phoenix with a Geth Juggernaut...
Oh no, don't thank me. I don't need the additional hatemail for encouraging anyone into doing it. My comment was 'for educational purposes only'. Just keep it to Plat. If you bump into 880, then tell him I said 'hi'. ![]()

I was just griping about this in another thread the other day. If you've never seen it, that should give you the gist. I've been running into it a lot on gold over the last two weeks. It drives me bonkers; takes the easiest map and makes it much harder.
On Gold? Not Platinum... but Gold?
When I get my Xbox back from the repair shop I'll send you an invite and we'll hunt them down to troll their games.

I almost never play platinum (I'm just not solid enough to pug it and I mostly pug; also I find plat to be both boring and too hard all at once). I've seen it at least three times in the last week or so, all on gold.
I may not be able to play when you send that invite. The neighbor I was sharing interwebs with moved. I have a connection through another neighbor but it is not reliable for gaming (just tried, terribad) even though my download speeds are peachy. Getting frontier on Thursday but a lot of us west coasters have problems with them because they route all of their crap through D.C. It's bloody stupid. But Comcast are ripoff artists so what can you do. Fingers crossed for me.

Camping in the Dark Room is kind of old.
When Platinum was first invented campers used to set up in there with a Justicar bubble, novaspamguard and volus spamming shield boost all match. I might have tried it once or twice, beaucoup de BEs, nothing gets in the room. Gotta be more fun than a puggernaut.
I've never ran into one of these matches whilst pugging on PS3 ( just a hell of a lot of lolsilver players trying to play Gold).

Isn't the solution to stop playing with platinum PUGs? Find some buddies and then you have influence over what maps and tactics are going to be used in that match.

Sure, you could do that. I hate Glacier with the fiery passion of a billion suns. Hazard Glacier moreso. If you see me there, I temporarily lost what's left of my sanity.

If there was a Volus, then it wasn't when platinum was released...

Heh - that gets my vote ... dropped into a gold GiP yesterday, Reapers/Glacier - the host was just using it as a personal excuse to get rid of some excess missiles or something; still clocked something like 17 minutes on my screen at the end ... and I joined on wave 3 so it was probably around the 20 minutes mark in total.
Get back to the lobby, see it's set to Reapers/Glacier and leave immediately (I only hang around in U/U/G games).
Start another quick match (can't remember what it was) and the host craps out and I get dropped out during migration... so I put some equipment back on and hit Quick Match only to get dropped into Reapers/Glacier wave 4 ... same host as the first game, doing the same thing. Nearly bailed out immediately but figured I'd just not use any consumables instead rather than waste the equipment I'd put on - not like there was any need with the rocket-happy hoster.
Later I found a U/U/G host ... he was a bit laggy for me and a bit of a newb ... but I was prepared to put up with that just for U/U/G and stuck around until he left a few games later.

I still can't wrap my brain around why they would do it on Gold (hence the humor) and why it takes longer than a standard run on that map. After they released the cakebatter kits (AUI, Juggie, TGI, Voluses, Cabal) there's really no need to camp Gold. In all the games I've ever played I've only seen one group attempt this on a Plat match (this was a long time ago). They failed miserably. I got on the mic, told them which kits they should use and left. I was laughing until I got an Xbox message from one of them saying 'Thx'.
It'll be at least a week before I get my Xbox back. Though you might see me online with my second one, I can't use it for MP until I fix my disc drive.

Technically there is an easy as balls setup for it. Aggro sponge Juggernaut, a demolisher with low CD spamming a pylon, and two Talon Merc with Cain Mines.
The problem with all "camping" strategies is when the team has to do objectives and can't.
