Imagine this with a host that has clearly modded his files. I jumped into a Silver (!) Pug of all Pugs, looked for my teammates, but only saw Brutes
. They were hiding out in the "Dark Room," a Volus and two Juggs. Now I really don't have anything against modded games, but do it with friends, don't open it to the public. If I wanted to be a real douche and if Bioware still cared, I could report the host. But I'm not that kind of guy; I can see the fun in such a game. I was a Paladin, so I just started spamming Snap Freeze. The Juggs were just meleeing and the Volus was spamming Shield Boost. Because it was all Brutes - 25 of them, roughly estimated - the waves were really dull. All the objectives were "Targets" somehow, and we got to wave 10 - where the Brutes finally overwhelmed the Juggs.

This is actually the first time I'm hearing about this. People actually f*cking camp there? I've never seen that before and i've come across plat lobbies preset to Glacier.... ![]()

@Commander_Chino
I still got you in my friends list, or did I only meet you in a Pug once? If you want to try this dull strategy, sign me up
Seriously, though, it does happen quite a bit on PC, too.

Was the volus host named algae? That's odd that it was only brutes. We were doing gold and the 100+ abomination/husk/guardian games were intense. No camping there ![]()

That's what you get for pugging lolplatinum
And seriously, why do people care about how others play?

Because if it's not my way it's the wrong way.

I only really care in the same way that I cared about FBWGG back in the day. When it becomes a big enough trend, it gets to be all you can find and that ruins my fun. It takes one of the (if not the) easiest maps in the game for quick and fun games and doubles the time it takes to complete it while making it much harder. If I pugged my way into a plat game with this set up, I'd just leave (I'm not strong enough to clutch plat). On gold I'll stick it out if I land GIP; I'm solid enough there to clutch if needed and I can make the cmapers' lives easier (even as they rant at me on mic for not getting in the camping spot) by kiting away a few bosses while I deplete the wave budget and bringing stuff over to them in small groups.

It's gotten really bad. Puggernaut sits at the front with hex shield and melee amps, while the other 3 scrubs put their back against the wall and throw powers at everything. If a banshee gets through, they missile. I do have to say, it has to be the quickest and most efficient way to farm credits in the game. I wonder what took them so long to figure out!
Nah. Speed runs are faster. But even if you're trying to conserve rockets, the dark room camping strategy is not very efficient on Glacier. Instead, I like one teammate in the dark room, one in the hall next to LZ, one in the LZ right behind that one, and the fourth floating around upstairs ready to go down center or basement stairs. Rush the basement, clear the spawn with powers (combos) and guns, move to the next spawn (probably upper LZ area), clear it, then mop up the remaining enemies. It's a variation on the speed run strategy, except you only nuke on 5, 7, 8, and 9, and you only do so once (or if there's a nice grouping, maybe twice). Everyone has tons of rockets for objectives if necessary.
But really, I average 9-10 minutes doing the Jade speed run; it's fun, but gets tedious. Being ready to take apart a map is more fun (e.g. go U/U/P, then if White, one in the top spawn, one rushing bottom with teammate backing (combos), then rotate around; if Glacier, as above; if Reactor, start at the back and go clockwise; &c.). I do this all the time with one teammate and two randoms (works best if randoms are limited to two); observe random's positions and rush spawns accordingly, and if there's too much to handle, kite back to bullet-sponges/randoms. I hope we have a chance to play with you at some point; my usual second takes as much delight in trolling glitchers as you do.

I'm surprised people think this is fast or efficient; it is neither. In the three times I've seen it last week, none of the gold games took less than 30 minutes from my dropping in the GIP (and I landed on wave 2 and 3, so I figure it was likely closer to 40 minutes).

Agreed; though I'm used to an average of 18 minutes on Glacier Plat because of the above, I've played with people trying out Platinum for the first time or still getting their Platinum legs (that's a thing, right?) that want to do the camping strat. It usually goes: Jugg with Lancer or PPR, Justicar with CSMG, and a couple of shockwavers/warpers for massive, fast biotic detonations. It takes longer than my preferred method, but it can be done in around 25-28 minutes (depending on objectives, and Shepard help n00bs doing devices on Glacier, or the hack in the corridor between the basement and the LZ). Objectives with n00bs is where it gets messy. I prefer U/U/P and the more mobile strategy anyway.

I foresee all volus - keep the shop open/hold the line video link incoming..
I have held the line long enough. Time for others to take over. The video series I did was most enjoyable though.

Could have been the host, yeah. I should have taken a screenshot. Maybe the host switched to Gold afterwards? Silver means all Brutes, Gold means Husk mode. Was the volus host named algae? Would be funny, if we actually ran into the same host
An All-Brutes mode can actually be a nightmare on Glacier. I didn't know what I saw when I spawned in. I think those guys were friends and forgot to make a private lobby. You could say I was lucky that I could join in on the party, haha.

Never tried silver yet, But I know for sure that gold collectors is basically all boss enemies (wave 1 phantoms.....scary stuff).
Yeah, I have you. I also have a coalesced file with the exact same mod, so I can host these games whenever I feel up to it ![]()

I was just griping about this in another thread the other day. If you've never seen it, that should give you the gist. I've been running into it a lot on gold over the last two weeks. It drives me bonkers; takes the easiest map and makes it much harder.
I've seen this on gold too.
I didn't even realise it was a camping setup since juggs and GT's are so common anyway, so I just selected my VorSent (since no-one was going to be aiming anyway!), put on some consumables and readied up.
When they all rushed to the dark room, I thought they were just getting ready to nuke the **** out of the basement spawn like I usually do, so when the wave started I rushed down and got to murderin' as normal. I didn't even notice I was alone until the basement was empty!
I ended up sort of semi-soloing the first few rounds, but by wave 8 I had to join them camping, I just didn't have enough med-gel and OP's packs to survive 8v1 odds for so long. ![]()
I still ended up with an absurd score though! ![]()

Okay then maybe you can answer the question. Why Gold? Were these guys a bunch of bronze level noobies looking to cash in? Were they trying camp Gold without having to use consumables? Were they only using Lvl 1/2 consumables? How long did your match take?
