Not to dump on your choices but Miranda is much more like Mara Jade than Jack is. And once you know where Jacen ends up, the Kaidan comparison seems strange...

I know, but I thought Leia made more sense than Jade in that position, and I wanted to have Jade in there somewhere. And yes, Caedus, but Ashley/Kaidan being Jacen/Jaina makes some poetic sense to me. 

Now if only there was a place that was fitting for Exar Kun.

In response to the OP, I'd say replacing Liara with Shiala (or somehow condensing those two characters into one) would be an obvious choice. As far as replacing squadmates with characters from outside ME, I'd probably go with a Wire theme; replace Garrus with Lester Freamon, Anderson with Bunny Colvin, Jacob Taylor with Bunk Moreland, and maybe even Udina with Tommy Carcetti.
