I dunno about that. I've seen more people hate the idea of Cole in the party for a lot of different reasons, than I have seen people who support him being in-game. I think he'd be fascinating and we could learn more about the nature of spirits from him, and maybe teach him to be more human. But some people just absolutely hate him, are convinced he's a demon, want to kill him without even seeing what state he's actually in in DA:I, etc.
In fact there was so much negativity and thread derailment (intentional thread derailment) in the Cole discussion thread that I had started a while back that I had to request it be shut down. I'm still pretty bitter about that because I really enjoyed discussing the character. Mostly it was one or two people doing the derailing and Cole-hating, but there is a whole lot of strong anti-Cole sentiment on these forums. I gotta say I don't get why all the hate for a fictional character of ambiguous nature who hasn't even been in a game yet... and may never be.
That said, I repeat I am not sure Cole will even be in game, or Dramatic Hands for that matter, even though Dramatic Hands has a very good following of fans without even seeing any in-game screens/videos of him. It won't surprise me if I can recruit Cole, but it also won't surprise me if there's some other rogue present in his stead.
I like Cole as a character. I just don't want him in my party. I'm not gonna throw fits about it though. I would just prefer that slot went to an entirely new character. I do want to see Cole in Inquisition though.

Same with this.

Kinda tired of the possessed Spirit character, tbh. Wynne/Faith, Crispin/Justice, and Anders/Justice. While the non-mage thing is kinda interesting... I would actually prefer Evangeline over Cole if they wanted a non-mage possession, but Evangeline is likely to NOT be in the game (or definitely won't be a companion if she is) considering we have a confirmed Cullen NPC/companion/whatever. He has the Templar thing covered, I think. ((especially when most of Evangeline's lines in Asunder are nearly verbatim to a Cullen that deals with a Templar siding Hawke))

You say you want an entirely new character, but for anyone who didn't read the books, Cole is an entirely new character. And I think he'd behave quite differently post-Asunder.
But that said, I repeat I'm neither expecting him nor expecting his absence. The final rogue could be just about anyone. As long as the character is interesting, I don't mind. I'd love for it to be Cole, but it could be someone else just as interesting, or maybe even more interesting.
Edited to add: I don't believe Cole is actually possessing anyone, which means he's a shade, which means he's something we haven't had before--a spirit independent from a host of any kind.

Id like a true dwarf to be introduced that carries the culture with him/her or a female Sten type qunari who was part of the Ariqun offering a different perspective than the militarized idea most people have of the Qun.

But since he... kinda sheds that skin at the end of Asunder... he wouldn't have a point to pretend to be a rogue anymore. Althoughhhh... I dunno... I do see Cole being in Inquisition... I just think he has a bigger potential outside of the Inquisitor's shadow... so to speak.
I don't think Cole's concept is anything like Anders or Wynne as possessed people. You didn't actually learn much at all from them about spirits. It was still almost entirely Anders and Wynne that we learned about, as humans. Cole is interesting to me because we've had hardly any interaction with actual spirits, just the short time with Justice in Awakening and then his arc got cut off with the merge with Anders in DA2. In that way, I think he'd be one of the most unique companions to date.

I think if he isn't a companion we won't be able to explore his story as much, which is why I hope that he is one. If he's a companion, we'll get all kinds of dialogue etc. to explore his character. If he is not, then we will only maybe get a side quest, or one main quest, to deal with him and that's that. So, if he doesn't show up as a companion I'd rather he didn't show up at all, personally, and then he could maybe be in the next game or so.
What makes people think Cole would be a companion? I would be surprized if he was. It would be a bit complicated to explain his character if you didnt read the book wouldnt it?
Cole was kind of set up with a cliffhanger, so we'd want to know what was going to happen to him. He was also set up as an inexperienced rogue-type. That may or may not have changed at the end of Asunder; his personality is likely to be much different regardless. In any case, the devs didn't have much trouble making a companion of Loghain, and he had a tremendous backstory as well. So I think it's certainly doable, but the question is whether Cole's story fit in with what the developers, specifically the writers, wanted to do with the story of DA:I.

Not entirely true, the Cole in the book slowly becomes a different person by the end of it because of the reveal at the end to him. It's a massive shock to him, and now he is a being who has those memories of the 'Cole' he's mimicking while lacking his personal memories (it seems like he still doesn't understand how he came to be other then taking the place of the Cole boy.)
Think of it like how they had background infomation on Loghain in the books, but clearly was not needed at all to know him as the person before the characters today. It's just flavor, and would probably be shown in the game if Cole carries the role.
I just want dat izzy back.
Isabela is the least likely to return. Considering: You can skip her. She can leave and not come back. She can come back but you give her to the qunari. She can come back and you can not let her stay. Too many opportunities to lose Isabela forever.

T-There was a Cole thread? Nooo I would have loved that guh.
Cole does seem like the type of character where people either like or hate, he has that sad lonely personality that a lot of people don't like to tolerate while it sings for some people who have a better understanding of him and that lonely persona tend to like him. Then again, many characters of the DA series are made that way, it's a sign of a good character in my opinion when people have conflicting feels about them. What a shame a thread had to be closed about him, he's a wonderful lore theory to poke at and he has a lot of personality that tends to be lost on people.

Not tryna hear that noise.
Give me the izzy, or I'll get YOUR izzy!

Just saying... too many variables to make her compliant with everyone's game. Like the Twins. I doubt we will see Bethany or Carver in any capacity due to all the different paths they would have to write.

People are speculating Cole as the last companion because he's listed in the leaked survey (from about two years ago) as a companion. There were four character descriptions and two of them (Sera and Iron Bull) are in and two of them (Dorian and Cole) aren't confirmed. One of the devs made a comment about some of the characters not even being in the game though, so there's doubt as to the validity of the information.
Sooo.... im thinking it be Cole.... I mean, he was in survey and now they have all these concepts with other companions and it seems like this rogue is being intentionally avoided and Cole is the only one we haven't seen since the survey... it all points to a super secret conspiracy to keep Cole and/or the 3rd rogue a secret. Plus didn't someone at some point mention there will be someone from asunder as a companion? or maybe it was in the game or something.
Anyway I hope it is him. Hes gotta be one of my favorite characters of all time and one of the more personally relatable ones...
They confirmed at least one Asunder character would be in game, but they didn't say if it would be a companion or not.
Well... I do see the Inquisitor sticking their nose into the mage rebellion. Adrian or Rhys would make good cameos I think.

Yikes. I'm not going to ask how or why Cole is personally relatable for you. He's pretty tragic, so that makes me kind of sad.
its not about tragedy, its fear. Cole is one of the only characters to really show that much detail in his fear and that's something that I can really connect to.
