So I came across this article:

http://www.kdramasta...elease-date.htm

...and it got me thinking. What do you guys think if BioWare only released the next game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC? As well, if previous saves would be relevant, I think it would be interesting to see how BioWare would transfer saves over to the next generation. (Comic Book style again or somehow transferring over the cloud?)

Also do you guys think it is plausible for BioWare to be announcing (or at least teasing) the next Mass Effect game at E3 2014 and then having a late 2015 release?

Dropping the PS360 would be great as the game wouldn't be held back by ancient consoles.

If they need to they would probably use something like the Dragon Age Keep for importing choices.

They might show something but they would probably want to keep the focus on Dragon Age 3 for its fall release.

Cloud/'Keep'

Too bad they already used the Citadel term for a story DLC.

In 2015 it'll be 7 years since ME1 and 3 years since ME3. I don't think they'll be too invested in necessitating sales of the original trilogy, and they'll do what Dragon Age did (Cloud saves + Manual story state control). Though of course, a rerelease of the trilogy for newer consoles is pretty likely.

I think any time in 2015 is possible, even Spring. The broadest range I regard for release is Spring 2015-Fall 2016, but I would really narrow that more down to Fall 2015-Spring 2016 if I had to.

Showing a teaser trailer at the EA conference or E3 2014 is something I'm outright counting on, but if that doesn't happen, they can still show it later on (after DA:I comes out) and reserve the ME4 attention for E3 2015... for all we know.

But anyway, yayyy :D, the next game is only 1-2.5 years from now! Wooo! (I'm near absolutely sure it won't take til 2017 lol)

KoTOR 2 just had two people talking about what happened in the original and the player could correct or affirm what happened.

They could call it Earth instead, the Citadel now orbits Earth anyway. It's the new capitol of the Galactic citadel council.

They're gonna re-release Mass Effect Redux Trilogy on next gen consoles, probably in the next year or so.

Then Mass Effect 4 will be a sequel to ME3 and will star Shepard.

Watch, it will happen, EA luvs to recycle, recycle, recycle old content and charge for it, and gamers eat it up. **Cough, Cough** Battlefield series, **cough, cough**.

Another direct case in point is Citadel DLC, widely regarded as the best DLC and most lucrative DLC for Mass Effect to date. Citadel was almost in it' entirety, cut content from Mass Effect 2.

Yeah.

BioWare is going to re-release the Trilogy on Next gen consoles. Mass Effect 4 will be PS4, XB1, and PC. But will use saves from PC, and will use the 'newest' version of saves from PS4 and XB1 users. There will also be a "Genesis" option for players that did not buy and import the re-release of ME1,2,3 on XB1/PS4, and obviously the same goes for PC player base. The "Genesis" option will incorporate the interactive comics for ME2 and ME3 new players-, but it also incorporate a New interactive comic about the decisions AND ENDING "CHOICE" from ME3.

Mass Effect 4 will begin in London, Circa 2186, in the night, by the "beam", under some rubble.

The above just reeks of EA business policy. That's why it's a strong possibility.

I have heard that a lot of it was stuff they thought about for ME2, but cut early in development. But most of TurianRebel212's post seems to be a weird blend of cynicism and wishful thinking.

I believe the cynicism aspect though.

Not so much ME2 as ME3.  Some of CItadel's scenes were definitely from that old leaked script (such as Joker trying to score free drinks with the story of how he fought Cerberus in a hijacked Atlas during the coup) though I'd hesitate to say the dlc was made up "almost entirely" of cut content

As for me, transferring old save files to the new game will be a huge disincentive for me to buy the next game.  I have no wish to visit a post-Crucible galaxy.  Not with RGB as the chocies, at least.

Turian likes to exaggerate. lol

Citadel DLC, at least its basic concept of visiting friends and having a place to relax as a social DLC, appears to have been a plan for ME2.

More than half of it could still be new. But yeah, a 'Citadel Social DLC' in itself, is not.

I currently holding out on getting an XB1 until the next Halo is released and you can get a flashy looking console. However, if EA announced that the original ME trilogy was getting a next-gen rerelease, I would totally make the jump for that, as long as it was worth it of course.

Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I highly doubt there will be a Genesis or any import stuff at all. BW said clearly that Shepard's story is over. Maybe they are lying, but they said that even as they had already begun work on ME:Next. They have a new team with new ideas. I doubt very much that they would want to be limited by the old stuff in any way. Time for a fresh start.

Our saves won't be relevant, because nothing of Shepard is going to be important. Also, our saves wouldn't be compatible with PS4/Xbone anyways. I'd rather have these new Mass Effect games be on next-gen. Putting the Trilogy on PS4 = Having to buy DLCS ALL OVER AGAIN! I'm sure they won't put DLCs on disks anyways.

I'm with you. Bio's handling of the choices they already had didn't satisfy a lot of people. I think we've passed the point of diminishing returns with continuing the save imports.

On a serious note though, trying to shoehorn saves in the next game, whether through keep or trilogy on next gen, should be avoided at all costs. I cannot see what purpose it would serve when you're roleplaying a new protagonist.

Just keep the events of the trilogy restricted to codex entries with lots of details being lost or glossed over. The less the baggage the better.

I don't know, based on the teaser concept art they released last week it seems they are going for a typical canon save import:
