That's the description of Cole. He's looks like a human male with shaggy blond hair. It's possible it isn't Cole, but it's really, really unlikely, I would say. He fits the description of Cole and Cole was a concept rogue. It makes the most sense that he's Cole.

It better be Cole. He needs more love.

Why is dwarfs, elves, quanari, drell, krogan, quarians, turians, salarians etc soo much interesting than humans? I always prefer the "non-human" companions in so many ways, but regardless there is always a vast majority of human companions in DA, as well as in ME.

Might just me me, though :)

Nah, I'm with you on that, for the most part.

A 6:3 male/female ratio? Really? They're literally giving us twice as many male companions as female ones?

I just...can't even express how disappointed I am, if this is indeed the case. It's just once again another reminder of how women don't matter in the video game world, how they're only going to give us the bare minimum of women (one of each class) while focusing the brunt of the storytelling power on the Important Menfolk instead. Such a huge step backward. I really expected better from BioWare.

Yes, I know that a character doesn't necessarily have to be a companion to be important, but at the end of the day...NPCs are still NPCs. People focus most of their attention on the party members for a reason--they're the ones who are with you at every turn, the ones you trust to fight at your side, the ones who banter with each other and who get the most nuance, screen time, and development. To make six out of your nine companion characters men and two out of your three "support" characters women sends a really problematic, backwards view of gender roles.

I'm just...so disappointed. I really hope this is just a red herring and the actual split will be 5:4.

Okay, I'm done. Go ahead and let the "LOL ANGRY FEMINAZI!!!" comments fly.

Actually your sentiments are fairly well echoed. Haven't seen anyone really comment on the split positively.

Still, and I know you address this, but there does seem as though there will be a healthy offering of strong female characters in NPC roles to help compensate.

I am a female gamer and I am digging all the male eyecandy. Im not complaining... at all for the 6:3 ratio. But I do understand thats its frustrating for some people. I would be bummed if it was only 3 men in the party.

I was watching a breakdown trailer from lady insanity and she thinks it's scribbles , grey warden and inquisitor on the cliff. I'm not sure I'm convinced that's just sera the armour looks gold an dark blue and it looks like she has black hair . The side puff armour things look similar to scribbles and the shoes aren't the same as seras. I'v been watching that part like a million times over lol. It be awsome if all of those were party members :(.

For me it's that most of my favorite companions in previous DA games have been female. Bioware writes good female characters and they are very good at representing women well in their games (or at least better than other developers) so it's a shame that there isn't at least one more.

However, it looks like NPC characters will have quite big roles in this game though so I guess Leliana, Scribe Girl and Morrigan could make up for this.

I guess Bioware could be messing with us and there is a still unknown companion.  ;)

But I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Let's look at the current big power players in Thedas, shall we (that are not by choices or PC) and comfirmed alive right now

The Divine: Female

Celene: Female

Leliana(hand of the Divine) Female

Cassandra(also hand of the divine) Female

Fiona:Female

Male

Gaspard

First Warden

Storytelling focused on men? I think not.

Anyone else heard the theory that the cyclops myth started when someone found an elephant skull?  The fact that the giants have tusks just...that's awesome.

I wonder if we're getting more advisers than are shown?  I really, really hope Dagna is in it...

Dagna seems to be a major character in her own right, as the Inquisitor's Artificer.

(Artificer, interestingly, is also a new rogue class that deals with trapmaking and using mechanical inventions.)

I think there's a difference between the three big advisors and other NPCs that play a role in the Inquisition, maybe the latter will depend on choices we make in the game. They all seem to have their own chunks of content, though, given that we had the option to send stuff back to Dagna at one section of the PAX demo.

That's why I said right now. They could very well die but right now the bulk of power players that are important right now are female. So while yes there are more male companions, there are more female agent/adviors and power players.

^ Just on other NPC characters n the Inquisition, Mark mentioned in one of the thousands of recent articles that it even extends to things like making friends with the cavalry commander at Redcliffe and having him available to give extra quests on the Inquisition War Room table thing.

We've also heard about the Inquisition having specialist linguists and scholars to translate artefacts and ancient writings, that sort of thing, so I think there's actually quite a few important characters below Cullen/Leliana/Scribe Lady.

Oh, interesting point too about Scribe Lady probably being a master of politics and diplomacy, rather than just commerce - although Cameron Lee did say she handled merchants too. I suppose she'd be the one sending emissaries and writing letters to important people, or maybe meeting them in person.

From the sound of that, Dagna might end up being more important than I thought she would.

I Agree with all of the Above *thumbs up* yes theres a severe lack of Female Companions, but that is one aspect of importance in winning a war and subverting chaos. the Inquisitor and his Inquisition can only do so much, they also need people to  acknowledge the Authority, which is where Justinia and Celene come in?

Thedas is very female-lead.  Remember what the revered mother says about Sebastian in DA2?  He can't serve the chantry as a WOMAN would.  Women even lead the qunari.  Only the arishok is stated to be always male, the ariqun is always female and the arigene (sp?) is either/or, which means this rigid, conformist culture could be two/thirds lead by women at any given time.

So lack of female companions?  The femquisitor better make up for it in shear awesome.

That said, I wonder if any future Dragon Age game will have a companion roster that's mostly female.

Super happy that DHMG (please be Dorian!) and Cole look to be in the final cut.  <3

I'm really surprised we saw everyone so soon, though. I was expecting to wait months.

DMHG? - WTF is that? (need an explanation - have been reading that a lot of times but I didn't want to ask...)

As for Cole? - Not really excited, as we might meet his mage "friend" (that whimp Rhys, who could only be bothered to fight for his freedom after they killed a lot of his friends and - indirectly - his mother...)

As for "Dorian" - Who is that? (i hope you are not talking about the guy that kept Fiona (Grand-Enchanter, Grey Warden and current leader of the mages) for a pet?)

greetings LAX
