Wow, Cullen and the warden are huge, almost as big as Iron Bull.
i think iron bull is standing a bit back from the table compared to the inquisitor and cullen

It looks like rather than being a companion, he's an Inquisition advisor. There are 12 characters in that scene (besides the Inquisitor), but only nine companions. Three of them have to be other major NPCs, and Cullen, Leliana and the lady wearing gold are the only ones not holding weapons.
Also, yes, that is Cullen. He's wearing almost the same outfit as in some leaked concept art from a few years ago.
(And Alistair can be dead, remember? Not to mention that he'd hardly join the Inquisition if he's the King of Ferelden
)
In this interview (http://www.ausgamers...es/read/3432915), Lee said
"The Inquisition has three main pillars right, they have a military force lead by one particular character"
That's probably Cullen.

In the Ausgamers feature article, Cameron Lee says that there are "three main pillars" to the Inquisition: military, espionage and political. He says that Leliana will lead the espionage part and another (unnamed) character will lead the military part.
So my guess is that the nine armed characters shown in the picture (excluding the Inquisitor) are the traveling companions, and Cullen, Leliana and "Scribe Girl" are the leaders of the three pillars.
Leliana: Espionage (confirmed)
Cullen: Military
"Scribe Girl": Political
Oh. But WHAT if... we find out that Cullen is a second or third son of some noble house (ala Sebastian) and HE ends up being the political adviser and the bad ass babe in purple and gold is the military?
((I know it isn't likely, but imaging Scribbles to be a military tactic genius is making me really happy right now))

Dress her in yellow, give her some glasses and name her Apple. I'd be sold.

You'd have to be playing Playstation or PS2 RPGs in 1999 or 2002.

Quiet boy. Your elders are talking!

Yeah and it inspired me to do a quick search on whatever happened to the Suikoden series! It just kind of stopped and I can't believe I never noticed it.
Anyway, back on topic:
While I'd like to see the roles subverted, I'm suspecting that Cullen is military and Scribe Girl is political. I'm really actually very interested in her character. Just who is she?

I'm worried about Cole as companion. He was annoying in Asunder and I really have trouble with imagine him as companion.
I am as well. I'm assuming he is problematic.

I don't see how they can make Cullen a military advisor, really not understanding that. Leliana I sort of get, not Cullen.

He's a Knight Captain of the Templar Order last we saw him, their Heavily Militant so he would make an OK military Advisor.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they rationalize him with player decisions. Such as having a female Amell warden makes for a more mage-sympathetic Cullen, probably so does a pro-mage Hawke. So what if my inquisitor is anti-mage? Or what if my decisions would have lead to an anti-mage Cullen, and my inquisitor is pro-mage?
So much to discover! ![]()
