Welp..turns out my brother's new born Daughter is named Leliana. And he knew nothing of Dragon Age mind you...so I just find it to be a funny coincidence.

Ha, no way!!! Is it actually a French name or something? I guess it must be a real name, although I'd never heard of it before DA.

I've actually never encountered someone named Leliana with an 'e' in real life. A Lilianna, but not a Leliana. 

 

Which is strange I suppose, because the amount of people who misspell her name that way has always irritated me a bit, even when it's the more frequently used name IRL. :S

I really love how much meaning was always packed in to the names of most of the characters in DAO (Alistair=Avenger, Duncan=Dark Warrior, Cailan=child) I think that one for Leli is perfect.

 

I've always imagined Andraste's grace to look like a Lily type of flower.

I didn't know there was a town here in Spain called L'Eliana in Valencian or La Eliana in Spanish. I checked Wikipedia. In spoilers I have quoted what they say there about the name of the town and a rough translation of my own.

The name of the town comes from an ancient chapel where an image of St Elias was worshipped; considering that for Carmelites of the Old Observance their Order had been founded by the prophet Elias, therefore, to speak of the order of St Elias, they used colloquially the term of "Eliana" (in the same way that they used colloquially the term "Ignaciana" to speak of the Society of Jesus founded by St Ignatius of Loyola). The DLC is probably in certification right now, meaning it should be pretty close to release. Microsoft doesn't usually post new achievements for games unless they have passed certification (or are expected to pass).

Well, colour me intrigued. Nice to see Bioware doing more with the Avvar, they're a pretty cool culture from what little we've seen of them. That said, I hope that every single piece of content for Inquisition doesn't have us pulling down every cultural tale outside on Andrastianism.

Leliana lost only by a slight difference in votes. But then again all three decisions were tough. Leliana was up against characters who have been in Dragon Age for some time and appeared in lots of media. That and the fact all three are very well-done characters is another thing.

 

Though I feel it should've been Morrigan, Alistair and Leliana. I can't see Varric wanting to travel with anyone from Origins let alone being led by the Warden, lol.
