So do you reckon this former bard will sing again in DAI? I kinda suspect with all the turmoil going on around her she may be hard pressed to find time fo' dat. Even though I would like to hear her sing again, just done better this time, no awkward lip sync's and random music in camp.

Alot of people do its just the crazy people you hear about all the time sadly.

Why is it we that admire this in Leliana rarely talk about it though? Maria is the first person I've seen say this and agreed with in probably over a year, and I don't even know the last time I saw this on the BSN.

I'm hoping she will. I mean, sure, things are pretty serious in DAI, but same could be said for DA:O and she still found time to relax a bit every now and then.

I suspect that if Leilana does sing again, it will be at the end of a series of conversations to 'bring out' that side of her after it has been sort of 'sleeping' for a while.  A kind of "bring back to the light" deal.

Alternatively... she'll sing a death dirge/victory song as she fights to the death.

Someone mentioned in another thread that given that Leliana is in charge of the covert and espionage side of the Inquisition, she must be comfortable getting her hands dirty. That would imply a somewhat more amoral mindset than what she displayed in Origins.

I am wondering if she'll be 'hardened' even if we didn't so in Origins. Her personality might be more ruthless and determined even before the Redcliff events.

We could even see her doing things like suggesting torture of prisoners for intel or assassinations of people who aren't bad per se but stand in the Inquisition's way.

How would you feel if Leliana made 'evil' suggestions, or was comfortable with cruel acts to further the organization's goals? Would you feel betrayed or unhappy at all?

Personally i generally re-harden her in origins as i much prefer that version. I think she'll have been hardened somewhat by events she's faced but think they'll try and have her straddle line so that those who import a softer Leilana can still see it in her too. Really don't think she'll be making evil suggestions.

Even a hardened Leliana doesn't really condone evil acts.  She's just more willing to compromise  those beliefs.

Hardened or unhardened I'd expect an  Leliana to advocate for methods that lead to less collateral damage.  But a hardened Leliana might be more willing to suggest methods like torture of prisoners and other acts that get her hands dirty for "the greater good"

If it crossed a line I'd feel sad, because that's exactly what my Warden would be worried about.  I mean it wouldn't be bad writing, but it'd be a punch in the guts.

Before someone says it:
You could decapitate Zevran and then have a conversation with him.
You could decapitate Loghian and then have him join your group.

It's a random animation and not something the system tracks at all.

Who hasn't had conversations with headless NPCs in Dragon Age at one point or another?

I particularly like it when the First begs the Baroness to send him out of the Fade after his head's been cut off.

  1. So is DA:I a sort of follow on from DA:O? I ask this because why didn't Bioware do it for DA :2. If Leliana has a major role in DA:I then how many years has passed. She had nothing much in DA:2..

So long as they make sense for her character development, I'll be fine with it. However, when she starts suggesting that we need to get rid of a plague of nugs that are rampaging all over Skyhold, then I'll probably be very heartbroken.

She has many names. Most know her as “Sister Nightingale” or “the Left Hand of the Divine.” To the rare friend, she is Leliana. They say she found faith amid darkness, and that her devotion to the Maker is matched only by her devotion to Divine Justinia V, a woman who is both mentor and savior. Those who have earned her loyalty know her as a steadfast ally. But enemies of the Divine know to fear her, for she is the shadow behind the Sunburst Throne—the one who watches and waits, who strikes when her mark is most vulnerable and least suspecting.

DAI is a separate game from DAO and DA2.  Different regions, different main character.  It just has several returning characters from the first two games.  It's set about ten years after DAO

1. It's a follow on of both the games... Choices made from the last games are supposed to matter
2. 10 years since the end of DAO sometime after the last cutscene in DA2 I believe.

Isn't it 10 years from the start of DAO that has past? It was 1 year later we meet Varric and the Archdemon was just slain. Act 2 is 3 years later and Act 3 is 3 years later. And 3 years later when Varric and Cassandra talk. I might be wrong though.

9:30-9:32 Dragon:  DAO and the DLCs

DA2: Act 1 9:31

         Act 2 9:34

         Act 3 9:37

Events of Asunder and The Masked Empire: 9:40

Cassandra interrogates Varric: 9:40

DAI: starts  a few weeks after Cassandra interrogates Varric

Edit:  added Asunder and Masked Empire.  Also corrected DAO dates as Witch Hunt apparently takes place in 9:32.
