Even if you don't care for the romance options, there's still that whole 'save the world from evil' subplot.
I don't care how well done the filler content and minigames are if the core gameplay isn't appealing.

Someone canceling their preorder over romance?
Hey, if "romance" is the one thing that he enjoys the most from playing Bioware games, then who are you and we to judge?
I personally think him being mocked for that comment is unnecessary, but eh.

But what if I enjoy judging people? Who are you to judge me for my judgmental ways?
Then you are free to judge me who judge you that judge him.
Because its pathetic. He doesnt care about the romances themselves, he just wants a hawt model as companion he can bang.
Ehhh, hahaha, maybe it's not necessarily "a hawt model", maybe he just don't find any currently announced romanceable characters to his liking. I too am disappointed in that department, really, so far.

She who judges shall be judged in return. So be sure to use your judgement before you judge! ... Anyway, Leliana!

True. I'm pathetic. Resorting to finding romance in games can be pretty pathetic. And you're right, banging a hawt model is great fun. Unfortunately, quality fun doesn't come by often. I had no fun banging all those companions from DA and ME, except one - Ashley. The graphics of the bed scene was as it should be (unlike the pathetic attempt by DA). But of more importance is the relationship (with a hawt model) built over time. It was always a pleasure chatting and taking care of companions like Ashley, Morrigan, Leliana, Liara etc. There're other games where my companions were not involved in sex (or at least not in my memory) but provided great motivation for me to be accompanied on missions - Elika of Prince of Persia, Kit from Enslaved, Elena of Uncharted, Faye of Binary Domain, Sybil from Bound By Flames, Ellie of The Last of Us etc. They were all beautiful models who provided extra motivation to game on.
Personally, for a pre-order, I'd expect the game to be great in all aspects. Otherwise, I may just play later when Origin put up a discount. For example, I enjoyed Kingdom of Amalur when it was on offer from Origin. The cartoony characters doesn't interest me, but the gameplay was fun.
For me, gameplay isn't so important as compared to story and characters. Beyond Two Souls is nothing but a QTE-fest, but is one of my favourite games. Touching moments brought me to tears. Heavy Rain and The Last of Us are other great titles. Catherine is another title with dull gameplay mechanics but beautiful models and engaging story. For RPGs, ME & DA are still my favourite series. For gameplay, some of my favourites are ME2, DA:O, EndWar & Killzone etc.
Well, everyone has their views. Can't please everyone. So I'm here just to state my personal views. Pray there are more yet-to-be-revealed interesting lady companions (as none of the current lot interests me). Well, to each his/her own. ![]()

Romance isn't core gameplay.

It's a great explanation of why you feel how you feel, and I respect that, but if characters and story are so important to you, as you say, you must know that you can't judge someone on first impressions or even looks alone. You just can't. Since you've obviously played Mass Effect, I'll use Ashley as an example. But keep in mind that I have yet to play ME3.
First impressions for me were that Ashley's great. I mean, I would claim that I'm not that shallow, but I can't deny the fact that I found Ashley to be quite attractive. Though when I got to know her, and chatted with her quite a lot, then I realized I didn't like her as much as I thought at first. So, opinions change. Judging a game's characters, especially in something as story-heavy as a BioWare game, on first impressions alone is just not something I'd consider reasonable. Of course, you are entitled to do so, and if that is what you desire, by all means: go ahead, but I'd advise against it.
I'm sure everyone knows Alix Wilton Regan(AWR) is one of the voices for femquisitor and she also voiced Samantha Traynor in ME3. So I found this on Tumblr that may give you a smile
Hehehehe, when crazies collide...
On another note: this is the Leliana thread. If you wish to discuss/argue about the romance options, please do so in the romance thread. Romance talk makes Leliana nervous.

@TheLittleBird - Agree. One can't judge a character on looks. Am sure there's depth to each and every one of Bioware's characters. Morrigan is the obvious one. Even seemingly simple, innocent and trusting Leliana of DA:O has a huge back-story to her. As long as one is willing to observe and discover, bet there's a lot a like about the companions. Its just that for me, looks plays a big part if someone interests me (at least in video games).
@Bluedrake89 - Noted with thanks.

I too am pretty underwhelmed with what has been released so far in regards to the LI department. But meh the romances are a nice addition to the story experience but not the main reason I play these games. I guess I'll just have to pine after senpai Leliana throughout by the looks of it! ![]()
I know I was about to say why are we discussing romance in a thread that has "not romanceable" and the title. Only romance there is to talk about is whatever is going on between her and the warden... All I know is the disappointment is still real

all I got now is this reality to endure

Hopefully Bioware might us some info on what happened to Wardens who romanced Leliana in the years that past since DAO up to now. Otherwise it's just wishful thinking or le gasp I will have to headcannon this! ![]()
Back to Leliana..
Did anyone else find it kind of interesting in DA:O that her father was Orlesian? While not much is said about him, considering Leliana's age and the fact that her mother was from Ferelden, he may have been part of the Orlesian occupation. That might also explain why her mother left Ferelden. Maybe she would have been viewed as a collaborator and a traitor even if her only 'crime' was sleeping with someone considered an enemy.
For a human noble Warden, it also means that the Warden and Leliana's fathers may have been on opposite sides of that conflict. That is at least, if Leliana's father was a soldier and not just a civilian that had followed the Orlesian army into Ferelden.
Hmm from where is part that her father was orlesian? As far i renember she never mentions her father only mother.

I'm not sure why, but I always had the impression that Leliana's mother was taken advantage off by some noble/soldier while she was under the service of Lady Cecilie...

I don't recall now where and exactly when she mentions her father, but it is in one of the early conversations. He is only mentioned in one of the dialogue options however. Choose either of the other two and he isn't mentioned. It is easy to miss. She doesn't really say anything about him though except that he was from Orlais.

Could it be possible Leliana's father and human noble father knew each other? Or at least met?

Yes, probably in battle considering Bryce was a part of the rebellion.

Yeah, that's exactly where my mind went as well.

Given Leliana's mother was a maid to Lady Cecile, it's quite likely her father was also a servant.
And Cecile seemed like a kindly old woman, which could have been a reason for Leliana's mother to leave with er
